My infographic is about some of the side effects Veterans come home with. In my infographic, it contains four charts. The charts my infographic contains are, a pie chart containing information about PTSD, a swatch chart with holding information about alcoholism, a triangle bar that has information about drug/ medication abuse, and a horizontal bar graph that encloses information about the number suicides.
PTSD Pie Charts
The PTSD pie charts on my infographic are about the percentage rates about veterans getting/ having PTSD after their duties. Iraq veterans have 13.8% of their veterans getting/having PTSD, as shown in first pie chart shaded dark orange. Gulf War veterans have 12% of their veterans getting/having PTSD, as shown in the second pie chart shaded light green. The general population of veterans have 3.5% chance of having/getting PTSD, as shown in the third pie chart shaded in pink. 15.2% of male veterans have/gotten PTSD after

Alcoholism Swatch Chart
The swatch chart on my infographic contains information about alcoholism. Alcoholism rates for veterans are higher than the general population. Veterans with active duty service have a rate of 47% of alcoholism rate with a rate of one drink a week for the past month, as shown in chart as the gray line on top. Rates for veterans that have been exposed to high combat are 27% have a had drink once a week for the past month, as shown in the chart as the black line on the bottom. 3. Drug/Medication Abuse Triangle Bar
The triangle bar contains information about the rates of drug/medication abuse. For civilians, the rate of drug/medication abuse is 4.4%, as shown on the left triangle shaded as light pink. While on the other hand, veterans have a 11.4% rate of drug/medication abuse, shown as the dark pink triangle to the right. Rates like this are abnormal because the rates for veterans with drug/medication abuse are two times as much as the rate for civilians. 4. Suicide Horizontal Bar
It is well known that veterans have the opportunity to pursue a college education after they have served. The problem is students do not know how to appropriately approach or interact with them. Society has even been led to fear them. Edward Palm, author of, “The Veterans are Coming! The Veterans are Coming!”, uses his personal experience to argue that there are five applications of “common sense” to be used when interacting with veterans. Because Palm very effectively uses Ethos in his argument, along with the connotation that veteran interaction is simply “common sense”, any “typical” CU student would more than likely be persuaded. Although Palm’s argument is already very well constructed, there are still some changes he could have made to make it even stronger.

My grandfather, Larry, served in WWII. He enlisted and stationed at Camp Polk. He went through places like New Guinea and the Philippines during the war.
Imagine living in despair after coming back home, dismayed from a war that got no appreciation. Robert Kroger once said in his quote, “The brave men and women, who serve their country and as a result, live constantly with the war inside them, exist in a world of chaos. But the turmoil they experience isn’t who they are, the PTSD invades their minds and bodies.” Eleven percent of Vietnam Veterans still suffer with symptoms of the terrifying disorder of PTSD (Handwerk). Vietnam Veterans struggle with the physiological effects of PTSD after war, which leads to despair and many deaths.
“Ultimately, diagnosis of a substance use disorder or PTSD relies on clinical assessment using DSM criteria. Screening instruments exist that can help uncover or point the way toward a potential diagnosis. For alcohol use disorders, the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and the AUDIT-Consumption (AUDIT-C) have been widely validated as self-report screening measures. A single-item screening measure was recently validated for drug use disorders consisting of the single question, “How many times in the past year have you used an illegal drug or used a prescription medication for nonmedical reasons?” A response of 1 time or more yields a positive screen.” -Returning Veterans With Addictions. Drug abuse has changed over the years due to the trends that Americans face from the encouragement of different cultures. The abuse of substances creates many health problems. The following will discuss the past and current trends of drug use and the effects these drugs have on the health of the individuals who abuse the drugs.
Contradictory to popular belief, teens are not of the majority of drug related deaths. Teenagers made up just two percent of drug related deaths in a 1994 survey of coroners. Many of these numbers are down dramatically from the 1970s, when illegal drugs were more available throughout the United States. Half of drug overdoses and suicides nationwide are men age thirty-five to fifty-four. Possible reasons for the dramatic difference between teenage drug deaths and middle-aged drug deaths are mid-life depression prior to drug use, more time to build as worsening habit, and the fact that most young people are primarily experimenting with drugs and not using them on a full time basis. Interestingly enough, Vietnam veterans had a higher level of drug-abuse fatalities than the rest of the population, probably due to their exposure to drugs derived from opium and the use of drugs to avoid flashbacks. Suicide rates among female drug users are higher t...

Every business personal is trying to get the most appropriate data relevant to them out of the huge amount of data in easiest format to make the decisions. Visual Analytics mainly focus on how to represent the huge and complex information in a easy and user understandable format. Bar graphs and pie charts are required to have broader view towards the hugely available information for quick decision making. To look into the information with a specialized view for digging in the information table values is necessary. Understanding how Visual Analytics is crucial for data representation in different domains and different situations.
An important part of decision making is having a clear understanding of the information used to base decisions from. Charts can be valuable when a need to represent numerical data would benefit communicating information visually. Some of the most important aspects of a good chart are to select the right type of chart (or graph) that can best characterize the data, also, to keep the design simple in order for an audience to easily understand the information.
When studying the statistics of drug-drug interactions it can be very difficult. Some people may not be comfortable to telling a stranger about the drugs that they are taking. Some people may lie and say they are taking less drugs than they actually. One journal found some interesting statistics on the number of drugs that adults are taking in developed countries. According to Simone Dohle and Ian G. Dawson in 2017 in the journal titled Putting Knowledge into Practice: Does Information on Adverse Drug Interactions Influence People’s Dosing Behavior they stated that in a “recent study it indicated that nearly 70% of the adult population in developed countries now use medical prescribed drugs, over 20% are prescribed five or more

As an outcome of missed opportunities of treatments, abusers become homeless, very ill, or even worst, death.
