For this project I chose the book Monsters of men by Patrick Ness. The character that i am focusing on is viola. She is an extremely strong and charismatic character who is shown to be willing to kill for her friends. She is shown to do what she thinks is right even if it consists of killing others. For people that she would look up to I chose, Malala Yousafzai, Ronda Rousey and --------. I chose these people because they all have certain characteristics that Viola would need and want in a time of war. When Viola looks at these women she can see herself in them and picture herself having the same qualities as them. Viola would look up to Malala Yousafzai because she is brave, defiant, and perseverant. These characteristics would be important
to Viola because she is on the rebel side of a war. She has to be brave and defiant because she stands up to the tyrannical dictator. Perseverance would be important to her because of all the pain she went through and all the people she lost. The most important of these attributes, to Viola, would be defiance. This would be the most important to her because she would be able to look at Malala Yousafzai and see herself, a young girl, standing up to a group of atrocious people and she needs the

The Book I chose to do for my book report is Live Original By: Sadie Robertson. She is one of the daughters of the Robertson Family, also known as the Duck Commander (Duck Dynasty) family. This book that she wrote is about how the duck commander teen keeps it real and stays true to her values. The Robertson family is a Christian family that lives in Louisiana, and they make products for people who hunt ducks. The show is a reality TV show, they have become really wealthy but they owe it all to God, and they trust in him completely. They have had many trials, one of the trials they faced was being asked not to pray before meals on the TV show, but there was no way they would agree to that. They have put their faith before fame and that’s something that’s really important. Sadie Robertson is 18 years old, and currently a senior in High School and graduates in 2016.
This is evident in two key moments in the story, both of which involve Minerva’s sisters. In the first, the manifestation of her inspiring Maria Teresa comes when Maria Teresa stands up to her. Behind the virgin mary, maria teresa is infuriated that Minerva won't tell her what they’re talking about so she confronts her about their conversation. This is very similar to the attitude that Minerva would have had in this situation, further illustrating Minerva’s inspiration of Maria Teresa. A second demonstration of Minerva’s inspiring courage in others, once again, comes through Maria Teresa joining of the revolution. While some will say that Maria Teresa’s real reason for joining the revolution came in the form of the man delivering guns, it’s clearly evident that without her sister's involvement in the rebellion, she would not have joined. This shows Minerva true inspirational impact. Even without being the principal reason for her sister’s decision to join the rebellion, the fact that she was a major part of the rebellion, a leader of the rebellion even, was enough for Maria
Antonia Shimerda broke down the wall of female gender roles versus male gender roles whenever they were presented to her. She was not only strong in house chores, but strong in all of the “manly” labor as well. My Antonia, by Willa Cather, takes place during the Westward Expansion. During this time period, it was custom for women to cook, clean, and raise the children while the men worked on the farm. The author, Willa Cather, was one of few woman writers in the 1900’s. Popular literature was more often than not by male authors. This led me to pick gender roles as my topic for this project because I am inspired by how brave and strong Willa Cather was during a time when women were perceived to be inferior. She strongly relates to Antonia, and derived her character in the novel from her own
She has many horrific stories of World War II that affected her life forever and her parents were a big impact as well, which really surprised me. Her parents had one goal for her and it was for her to become a teacher. Luckily she liked it and became the teacher she wanted to be now. Not many struggles were given to my grandmother other than tragic events as she was raised by two wealthy parents who truly cared about her. Silvana Giono is my inspiration and as she taught me, I will never give up on anything. Being able to interview her, I have learned that I need to become a better person and work harder for what I really want. This has a big impact on me because I will try even harder for things I really want and will always try my best from now on. I am very glad I was assigned this project, as I feel that I have turned into a better
I chose the two goddess’ named Aphrodite & Artemis. I think they both had interesting stories about themselves and I think they have an essential part in classical mythology. There are many books, websites, and articles to find out more and more about them. I picked these two specifically because I remember doing them in a reading response. I think the most important way to connect and contrast between these two goddess’ is to know background information.

First, Malala Yousafzai is an inspiring girl who wanted girls to have education. She was innovative and adaptable to speak out. When she was twelve, her school shut down, so
You can truly relate to this story. These characters are not seen just as heroic, but human. You see jealousy between women because of looks, much like we see today. Women, as sad as it is, really can be quite shallow when it comes to physical appearance. We see it all over the media with women paying thousands of dollars for cosmetic surgery so they can "feel better about themselves", but really, they are just trying to win some type of competition.
Viola and Beatrice both take on men's roles, Viola that of a manservant and Beatrice that of the perpetual bachelor and the clown: "I was born to speak all mirth and no matter," she says to Don Pedro [II.i.343-4]. They appear to be actors and manipulators, much more so than their female predecessors, who are mostly reactive and manipulated, such as Hermia, Helena, Titania, and Gertrude. None of these women seemed in charge of her own destiny, but tricked by the schemes of men and later scorned or humiliated as a result of male machinations. Viola and Beatrice, although they both seem fiercely independent and comfortable in a man's world, reveal themselves to have only the trappings of manhood, and not its full capacity for action. They are undone by unrequited love, made desperately unhappy by their inability to woo the man of their choosing. In the end, it is only coincidence and the plotting of other characters that bring the true nature of their affections into the open and thus force the plays to their respective matrimonial conclusions.

In the fourth quarter of eighth grade in Art and Computer Science I worked on a project on Frida Khalo. Although the topic selection was random I was excited to do my project on Frida Khalo because I have visited Guanajuato, Mexico where she is very popular. The computer science part of this project was an Adobe Spark Video where I informed viewers about Frida Khalo and her work. I really enjoyed being able to research such an interesting topic. Through this research I really came to appreciate Frida’s work. This is the eighth grade theme and Frida’s work really made me embrace it. The Art part of this project was a recreation of one of Frida’s works. I selected “Me and My Parrots” (pictured below) which is a self portrait of Frida and her
For any young female, this would be a devastating situation to be thrown into, and viola was no exception. Apart from having to deal with the loss of her brother, she also had to find a way to survive in illyria. Perhaps this is where the resilience in viola's nature is first shown instead of breaking down and mourning bitterly the death of her loved one, she immediately devises a plan to disguise herself as a male and serve duke orsino.
In my first story I want to dive into the many faces/characters that I played in my professional career. I have had numerous ups and downs when it comes to finding my leadership identity and in this story I want to touch on a couple of those instances.
