Blue and Yellow complement each other so well in the night sky. Starry Night is a famous oil on canvas painting of swirling colorful patterns cascaded over a small village. The painting was created in 1889 by Vincent Van Gogh. Van Gogh is a Dutch post-impressionist painter who had a large influence on art in the twentieth century. Starry Night is no doubt one of Van Gogh’s most famous pieces of the hundreds of paintings kept by his sister-in-law Johanna Gesina, the reason Van Gogh’s works are even known ("Raiders Of The Lost Art | Netflix"). The painting is actually put on display in the Museum of Modern Art in New York ("The Starry Night"). It has been a part of their permanent collection since 1941. The sky almost keeps you in a hypnotic daze with its exquisite contrast between the colors, and the all over pattern of bright twists and turns. The sky makes the regular scenery below seem almost extraordinary with such an out of this world feel. This particular painting has put an impact on people and aspiring artists everywhere. It is so recognizable. Even if you do not know the name, what it means, or the story behind it, everyone recognizes its radiant beauty by just taking a glance at it. I myself, grew up around the painting. My grandma is absolutely obsessed with it, so she has a large duplicate version hung up in her house. Every time I went over I would look at it and just gaze at it for a while, wondering what the mystery was behind the painting. Why did he decide to paint the night sky? How did he remember such a vivid image by memory? We can only guess what sparked his inspiration (Vincent Van Gogh, 2004). Being around my grandma was what made me so familiar with the painting. She appreciated the beauty and now, I appreciate it just as much. It’s almost as familiar to the human eye as the Mona Lisa, the most famous painting in the world. Starry Night even has a song written about it, called “Starry, Starry Night”. So by saying this, you can tell it is quite a recognizable
