Volleyball, although it is not a contact sport, injures the many athletes in its own unique way. Volleyball injuries are more commonly referred to as either acute (traumatic) or cumulative (overuse) injuries. Acute also known as traumatic injuries can arise as an affect of abrupt force on a part of the body which could potentially unfortunately effect an athlete's overall game. Cumulative injuries develop over time due to tension on the muscles, joints and other tissues without appropriate resting time to allow for the injury to heal. The longer these injuries are ignored the more deleterious the condition will become. Injuries also lessen the time spent in recreational activities, lower your fitness level as it also may demote competitive performance. I can watch volleyball all day because of how much precision, aggression, and mental toughness is needed. Spectators may not always see that side of the sport, but as a player, I know that it takes more than just a powerful hit or serve to be successful. Slamming the ball down other teams’ throats or hitting someone in the face so hard that they fall over (my personal favorite) are great, but, unfortunately, they’re not always the smartest choice. People have to worry about there body while they play and football can be seriously bad when you get hurt.
When all of these different elements combine, it is easy to notice that throughout the levels volleyball has more limitations when compared to other sports. These limitations include; minimal number of venues, amount of people required to play a game and the general culture of the Gold Coast. Which when looked at from my point of view, volleyball seems to be to difficult to continue, which is why in the future i probably will not be continuing the game.
