In 1992, the newly formed rap duo, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of the Insane Clown Posse, started a movement within the music industry without knowing it. Their outwardly explicit lyrics and clown gimmick somehow touched the souls of the community that started calling themselves "Juggalos." The music of the Insane Clown Posse brought this group of misfits and scrubs together within the Juggalo community, which can best be described as a family. However, in 2011 the FBI classified Juggalos as a "loosely organized hybrid gang" ("2011 National Gang Threat Assessment"). Due to this classification by the FBI, the Juggalo community has been in distress. The members of ICP, Violent J (Joe Bruce) and Shaggy 2 Dope (Joey Utsler,) decided to sue the …show more content…
There are many people who are attracted to it because of the entertainment factors, the ones who miss out on the underlying message of love, family, and God. There have been horrible things done by people who claim to be Juggalos, or listen to various horrorcore rap that ICP gets included to. People who call themselves Juggalos have murdered, or attempted to murder people, and have critically injured people. Not to mention, there will always be Juggalos who participate in petty crime, like vandalism and theft. This fact is not lost on J, "We've sold millions of albums. Of course out of those millions of people there's going to be some bad apples ("Insane Clown Posse Interview" 33:50)." For the FBI to focus on the actions of a few, and to label these millions on good, hardworking people as gang members based on the music they like and who their friends are is insane. Charles Manson was a hippie, but the government did not decide to label all hippies as serial killers just because of what he did. If the government tried, there would have been an outrage! The only reason the Juggalo gang classification is getting by is because it is happening to Juggalos, and no one takes ICP and the Juggalos seriously. It also must be kept in mind, that ICP's demographic is a generally poor population, people who have lived a hard life. In general, these are the kind of people who end up committing crimes, some of which to keep …show more content…
Following the march, there is supposed to be a free concert to thank everyone who showed up to protest. There is no word yet if the concert is going to happen, due to the law enforcement agencies of the town. The official statement released by Psychopathic Records states that, "A law enforcement agency has told thousands and thousands of people that they are not welcome in their community simply because they identify as Juggalos, which is a music-based subculture and nothing more. And this precisely reflects the purpose of the Juggalo March – to call attention to the kind of casual discrimination, profiling, and bigotry that Juggalos face every day throughout these United States ("Juggalo March on Washington)." Artists that are meant to perform at this concert include ICP, and others that are on their record label or Psychopathic Records- which includes Vanilla Ice, Project Born, and 2 Live Crew. The Juggalo movement is bigger than what most people expect, and have accepted old 90s artists with nothing but love and
The kids became gang members for many reasons. Some needed to find what their place was in the world, and they needed to know who they were as human beings. Joining the gang gave them a feeling of being involved in something and made them feel better about themselves. They felt that as a gang member they received the attention, emotional support, and understanding that they couldn’t get from their actual family members at home.
When Kody Scott was 6 years old, the gang wars started in Los Angeles. It started out as a battle between the Crips and the Bloods, but by the late 70's and continuing today, the biggest killer of Crips is other Crips. The Crip Nation was divided into different divisions, which Monster compares to the U.S. Army. "For instance, one who is in the army may belong to the F...
In my creative writing project for English 9, I chose to make a series of six letters between two characters from the books Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and Son of the Mob by Korman Gordon. The two characters I chose were Romeo Montague from Romeo and Juliet, and Vince Luca from Son of the Mob. In the letters, I have the two boys talk about their lives. As Romeo is dead already, I have the two boys focus mainly on Vince’s life. Romeo offers countless pieces of advice on how to help Vince deal with the problems of dating the daughter of his father’s worst enemy. Throughout the conversation, the two boys become close each other, brought together by the problems that they both share experience in.
Next, the Rollin 60’s Crips are a subculture of the Crip gang. There are thousands of smaller gangs who are Crips, but are not all from the same neighborhoods. It always was weird to me that there could be hundreds of Crip gang members, but they don’t all get along when they’re from different neighborhoods even though they represent the same things. The Crip gang’s main color is blue. They tie their bandanas on any part of their bodies to represent their flag. They’re known for tucking bandana half way in their back pocket on the left side. This special significance has been recognized visibly, but also in music lyrics. The gang is home to the streets of Los Angeles, California. Of course, there have been some members that have relocated to
The MS13 is a perfect example of a counterculture. They are a world within themselves. The gang is very organized and structured; there is hierarchy with the gang. There is a significant amount of money flow within the gang. A few ways the gang obtains money is by drug dealing, illegal weapons, vendors pay the gang to work in their territories and for their protection, and drug dealers also pay the gang to earn the right to sell drugs in their territories. There are laws and rules that a gang member must abide by. One very strict rule for a gang member is silence. If a gang member becomes informant and it is found out that they are, it will more than likely result in death for the informant. The breaking of laws and rules are punishable, even by death. They have a law system and law enforcement of their own. Check courting is a punishment served by the gang to gang members who break the laws of the gang. There are initiations one must endure to become a member of the gang. Jumping in is one of the initiations, a brutal thirteen second beating by multiple people at the same time. (World’s Most Dangerous Gang) There is a communication system within the gang. They use stacking to communicate, tattoos, graffiti, and an overall dialect that is unique to the gang. This counterculture exists internationally inside and outside of prison walls. Within the gang there are individual cliques, but when threatened they will come together and fight alongside one another. It is instilled in a gang member to kill to maintain territory and to acquire new territories. T...
The Helmet Massacre was a horrible genocide where Brazil's 200-plus. It is similar to Wiesel’s account of the Jewish Holocaust in Night because the people die and the have to work and brazil 120 people die. “Papi pulled me to my feet by my ear. If you throw up— I won 't, I cried, tears in my eyes, more out of reflex than pain” (307). As this scenario presents violence, it displays innocent Yunior’s response towards his abusive father as he pulls Yunior’s ears. In the short story Fiesta 1980, Junot Diaz depicts the life of young Yunior as he struggles with his Dominican family issues. Yunior was picked on the most in the family, especially from his dad. As Poor Yunior was the victim of his dad’s affair with a Puerto Rican woman, it affected him psychologically. Yunior suffers from the fact his beloved mother is being cheated on; therefore, he vomits as he rides his dad’s van, as his first ride in the van is linked to his first meeting with

Gangs have been in existence since the beginning of the Roman Empire. There were speeches made by Roman orator, Marcus Tullius Cicero, which references groups of men who constantly fought and disrupted Roman politics (Curry, 2013). The history of street gangs in the United States begins with their emergence on the East Coast around 1783, as the American Revolution ended. Though many believe the best available evidence suggests that the more serious street gangs likely did not emerge until the early part of the nineteenth century (Sante, 1991). Although our country has had their share of feared gangs like in the 1980’s with the turf war between the Bloods and Crips, back in the 17th and 18th century the Mohocks of Georgian, England were one of the most feared gangs. What draws juveniles to the gang lifestyle? Many people will say that most gang members are children from impoverished communities, single family homes where there was no father present, or maybe there is a more psychological/sociological answer? By appearance and presence most gangs cause fear, crime, and disillusionment in the communities they occupy. Throughout history joining a gang has been perceived as a life without any reward, yet by joining this lifestyle many juveniles are able to gain the needed stability and security in their lives.
As a child he was sent to many reform schools. He has spent the last four decades behind bars. He will never get out prison. He will eventually die in prison. This is the life of Charles Manson. Charles Manson is a sick and cruel criminal.
An estimated 1.4 million people are active in more than 33,000 street, prison, and outlaw motorcycle gangs across the country, according to a report from the FBI. FBI officials, however, were quick to emphasize that the apparent 40 percent increase in membership may reflect more accurate reporting of numbers in gang ranks (FBI). Neighborhood-based gangs have proven that they can be very violent. Neighborhood Crip Rollin’ 6o’s is the most popular street gang in many states. Neighborhood Crip Rollin’ 6o’s is a gang that have many interesting things about it such as it’s early formation, how to get in and out, and what they do.
Mexican Mafia also knows as la Eme is the top organized gang in the United States. It was formed in 1957 by Luis "Huero Buff" Flores. When he formed the gang Mexican Mafia he was incarcerated in Deuel Vocational Institution located in Tracy, California. He first formed the gang to protect Hispanics from other gangs in the California prison system. The gang quickly grew in number and strength so the California prison system moved Mexican Mafia members to other prisons such as San Quentin. The effort to break them up did not work instead there influence started to spread in the California prison system and quickly to the streets. Their symbol is the black hand of death or the number 13. Their ranking structure is paramilitary. When you first join the gang you become a soldados and you are able to move up in the ranks through loyalty, hits and proving himself a good soldier. After Soldado, you become a lieutenant, then captain and finally the top is the general. Their territories expand from Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, San Bernardino, San Diego and cities across the central California region. They consist of 9, 000 members and mostly consist of Hispanics. They have an alliance with the Aryan Brotherhood, Surenos, and other various forms of
Televisions, movies and music are responsible for teen violence because the televisions and movies have programs that show a lot of fighting and music that have thoughts that might result in violence, there are a lot of parts in the dialogue that is suitable for adults and all the media has inappropriate language. This is bad because there is a lot of violence going on in the world. This might eventually lead to the world having terrorism issues.
According to the World report on violence and health, each year over 1.6 million people worldwide lose their lives to violence.
Violence in Entertainment Violence has played an important part in entertainment, even in ancient times, like Rome and Egypt. In those countries, mock killings were some sort of entertainment. Even in our time, media violence is ever increasing. Research has shown that media violence did not only increase in violence, but in graphic, sexual and sadistic ways. There have been many concerns that as violent shows and movies go global, people spend more time watching than doing other activities (Media Violence).
