Reporting party (RP) stated that her daughter Noemi Smith (DOB: 5/31/14) attended the daycare 2 days before the official start of school. These 2 days were catorgoized as "Visiting Hours " where the parents were allowed to stay with the children. During the first day of visiting hours (approximately at 10:00AM), RP disclosed that she witnessed a male child (name unknown) playing with another female child and RP's daughter. The unknown female child took a toy from the unknown male child which cause him to grab the shirt of the little girl in the attempt to retreive the toy back from her. Upon hearing the commotion between the children, teacher Alexis (classroom #3, 2-21/2 year olds) approach unknow male child and "slapped" him on his arm. RP …show more content…
RP stated that on another occassion, she picked up her daughter at 12:30pm. Alexis approached RP and said, "Hey, I'm glad you're here. Noemi had a toy that another child (unknown) wanted and this child grabbed Noemi by the face and scratched her." Alexis told RP, "I got so pissed and I yelled at them." Athough Alexis' yelling was directed at the unknown child, it frightened RP's daughter and caused her to cry hyserically. An incident report was generated and Alexis described her outburst as "Big reaction". RP witnessed her daughter standing at the lunch table when she was given the directive by Alexis to sit down; which Noemi did not follow. Alexis stood up from her seat and Noemi "flinched" and immediately sat down. RP has also withness this behavior of "flinching" from the child while at home. On 10/6/16, RP was in the classroom with Noemi who took a red toy from another child (unknown male child). This child began crying as he reached for the toy. Teacher Alexis crouched down, took the child left arm and crossed it over his right hip and pinned him to his seat. Alexis told this child, "That's enough. Stop
DSS received a report of physical abuse, physical neglect and substantial risk of physical abuse on March 3, 2017 alleging there is chaos in the home. After returning with his brothers from their cousin’s house, the boys had to go to bed. The reporter stated that Xzavia banged on his mother’s bedroom door on three separate occasions wanting something to eat. The first time he was told to go back to bed and a popping noise was heard. The second time Ms. Kimberly Dawkins grabbed Xzavia by the head, shook him little and told him to go back to bed. The third time Ms. Dawkins grabbed Xzavia, threw him on the bed, got a gun, held him down and pointed it at him. Reporter states there was no clip in the gun. Ms. Dawkins was reported being upset and it was reported that she left the home for twenty minutes but came back. It was reported that while Ms. Dawkins was gone, Xzavia was very upset and he was crying and Tyzhaun stared punching holes in the wall. It was reported that Xzavia says he wanted to die and that Atmorris went and got a knife, stated to Xzavia, “You want to die?”, here’s the knife and the two older brothers, Tyzhaun and Atmorris left the house and Xzavia chased them. Based on the information provided in case 8, Crashing Planes and Tranquil Dreams, Richard is a 4 years old boy, who is experiencing challenging behaviors at school, as well as at home. Richard lives with both parents, and two older brothers. Richard has been attending the YMCA’s full-day preschool program for the past 2 years. He is described as a “good kid” by parents and teacher, however, he is constantly active, impulsive, and frequently becoming involved in conflicts with adults. Parents are continuously working, and as mentioned in this case, they have to spend most of the time at home yelling at Richard or putting him in time-out as part of his consequences for not listening or misbehaving.
As a mandated reporter with the code of ethics we are required by law that if we know of any situation putting children in harm or danger we are to report it to the proper community authorities. When we know of an early education center who is failing to meet laws and regulations we shall report it to the proper authority's. When an agency, that is to protect children from harm, is failing we must also report them to the proper authorities.
For so long Dave’s teachers noticed something was not right with him. He would misbehave, come to school with bruises and lie. The teachers, administration and nurses finally caught on to what was going on at Dave’s house and reported the issue immediately. When Dave and his mother were questioned by administration, his mother would lie about his injuries; Dave would lie as well because he knew if he did not, the beatings would get a lot worse. Therefore, the school did not report anything to authorities. I believe that if a teacher notices a sign of abuse, administration should go above and beyond to figure out what is going on. They should also get the child immediate help. Children are not born to misbehave in such a way as stealing food from other children. There has to be a reason behind their actions and teachers should watch closely. This could change a child’s life forever. This also could give that child a second chance for a better
Colby Public Schools most certainly should switch to a four-day school week as it will lead to a saving of money, better in-depth interaction, and finally more family, friend, and work time. There are currently a number of schools who have made the brave move by switching from a five day school schedule to a four day schedule. In fact, The Education Commission has estimated that hundreds of districts in 17 states have made the transition. Also, there are state officials present within Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon and all have reported increases in the four-day schedule. It is a movement that grows by the month and is the way forward in education. Colby Public Schools absolutely should transition
The critical incident that I will be explaining about is regarding an eight-year-old girl currently a student at Victory Independent School District (VISD). This student wrote on her class journal that her uncle was touching her in her private parts when no one was watching. The teacher was so confused to what to do when he read Bianca’s journal, especially because he was wondering if it was appropriate for him to ask her questions about it. The teacher was concern that due to being a male that the student was going to feel uncomfortable if he were to ask her about what she had wrote in her journal. The teacher did know what to do and he was so confused because he was reading and grading the journals at home during the weekend. He continued reading Bianca’s journal and feeling more worried about his student's well being at home.
Throughout time education has been considered a process that every so often must be improved. The education quality in the U.S. has declined over the years and people have been looking for a way to make improvements. A more recent proposal has been to go from a traditional nine-month schedule to an all year program. Supporters of year round school claim it gives the student a better education. However, the prospect of year round school is not beneficial to the taxpayers pocket, to the education a student receives, or to the people involved with the district.
On May 31, a recently introduced criminal caution at the vandalized nursery school took patrolmen surging back to the scene, where they discovered Mary and Norma Bell dallying adjacent to the building. Both young ladies intensely denied association in the past break-in, and they were discharged to the authority of their
Imagine students becoming stressed with the abundant amount of homework they have to accomplish, complaining about the lack of time and fun enjoyable tasks they have to leave out. Currently, District 211 has a five day school week but having a four day school week eradicates these problems, which could have a positive mental and physical effect. Currently, the four day school week is being used in more than 120 school districts across the country, in states including including New Hampshire, Colorado, and New Mexico. Use of the four day school week also extends to several provinces in Canada, France, and Britain. Considering the amount of districts that are executing a four day school week it is most reasonable to assume that they have significant
This particular class period consisted of around 3 students, but one student was working particularly just by himself with his teachers aid. Even before it started Ms.Metcalf classroom energy felt a bit off, and come to find out that during lunch one of the students had been teasing the other student. The student that had also been causing trouble had out of nowhere stolen paper clips off of Ms.Metcalf. The other student was not able to stay on task, because he still felt upset from the incident that occurred during lunch. This soon became more of a discipline class rather than the student learning about math, and apparently the "bully" had created pointer with the paper clips that could have actually hurt someone. Soon after Ms. Metcalf had to call the assistant principles to step in to discipline the student, and lost a entire day of instructions due to one student misbehavior. After the misbehaving student had left she went over to the emotional distraught student and began discussing that he should never let people 's words if they weren 't nice and that entire lesson became a lesson on
School Should Begin Later in the Day Many teenage high school students are tired during the school day. distracting them from their studies. That is just one of the many good reasons. that the start time of school should be later in the day. Some people may say that the brain is not fully functional until 9:30 is just a matter of opinion.
When Sula said no, the boy turned around and fell down the steps. He couldn 't get up right away and Sula went to help him. His mother, just then tripping home, saw Sula bending over her son 's pained face. She flew into a fit of concerned, if drunken, motherhood, and dragged Teapot home. She told everybody that Sula had pushed him, and talked so strongly about it she was forced to abide by the advice of her friends and take him to the county hospital. (Morrison, check page#)
The traditional School schedule is set up so students go to school for 9 months and then have a 3-month summer Vacation. This system dates back to a time when most people's lively hood was farming; therefore, the educational schedule was built around the times of harvest and planting. But in modern day, with so little farmers this schedule is severely out dated. The long break in the summer encourages students to forget knowledge that they learned that previous year, forcing teachers to review information for 4-6 weeks, time that could be well used teaching students new and enriching things. This schedule also isn't very cost effective, for three months schools stand empty and unused, which is ridicules due to how over crowded the educational system is. Does it really make sense to use an outdated schedule when with every other aspect of our lives we want the newest and the best?
Some may say that adding a twenty minute rest period is illogical because schools would have to extend their days; students would be going to schools longer, so what’s the point? Well, studies show that on average school hours are from 6.22 and 7.17 hours. The average number of hours that schools are open is 6.93 (Education). In reality a twenty minute rest time is very reasonable with the average number of hours of school in America being so low, schools should use some of those extra hours in favor of the student 's well being. For example, adding a twenty minute rest time for kids to take a break, relax, and sleep to refuel before going to their next class; this is a better solution than loading students with homework on top of sleep deprivation and stress. “I agree with your theory, however, I do
