VoiceXML is the W3C’s standard XML format for creating interactive voice applications that can be accessed over the phone. It could be described as a markup language used for scripting interactive dialogues between humans and computers. It is like HTML, the only difference is that while HTML uses a graphical user interface to access information VoiceXML uses an audio interface where speech and keypad tones replaces the screen, keyboard and mouse (Hampton, 2001, para.1). The basic elements for interaction are speech and Dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) signalling with telephone keypads. The computer uses spoken prompts to evoke responses from the user in a sequential and linear manner and the user is meant to respond using a finite set of vocabularies in every dialogue. Despite the potentials and capabilities of interactive voice applications, the technology is far from reaching its potentials. The reason for this problem is that they are prone to errors because of the lack of tools and methodology for the construction of practical and suitable frameworks. In the past, developing voice applications has been an expensive, high-level technology and complex application development which was crafted with ad hoc infrastructures to meet essential business needs, thus people still feel it is very complex (Turunen, 2004). VoiceXML provides methods that make interactive voice applications quite easy to build. It provides the opportunity to develop affordable voice applications which are flexible, portable and easy to use. Its significance is that it reaches a much larger audience than the privileged population who have regular access to computers. The major benefits of VoiceXML mentioned, in order of regularity, are its simplified web acc... ... middle of paper ... ...Creating VoiceXML Application with Perl. At the latest press conference held by Apple, the new groundbreaking innovation for the iPhone 6 was finally revealed to the public. After years of mingling about in the barbarian state of face-to-face conversation, society is finally being introduced with the ability to eliminate the middle-man, and communicate solely through the use of their smart phone. The feature is called Siri-Speech, which helps envelop the user in the dissociation that is accompanied by using machines to fill the void once occupied by primitive speech. The user only needs to type a text they would like the individuals near them to hear, and the application will read the text aloud. This awe-inspiring feature will help eliminate the need for crude functions like conversation and eye contact.
Captioned Telephone is a new product of Ultratec, being tested in several states. CapTel is an innovative service in which the operators repeat the words of the hearing party into an automatic speech recognition system for rapid transcription. Voice and data are carried on one line so that the hard of hearing or deaf user can monitor the speech as well as see the transcription. The CapTel phone is set up for “dial through” so that the user does not need to dial the relay service first.

Polyphonic HMI, a subdivision of Barcelona-based Grupo AIA, is charged with applying the parent company’s artificial intelligence and natural science ideas and products to the music industry. Grupo’s major strengths lie in these areas and have led to the development of several successful and innovative tools used to solve all types of business problems across different industry sectors. Polyphonic, Grupo’s first entertainment-based subsector, is releasing Hit Song Science (hereafter HSS), a software used to predict the potential success of songs by mapping their mathematical properties and matching those to previous hits. However, Polyphonic is facing a series of problems. Two stand out: one, they have no identifiable target market. Two, Polyphonic has no defined marketing approach on which to launch their original product offering. This report will address, analyze and make recommendations for solving these challenges.

One of the most critical needs of a civilization is communication. In the past, communication was presented by means of both oral and written forms. Unfortunately, this form of communication is slowly beginning to fade with the invention of the Internet.
The Wireless Markup Language (WML) is used to create pages that can be delivered using WAP. WML is a language that allows the text portions of Web pages to be presented on cellular telephones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) via wireless access. WML is part of the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) that is being proposed by several vendors to standards bodies. The Wireless Application Protocol works on top of standard data link protocols, such as Global System for Mobile communication, code-division multiple access, and Time Division Multiple Access, and provides a complete set of network communication programs comparable to and supportive of the Internet set of
The hospital needs to find a way to improve the tracking of Voice Over IP (VOIP) calls within the hospital and also wants to have a program to improve response time of medical personnel by using the GPS to locate the closes vehicle to the emergency. A design will need to be made of the Requires and Provides interfaces of two components that might be used in the VOIP system. A design of the interface is needed for two components that may be used in the vehicle discovery component to find the nearest vehicle to the incident with the Requires and Provides interfaces.

Most of the applications in terms of speech and audio compression may seem obvious at first, but what most do not realize is the scale at which it is used. Some of the more common examples include: telephone communications, compact disc players in the form of digital audio coding, stereo sound systems, speech recognition and playback, noise reduction/filtering after voice recognition and speech synthesis [1]. The uses of DSP for speech and audio compression is certainly not limited to these examples, but just these alone are examples that the general public use through various devices on a daily basis often without realizing the function of the systems and processes that go into their operation.

Abstract: This document presents a proposal of MSc project, which is about a web based live chatting system. Live chatting software is fast growing in web-based applications. Most of the service related companies such as ISP, E-commerce, Bank, Insurance, Health Care (e.g. telemedicine) support their customers online through the internet or over the phone. These companies spend a lot to buy and maintain their software. However, there is a great concern about secure channel and reliability. Banking sectors have great concern about these security aspects. In this proposal, I propose a real time application, which will be created by Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and will be solved the concern and easy making of the live chatting web based real time software to those companies, which are concerned about expenses and maintenance of the software. The project will be written in C# using AJAX functionalities. The system will operate in real time situation. Using this approach, I will be able to demonstrate in a real time system of tracking online customers and solving their queries through the internet. In addition, I will also be able to learn how the ASP.NET 3.5 is flexible to create a real time web based application.

Since its inception, the telephone has become one of the most important inventions of all time. Although some were skeptical about its replacement over telegrams, in the end the advent of this fine communication equipment has won the hearts of many. As a matter of fact, the telephone system had come to numerous facelifts that it literally connected the world before the internet was born. Because of its importance, homes and businesses can not live without it. In the U.S. alone, most if not all have a phone in the house.
Making a telephone call no longer should conjure up visions of operators connecting cables by hand or even of electrical signals causing relays to click into place and effect connections during dialing. The telephone system now is just a multilevel computer network with software switches in the network nodes to route calls get through much more quickly and reliably than they did in the past. A disadvantage is the potential for dramatic and widespread failures; for as has happened.
