Many people choose different career paths. Some people have broad visions of the way their career path is going to be. Some people have decided they want to be Veterinarian Technicians, being a vet tech you will be helping the veterinarians and assisting them with all of the animals. Being a vet tech is a different job for some people but if you are interested in animals it would be right up your ally. are expected to provide information to others, be friendly to your co-workers, and create an atmosphere that not a grudge can be held or tension can be felt. The employees need support because if you have a supportive boss or manager that can correct you when you’re wrong, at the end of the day it is benefiting you and the people around you. The working conditions are a big part of having a job because you should ask the questions of if it has security, if it’s active, if you have independence, and if it’s a good and safe working environment. Being a Veterinary Technician you will have job security and good working conditions. As a Veterinary Technician you will be expected to learn many tasks and responsibilities to take on.
You will need to know how to take care of the animals and oversee the conditions of the animals that may have had a surgery or an animal that is ill. You will be expected to provide drug inventory and the logbooks. You will execute the anesthesia to the animals under a veterinarian’s supervision, and supervise the reaction from the animal to the anesthesia. When doing procedures veterinarians can be in danger of the way a dog may react to the actions they make. The veterinary technician is the one who will prevent the animals from making a sudden action or movement. Just as you might think that you will get your free time and get to do what you want all of the time, becoming a veterinary technician comes with working evenings, weekends, or holidays. The jobs that veterinary technicians take on are very difficult emotionally and physically. Veterinary technicians mainly take on their jobs in animal clinics or hospitals and laboratories. As you are becoming a veterinary technician you will need to have these following aptitudes and abilities: oral expression, provable reasoning, oral comprehension, problem reactivity, information ordering, written comprehension, near vision, and speech recognition. These abilities are needed in this job because they are the major components to becoming a veterinary technician. Oral expression is needed because you need the skill of communicating information to others. Provable reasoning is needed to make rules and answers to problems that may occur so they have a better understanding. Oral comprehension is a very big component because you should be able to listen and understand the information that is being spoken to you. Problem reactivity because you should be able to tell when something is wrong or if they are doing something that could have made it happen. Information ordering because you should have the strength to arrange things in a specific order and pattern that is needed. You should know written comprehension is a key component because you should have been taught to read and understand the sentences that are written. All employees should have near vision because they deal with things on a daily that they need to be able to see up close. Lastly speech recognition is key because you need to recognize the words that are being spoken to you. To become a veterinary technician it takes a lot of education and training.
With becoming a technician you should hold a 2 year associate’s degree, you must take a credentialing exam and you must become certified. But, if you are enrolled in a high school that knows what path of a career you want to go down they offer internship classes to where you can find a job that meets your career and train with the employees to make sure that’s the career you want to

Some benefits that come with being a veterinary technician are 2-4 weeks of paid vacation, paid sick leave, and the abilities to work with animals daily. When going into a job the salary isn’t always the main thing to look at, the benefits are something that you should look more at to make sure if something comes up you will be covered. Having the opportunities to do the things you want to do or need to do in a job is important because some people might want to be able to go on a family vacation or visit distant relatives they haven’t seen in awhile so look into those things and always ask questions. Currently the job outlook for a veterinary technician is very bright. The employment for veterinary technicians is expected to grow 19 percent from the time of 2014 to 2024. The employment for veterinary technicians will grow as more people decide to take this path of a career. Once more people join this career they will take the place of the lower skilled technicians. Being a vet tech is a lot of work and it isn’t just getting to be with animals everyday it is hard work and the dedication to do it. To become a vet tech you have to go through the proper education and training required. An associate’s degree in veterinary technology is required to become a vet tech and takes about two years to accomplish (Exploring Medical Careers). An internship may also be a requirement of the tech course (Interview with a Veterinary Technician). Along with the degree, the Veterinary Technician National Exam must be passed to become certified. These tests cost $300.00 and are 170 questions long. The VTNE also offers two practice exams, each $45, to help one prepare for the actual exam (Vet Tech | VTNE | Veterinary Technician National Examination.). After becoming certified, a vet tech may have to undergo on the job training under supervision by a vet or an experienced vet tech (Collegegrad.com).

Vet Tech has always been an option for me, helping animals is something that is very interesting. It was introduced in 1989, the AVMA officially adopted the name “Vet Tech.” In 1998, emergency vets debut on Animal Planet. And in 2008, student population grows from 500 to 700. There are about 17,000 people employed in the career field chosen. Some of the common trends of the job would be, working at Zoos, Aquariums, Boarding Kennels, and Wildlife sanctuaries. These jobs are usually found working in an animal clinic or hospitals and sometimes at farms because that is the “normal” areas for this occupation. In this career there are some general duties such as: Observe animals behavior and conditions, Provide nursing care, Bathe animals, Clip nails, groom animals hair, keep animals calm during exams or procedures. The more specific duties of the job would be to: take x-rays of animals and develop them, get utensils and prepare the animals for surgery, keep and record patient's history. A Veterinarian Technician (vet tech) can have a rough life when the job involves saving animals. However the job takes, schooling, commitment, and having passion and love for animals. Being able to work and handle animals is a dream come true; it allows people to see what a pet can do for it’s handler. Maintaining a job that researches certain illnesses and broken bones allows a veterinarian technician to help animals in need. This helps bridge the gap between the environment and families all over the world who love animals.

For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. You will be able to get a great amount of hours working if you strictly tell them that you want to be on call or work on the weekends. They have the option to develop within their field, which translates to more money and opportunities. This position entails working in biomedical facilities, wildlife facilities, diagnostic labs, food safety inspection facilities, and drug and food manufacturing companies. The disadvantages are, long hours can be demanding on the body. Dealing with the death of animals can also have effects on the professionals. My whole life I have loved being around animals. I love taking care of them, petting them, walking them, and basically anything you can think of, that is why I want to become a veterinarian so badly. I believe I will be successful in this career because I am good with solving problems as well as dealing with people in stressful situations. A vet specializes in determining and curing illnesses in animals. There are multiple types of vets; some specialize in big animals (horses, cows, sheep, etc.) who travel to farms, and some specialize in small animals (dogs, cats, birds, etc.) who stay in-office or travel to a client’s home if necessary.
When i was growing up, my grandma lived on a small farm. Ever since growing up on that farm, i've had a deep love for animals, and always wanted to do something with them for a living. Being a veterinarian requires a lot of hard work, education, time and patience, but the rewards of the career absolutely outweigh that.
