Victor Cruz is one of the NFL'S best wide receivers. He is fast, strong, skinny, and he can juke out several people in one play. The NFL would be so different if he was not in it. Victor was born in 1986 in Paterson, New Jersey. As a young kid his parents gave him a lot of opportunities to play sports. He loved playing sports but his two favorite sports are football and basketball. As a kid he loved to watch football. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. His favorite player was Emmitt Smith. His dad had pushed him so hard and made him practice everyday after he got done with school. Growing up as a little boy his family was wealthy. He went to grade school at Paterson Middle School and went to college at University of Massachusetts ( UMass ). Victor once said, “Every step, whether at high school or at college or at the NFL, I had to climb and crawl and scratch to get there¨. He was the first person in the whole Cruz family to go to college. But he also got kicked out of UMass three times. He also said ¨ It has been some tough moments throughout my life, but I stayed focused and came through the other end of the tunnel¨. He got a call from the Panthers and the Cardinals. They offered him a spot to be on the training squad. He was thinking hard about what team he wanted to be on. Then he got a call from the Giants and they offered him a one year contract. He immediately signed with the giants. The story then jumps to when Victor started going back to school where he had a teacher who was actually nice to him and cared about him. He was very good at mathematics, but was not very good at reading and would try anything to get out of it. His teacher started to notice that he was not reading aloud and how he was paying some the other students a nickel in order to get out of reading. His teacher thought since he was so good at math he would be able to catch up with his reading by the end of the year. Yet, when the end of the year ended up rolling around his teacher had to call his parents to let them know that Victor had to be held back a year. Yet, he father ended up becoming angry that the teacher did not even truly know his son and how his teachers kept pushing them around.
