Violets Are Blue is a suspense thriller novel written by James Patterson. In this book, Alex Cross, a detective, is chasing a killer called the mastermind. The mastermind decides to pursue Alex Cross and his family. Alex Cross attacks the case with everything he has, but the mastermind always seems to be one step ahead. That is when Alex cross begins to suspect it must be an inside job. In this journal I will be questioning, evaluating and predicting.
The first reading strategy that I am going to is questioning. What caused Kyle Craig to turn from the successful leader of the FBI into a cold blooded killer? I think that the main cause of his mental change may have been influences from his childhood; “I found Kyle to be caustic and very cruel. I know that Blake did as well” (Patterson 373). I think that Kyle always had the killing instinct inside of him. Then as he grew older, he filled with anger until he snapped. When he murdered for the first time he discovered that he got a rush from killing. The …show more content…

The first prediction I will be making is about the vampires. I predict that the vampires were working in some connection with Kyle Craig. I think this because Kyle always knows about the events right as they are happening. He always calls Alex when he goes away to investigate a murder; “Did you find her yet Dr. Cross? What do you think? (Patterson 270). Alex Cross had just gotten to the murder scene as the first responder, and Kyle already knew. The second prediction that I have is that Kyle will escape from jail. In the end of the book, Alex captures Kyle. Kyle tells Alex that he planned for this to happen, and plans to escape and come after him. Alex tells himself that Kyle was just trying to spook him. Unlike Alex, I believe that Kyle means what he says. In the epilogue, it ends with Alex saying he feels like someone is watching him, but he does not see anyone. I think that the eyes he feel watching him belong to Kyle
