Recommended: Impact of video games
Games are a lifelong hobby and enjoyment of mine, and as I grew up, I have begun to wonder more and more about the workings of them. I find it fascinating how art, along with storytelling and more technical fields such as programming, can come together in order to create not only a product, but an experience. Although they draw from many different fields and subjects, video games have become their own art form. They are capable not only of providing entertainment, but also of tackling complex problems in an interactive manner. The way games can influence both individuals and our society as a whole is one of the main factors which draw me to this course. I want to be able to contribute to this rapidly evolving field which can greatly impact the world we live in.
I have always believed in having as wide an education as possible. Studying humanities in high school, with heavy emphasis on modern languages such as English and French, has greatly enhanced my creative thinking skills. It has also allowed me to gain intellectual flexibility, which

To me, art has always been the main medium in which I was able to bring to life my own ideas. As technology developed, along with my love for it, I became aware not only of how it influences the art world, but also of the importance that art can have in the creation of video games. As continuous improvement is the mantra of any artist, I found that digital painting was a natural follow-up to my many years of life drawing and exploring traditional media. Being part of online art communities such as DeviantART and Artstation has helped me learn from others and has taught me that criticism and feedback are invaluable to any artist. Creating an online presence has, in turn, allowed me to start working as a freelance illustrator, thus becoming familiar with deadlines. I had the chance to further improve my time management skills and to learn to interact with
The author primarily appeals to the audience using logos. He brings statistics and data from research studies throughout the essay. He either provides background information on why the studies are misleading or just presents a fact. For instance, “According to a 2001 U.S. Surgeon General 's report, the strongest risk factors for school shootings centered on mental stability and the quality of home life, not media exposure” (Jenkins, “Reality Bytes: Eight Myths About Video Games Debunked”). He provides data like this through the essay. He is strongly trying to appeal to the audience’s sense of logic and
...ecause it gave me an opportunity to hear the perspective of other health care professionals that are not in the same field as me. I also got to learn what role each health care professional could contribute to the Triple Aim goal. Also, this experience would make it easier for me to work with other professionals during my course of study and after I graduate because I have been a little exposure to what it is going to be like discussing and trying to figure out ways we can contribute to the Triple Aim goal together as a team.
Art is something strange and even meaningless in my family tradition. I am from a family of the medical discourse community. Most of my family members have medical degrees. Therefore, they hoped that I could follow the family tradition. However, I chose to follow my dream. According to the book, East Eats West, by Andrew Lam, he mentioned ““America will tell you to look out for number one, to think for yourself […] follow your dream … take care of yourself first … you cannot make anyone else happy if you don’t love yourself” (45). I have to make myself happy before helping and satisfying other people. Therefore, I chose to continue my education in the Digital Media Art (DMA) field because I love technology and art. I believe that I will do well in this profession. Art is created for many reasons, and art can be beautiful, frightening, or provocation (Barrio). In order to explain the discourse community of Digital Media Art, I will use the interview that I had with Ms. A, a professional artist in Graphic Design, and some other research articles. I will include the background and experience, career path, and writing and communication skills of an artist. Also, I will conclude into my writing what surprised me during the interview and what I need to do to make my goal real in the
Video games have become a hot topic recently. There have been a lot of controversy over whether to play or not to play. The controversy is due to them being arguably more captivating than all other forms of entertainment. Video games narrate an epic tale like no other form of entertainment can. You can become immersed in video games, because of this they are both a highly entertaining escape from the real world and a complete waste of time.
Some said it maybe cliché to have your childhood experiences as your points to derive you to plan your future. Well for me it is never an ending possibilities to have a childhood experienced that will determine you to get what you really want. From an early age I have always been deeply interested in gaming. I was the only girl in the family that really into games and computer systems. I can always remember the feeling of wanting to know just how the games were developed and design, how the console and system works and what else they could do.
Whether they be first-person shooters like Call of Duty, sports games like Madden or Fifa, racing games like Forza or Mariokart, or even games and apps on your phones, there are quite a bit of gamers in here. According to the Entertainment Software Association, about 59% of American play some sort of video game, so gaming isn’t all that uncommon (Entertainment Software Association, 2014). As such, there must be some sort of effect on the audience of this growing form of entertainment.

We should develop games that people want to spend time on that are also educational, increasing the attention span of people, visual acuity, and multitasking abilities of all generations. The author very effectively portrays her message of by connecting with her audience charismatically, visually, personally, and logically. In the age of technology we must come to terms with the changing hobbies and daily activities around us. Rather than passing them off as bad campaigning for them to be cut back, censored, we should be focusing on the good that is already done by video games and how we could continue to improve
There are several negative stereotypes associated with video games and those who play them; some of these may often hold true. However, there are plenty of learning opportunities in video games. While the direct purpose of some games is to educate or train, other games that do not directly have this purpose can still become a learning experience for the player. As Ntiedo Etuk, president of the educational video game company Tabula Digital said, “The traditional view of video games has been that they are distractions from the task of learning” (Electronic Education Report 1). Video games are an effective tool for learning and retaining skills both inside and outside the classroom environment. The basic cycle of game play--the introduction to the game, game play, collaboration, improvement of these between each round, and evaluation at the end of the game (Klievink and Janssen 159)--are nearly parallel to the traditional classroom learning cycle of reading a textbook or listening to a lecture, taking a quiz, studying, focusing on items missed on the quiz, and taking a test or exam. Within this cycle, there are many opportunities to develop and perfect both educational, life, and occupational skills.
Some students have played violent video games to have fun with their friends or siblings while they are online and offline. Plus they play to try to release their stress, frustration, and pressure after having a hard time doing their homework or in class. Video game developers goal is to make fans happy when they are playing their games. Video games are meant to have feeling of adventure, enjoyment, and excitement. Since the explosion of digital art and animation in the last 10 years, Traditional forms of art are losing the interest of the world and becoming extinct. Compared to digital art, painting and sculpting are generally a longer creation process and can't keep up with the advancement in quick digital painting and editing programs. On the other hand, digital artists are struggling with keeping their audience entertained. Freelance digital artists have to constantly put out new material; because with access to so many art pieces, people can get bored and quickly move on to something newer. Expectations are constantly growing to have new
Many people believe that video games change people and mislead them to do bad things, such as drugs and alcohol, but it is the opposite. Gaming prevents people from such acts and actually helps to keep them away from the substances. Lots of people, mainly parents, believe that video games harm people so they try to keep their children away from them. In reality, video games make your life better. Video games can provide many benefits to your lifestyle as “numerous academic studies indicate that playing video games has many psychological and even physical benefits” (Guarini). Gaming helps stimulate the brain and advances your problem solving abilities. There are disadvantages to gaming, which is true, but the amount of benefits outweigh them by far.

My life plan is to graduate from high school and graduate from college. In order to graduate from high school I must focus and get my work done. I can't be messing around alot and not graduate. After I graduate from high school, I am going to go to college for two years here in Porterville and once I finish that I will transfer to another college, university, or trade school. I plan on doing all my work there and once I graduate i'll probably move to a big city like Los Angeles or San Diego.
The arts have influenced my life in amazing ways. Throughout my life, art has been the place I run to and my escape from the world. As I’ve grown older, art has become so much more than that. Every piece of art I create is a journey into my soul. It’s a priceless way to deal with my emotions and my struggles. I create art not only because I enjoy it and because I want to, but because I have to. Somewhere deep inside there is a driving force, urging me to put my heart down on paper. I become emotionally attached to each of my pieces because they are like dashes on the wall marking my growth. Each one is the solution to a problem I have dealt with and overcome.
