Vibes and Crank are amazing and entertaining books. The character are relatable to not only myself but my fellow peers. The books I’ve chosen aren’t pretty and nice which is good because that’s what most people look for in books nowadays.Vibes and Crank are books i would recommend to my close friends because in my opinion they’re interesting and very entertaining. These are eye catching books for their amazing book covers. Crank is one of the books I’ve chose. The book Crank is about a teenage girl named Kristina a typical high schooler “good girl” leading an average life in Nevada. But Bree is the opposite of her,Bree leads Kristina to the point of self destruction.Bree makes Kristina make bad choices and do drugs.Kristina has three boyfriends in the book,She ends up with her final boyfriend named Chase the “bad boy” who is slightly non attractive but ends up being kind and attractive at the end.The main conflict in the story was Kristina finding out she’s pregnant by Brendan, one of her old boyfriends, that ended up raping her. When she found out she was pregnant she tried improving her life and that means to stop doing drugs and stop drinking alcohol for the babies sake. What I liked about Crank was that Kristina stopped letting Bree decide what’s good for her and not. What I didn’t like about the book is that Kristina knew that Bree was making her do bad things and still let her make …show more content…
her choices.
Vibes is the 2nd book I’ve read.In this book Kristi can read other people’s minds. She knows what pleasant or horrible things people are saying about her.In the middle of the book,Kristi gets a school project with her crush Gusty, her father who walked out on her and her workaholic mother comes back and drops a bombshel, and also her “friends” come out of the closet. Then suddenly towards the end of the book she is left wondering and doubting that she can reads minds or people at all anymore.Vibes is an incredible and hilarious novel to read. Most teenage girls can relate to Kristi. Both books were amazing.Vibes would have to be my favorite out of them because girls can relate to Kristi and in the book you can like put yourself in Kristi’s place and see how she confronts people that act insolently towards her.Vibes is a very edgy book to read. And Crank is more of a poetry type of book which most people like to read.Im sure most of my friends would agree that these are amzing books. But in my opinion Vibes is more entertaining than Crank in a way. In conclusion I enjoyed reading these books.I would recommend Vibes and Crank to my friends to read and enjoy. These books have amazing and attractive book covers and interesting summaries. And thats what looking for a books is mostly about and to put yourself in the setting and characters shoes to see how their life is.Vibes and Crank are books that can relate to anyones life inside or out of school.
The book I choose for the book talk is “Dead and gone” written by Norah McClintock, this book talks about a murder mystery of Tricey Howard. The main character of the story is Mike, an orphan whose parents got killed in a car crash. He lives with his foster father named John Riel, who was once a police officer. During a swim meet, Mike see Mr.Henderson is staring at a girl name Emily without stopping. Then he informs Emily about what happened in the community center. However, as return Emily blackmails Mike to investigate Mr. Henderson. During the investigation, Mike finds nothing suspicious, but realize Emily is the daughter of Tricey Howard. Tricey Howard was murdered years ago, but the police still haven’t find the real killer. At the meantime,
“Crank” by Ellen Hopkins tells the story of a teenage girl, modeled after her own daughter, who becomes addicted methamphetamine, known on the streets as “crank”. The story follows Kristina's downward spiral as she attempts to feed her addiction and copes with the consequences of the decisions she makes.
This book has great balances of love interests, actions, and internal conflict with characters. It has an interesting story so far with new pieces coming up every few chapters that are very important. Like Al attacking Tris, Eric talking about Divergents and how the rebels must be eliminated. Tris and Four are developing feelings for each other, which I find weird because he is basically her teacher. They are only two years apart, so the relationship is not that awkward. In this journal I will be predicting, evaluating, and questioning.
Evaluation: I thought the book was very exciting and suspenseful like her other books. The book had very good detail and an interesting plot. I liked the twist when Juan and the girl’s father came upon Glenn walking down the road. I also liked how the author described the action in great detail. It made me feel like I was right there seeing it all happen firsthand. I don’t think that the author could’ve made this book any better than she did already.
When I first read the requirements for this book review assignment, I wasn’t currently reading a book. I knew I wanted to do it on a Nicholas Sparks books as those are easy reads for myself and I knew a lot of them had to do with family issues. I went to check out a few options at the library when I stumbled across this book, “The Mentor”. I started reading and I was instantly hooked!
The book had a few characters that I liked, but a lot of characters that I disliked. For example Yasmine was a character that I disliked. I didn’t like her because she brought pain to Paige’s life. Yasmine and Paige were best friends for months in Sixth grade. They were constantly doing fun activities together, like having sleepovers or planning each other’s birthday parties, but all that was ruined by a mistake Yasmine made. Paige and Yasmine were at a school dance, when
This book is called sleeping freshmen never lie, by david lubar. This book is about how 14 year old scott hudson is starting high school and scott becomes attracted to a girl named julia. While scott starts of school he discovers that his mom is pregnant. As his friends start to disappear from his life he starts to find new friends. The genre of sleeping freshmen never lie is young adult fiction. The setting of where it takes place at is unknown but the author does make you feel like you are with him with the way he would describe things that would happened. The main characters in this book include scott hudson, julia, kyle, patrick, kyle, mitch, and mouth. The main problem in that scott faces in this book is that scott is trying to find his
For my summer reading assignment I chose to read the book “Cake Pop Crush” by Suzanne Nelson. I selected this book, because when I read the analogy of the book it really got my attention. It sounded like a competitive, romance, and eye catching type of book mixed in one. While reading the book I constantly was wanting to know what was going to happen next.
Cara Sierra Skyes has a hard role in Perfect by Ellen Hopkins. Cara is in love with her boyfriend Sean, she describes him as fun, good-looking, adventurous, and a jock. Everyone expects the perfect girl to go out with the perfect guy. Caras mom has always taught her, appearances are everything. So, Cara held onto that. She is a pretty and popular cheerleader. Cara holds a special trait, she is actually really smart and has a scholarship lined up at Stanford. Problem is, Cara has a twin brother, Connor. Connor is super suicidal and has tried many times to kill himself, sadly one day he succeeds and leaves a girlfriend and his family behind in his high school years. So everything is definitely not the idea her parents have of “perfect”. At Least she tries. Cara is in love with her boyfriend Sean but she starts to spark an interest for a girl at the ski slopes one day and she becomes very confused. Between dealing with all her school activities, her grades, and her brother that she worries about all the time, Cara is struggling to keep her life together and be
novels I'll willingly read. I mostly enjoy Kishan's character. He is kind of a rebel, and he likes to
Two novels that I could read over and over again, "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan and "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café" by Fannie Flag. The two novels share similar qualities while conveying their different story lines.
...Never have I read a book that actually picked me up, and placed me into the book. This book actually took me into a battle, then to a quiet town, then into the battle again. Sometimes Brooks even got me to feel the ambiance or mood of certain things or places. Never has a book done that to me. I don’t think I would recommend it for a student looking for comedy, or a laugh, but I would recommend it to everyone else. This book covers tons of different genres, in a matter of a chapter or two. This book has captured me enough to continue reading the trilogy of Shannara.
The book Push by Sapphire is unlike any other book on the AP novel list. It has a heavy topic that may not be suitable for all readers. It is told through the voice of a girl, who has already had a child at the age of 12, and is pregnant with another at the age of 16 from her father. The book explains the difficulties of life after something has happened to you, especially in a sexual manner. Also it is a story of how parents pretty much neglected their child and wanted her to live like her mother, which means living in her own filth, in a poor house off of child support checks.
Since the last time I have journaled I have finished Magic hour by Kristin Hannah and Just Listen by Sarah Dessen. Magic Hour is about a feral child who was found in the small town of Rain Valley. It follows the police chief, Ellie, and her sister, Julia, while they try to figure out how to help this child. Julia is a psychiatrist who is working to get the girl to speak, while Ellie is trying to find whom the girl belongs to. Just Listen is about Annabel, the youngest sister of three in the Greene family. The family seems like they have a perfect life. The girls all model, Annabel is popular at school, they live in the perfect neighborhood, and they appear to everyone like the perfect family. The reader quickly discovers that this is not the
I liked (-- removed HTML --) Diary Of An Oxygen Thief (-- removed HTML --) from the start to the end. The book started out compelling. The anonymous writer did very well and I wanted to keep reading to see if he would ever break his pact with himself to never have an alcoholic drink again. The writer faced many situations that he definitely could have avoided and not hurt other people's feelings. He taught himself and learned from his past experiences. I feel bad for him, because he had to make the mistakes first to even realize what harm he was doing to not only himself but everyone he dragged into his life.
