Every individual has a different set of values, and they help us know what is right and wrong. When we define our values, we discover what is important to us. According to Chapter 2 in the McShane book, values are defined as “relatively stable, evaluating beliefs that guide our preferences for outcome or courses of action in a variety of situations”. (McShane, 2008, pg.10). Values help us know what is right, and wrong. Values are very important, because they influence my actions and decisions on a daily basis at work. I highly value my family, success/achievement, respect, honesty and concern for others. First of all, family is very important to me, because no matter what happens in my life, my family will always be there. My family taught me a lot of things about life that I will take with me for the rest of my life. They taught me that life will always have its ups and down, but I have to be strong and work hard to overcome obstacles that come and go. Furthermore, I have willingness to work hard, because it brings success in my life and it helps me achieve my goals. My goal in life is to complete my degree in Management, and work my way up the ladder to become a store manager at Walgreens. Based on “Understanding your score on Swartz scale” self-assessment, achievement is very important to me. Achievement gives me an unbelievable sense of satisfaction, and pride. I worked really hard for three years to become a Shit Lead at Walgreens, and I am thankful that I was offered to take this position. As of right now, I am looking forwards to becoming a store manager. I believe that I have a strong work ethic. Furthermore, as a child I was taught to show respect to elderly people, therefore I have lots of respect for others. I ... ... middle of paper ... ...e customers, and showing empathy to each customer is a great technique to calm them down. Sometimes you have to place yourself in their shoes, and feel what they are feeling. Not all of my customers are irate, but some can be a bit difficult to work with. Having this ability to relate to others is important to me because, I have a chance to help my customers, employees, and everyone else. It does not bother me when I run into conflicts with people. According to the SDI self-assessment, when things are going well, I am very altrusitc-nurtung, which states that I have a concern for others. I am very friendly, helpful, considerate, supportive, and sincere; therefore, that is why I enjoy helping customers in our store. I strive hard to create a better working environment. I enjoy helping people! When I run into conflicts, I strive to maintain peace and harmony. (SDI)

Everyone has their own personal values that the gain throughout their lives. Some of these values are passed down through the different generations of their family. Values can change over time and some people learn more values as they grow up. I personally have gained a range of different values in the past eighteen years of my life. My own values include: respect, honesty, empathy and trust. I gained the value of respect through my parents as I was always told to show respect to others and they would then show me respect back. When I was really young I had to respect other people’s things and their feelings. Through my parents I was brought up to believe that it is always better to be honest and tell the truth about everything. I feel that
“This is part of what family is about, not just love, but letting others know that there is someone watching out for them”(Albom 92). From this quote, one learns that family is always there for them. Family is important to life because
Part of what makes Publix more inviting is the look of their stores. They have a cool vintage look
Value is someone’s moral standard of right and wrong, and is based off of one’s motivations or aspirations of life. Common values include loyalty, patriotism, and trust.
For ages, humanity has wrestled with the idea of life, along with one’s privileges and rights. Through old and ancient civilizations humanity has learned to create and maintain an perfect utopia. But even to the most advanced civilizations that we have encountered, how much do they think we are worth? Could they even begin to express the value behind a person and his/her life? How would it be measured? Would humans be priced by the elements they’re composed of? Would it be measured by a person’s health and life expectancy? How about traits, how would those be put into account? Would a person who is fit to work in rigorous places be worth more than a person who is tech savvy? All these questions will need to be addressed. No one is the same. The fact that some many people have strived in order to receive what one deserves. Not everyone makes the same amount of money. Some people work more, and others work less. Some make more and others make less, no one is worth the same price because no one in this world is the same as the next. I agree with how life insurance works because if one can afford it due to the fact that one has worked hard enough to get the money one need to pay for it. It is thought that everyone should be labeled the same price because everyone is human and inside everyone is the same, but that is not the case no one is exactly like the other. By someone earning more income in life than the others, that shows that on the outside they've lived all totally separate lives and therefore need the different amounts of money when a loved one passes. The fact that everyone is different gives society a reason to put a monetary value on people.
I have a long list of values that I find very important to me, but there is a few that stand out the most. Those values are family, friendship, hard work, responsibility, respectfulness, independence, equality, and honesty. My personal values are extremely important
The values that impact my decisions include: accountability, truth, honor, spirituality, reliability, kindness, ambition, family and compassion just to name a few. My grandfather was a successful business man in the 1930’s through 1980’s. He was a firm believer that you are only as good as your word. He did business with a hand shake and a smile. Teaching his grandchildren that if a man’s word is of no value, neither is he. Furthermore, he taught us the importance of sticking with your fundamental beliefs and principals. The value that is non-negotiable in my life is integrity. I believe it is important to be ethical, honest, truthful, reliably and trustworthy in every aspect of life. I am inspired and driven professionally by compassion, kindness and a belief in healing those that are
Values can affect ones character depending on what trait they pick up rather it’s a negative or positive one. For example, a father makes a promise to his child to take the child to the park. If the father never keeps his promise then every time he makes another promise the child make have lack of trust in their father to keep that promise. Especially there is no good reasoning why the father could not keep the promise. This may be because the father has bad values. Now, if that same father makes the same promises and keeps those promises, the child now believe their father that when he make a promise he does what he says and that build trust. Trust builds character and the father would look upon as having a good value...
Supermarket chains are one of the most complicated business's to open in the United States of America. In my town of Hillsborough, New Jersey we have 3 supermarket chains called Shop-Rite, Weis, and Super Stop & Shop. Each supermarket has their strengths and weaknesses. Shop-Rite has three large strengths: Customer Service, stock availability, and pricing. When you walk into shoprite you can tell every cashier/worker loves to be there and enjoys their job throughly and are extremly polite and helpful to their customers. Shoprite stocks up on their food/supplies they sell everyday to have maxiumum capacity so customers can find what they want when they want. Next their pricing is next to none. They offer pletnly of price reductions if you are
Values remind me of ethics and morals, necessary in any walk of life and imperative in the work place. These concepts are guidelines in which employees need to follow to be successful. “Values represent basic convictions that a specific mode of conduct or end-state of existence is personally or socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end-state of existence.” (Robbins, 136) Integrity, courage, service, wisdom, respect and goal setting are a few of the values that are most crucial to me and what I hope to achieve within any work place setting. Values should be lived every day in the work place and should exemplify the
I live at home with both of my parents, my second oldest brother, and occasionally my oldest brother and niece visit as well. I grew up with the concept from both of my parents that family is important, no matter what family always comes first. My father showed me this concept in many situations like working all across the country and having to stay away from home to provide. Or even before he had a family and immigrated to the United States so his future family could have a better life. Because of the concept that family comes from, my family is very important to me.
Values in my opinion should determine your priorities, and they’re probably the measures, you use to tell if your life is turning out the way you want it to. Knowing your own values can help you make decisions about how to live your life. The values that I believe in play a very important role in my life. These important values have been greatly influenced by my family and life experiences. My core values include family, health, knowledge, happiness, friendship, loyalty, trust, hard work, honesty, and learning.

Understanding who we are as individuals can be a struggle for people throughout life. It can be difficult to comprehend who we are and why we exist. There are daily outside influences that help create who we are and what our values are. Values play a significant role in our lives. They shape the choices we make and reveal a big part of our identity to the world. Some values may be more important than others, but they still manage to influence our lives in one way or another, whether we know it or not. Values can range from a tangible item to an idea that has influenced us to stand by and remember those values. The values we hold with the highest importance act as a guide and help us prioritize our purpose and goals in our daily life. I value my family more than anything because most of my core inner values have started from their teachings at one point or another. My top values that I have developed from my family are dedication, honesty, and wisdom.
