In the song Confessions Part ll by Usher, he is talking about saying sorry to his wife that while he was away he got a girl pregnant and is apologizing to her. In the song Usher says, “‘bout that chick and part 1 that I was creepin with, creepin with, say she three months pregnant and she’s keepin it”. In this quote usher is telling the listener that he was hanging out with a girl and she told him that she was pregnant and he is the father. Usher then goes on to say “Third thing I was me wishin’ that I never did what I did, how I ain’t ready for no kid and bye bye to our relationship.” In this he is talking about how he is regretting his decisions and loves his girlfriend more than the other girl. He then doesn’t know how he is going to tell
her that he got another girl pregnant. The third thing that Usher says is “She opened up the door and didn’t want to come near me”. He is saying that he went to her house and she let him in and that is when he told her what happened. She then was so mad and sad that she didn’t want to see him. In the song Usher is character his fiance saying that he know that she is going to be mad at him and he says “Be a man and get it over with” to explain it. Usher also uses mood in this song. He says “Sittin here stuck on stupid tryna figure out, when, what and how imma let this come out of my mouth”. He is talking about how he feels and how he knows he messed up.
...just between us hint at it’s a boy but does not say so. The song lets everyone know it’s hard to be a dad “when I thought my patience had been tested to the end I took my daddy’s secret and I passed it on to him”. I agree with the stereotype of this song it is hard to be a dad. There is an old saying any man can be a Father but it takes someone special to be a dad. I think the song seek to enforce the role of the family and of being a dad. Telling you it’s hard and your patience to be a dad, but it’s worth it. I think this social norm needs to be reinforced there is too many father out there and not enough dad.
Sheri and Lane are in quite a predicament, faced with the chose to keep the baby or to have an abortion. Sheri will undoubtedly keep the baby because she would feel guilty if she has an abortion. In the moment when Lane Dean saw into Sheri’s heart her saw “This down-to-earth girl who smelled good and wanted to be a nurse would take and hold one of his hands in both of her to unfreeze him and make him look at her, and she would say that she cannot do it”(Wallace 219). This moment where Sheri doesn’t even have to speak a word, just by her actions Lane Dean knows that she doesn’t have the heart to go through with an abortion. Lane Dean Jr. knows that Sheri would feel guilt and she tries t...
Moving forward in their adventure together, Taylor feels that she is more mature than she ever was and realizes that being a mother is not a bad thing. The adoption certificate symbolizes evidenceevidence, and the freedom of discrimination that some people may have against her. Taylor expresses, “That means you’re my kid,’ I explained, ‘and I’m your mother, and nobody can say it isn’t so” (p.311). This tells us how satisfies Taylor is to become a mother for Turtle. This paper will outline specific points in Saint Augustine’s Confessions that highlight religious views following the fall of Rome. Though Augustines views on religion may not reflect that of most people in his time period, it still gives valuable insight into how many, namely Neoplatonists,, viewed God and his teachings.
Almost twenty years ago, around this time of the month, you had a baby girl on November twenty-six. Like every parent you are happy, smiling at the baby, holding my hands and taking pictures. I grew up, stood up, walked for the first time, said my first words, and lost my baby teeth. It’s time for me to go to my first day of school; you don’t want me to go because you got use to my presence in the house. Meanwhile, you are low-key wishing for me to stay a baby girl, when you know perfectly that it isn’t going to happen.
“Yes, she’s really young and you fuck a whole lot, and during the act the two of you cling to each other for dear life, but afterward you peel away like you’re ashamed of yourselves.” (Diaz 7) They date for a couple of months and she ends the relationship to start another with a fellow class mate. Months later, Yunior arrives home to find the college law student in the lobby of his apartment building. She informs him that she is pregnant with his child. “I have nowhere to go. I can’t go back to my family.” (Diaz 9) Yunior lets allows her move into his apartment. Yunior’s writes in his journal “Only a bitch of color comes to Harvard to get pregnant. White women don’t do that. Asian women don’t do that. Only fucking black and Latina women. Why go to all the trouble to get into Harvard just to get knocked up? You could have stayed on the block and done that shit.” (Diaz 10) The law student reads the notebook and throws it in his face. “I fucking hate you, she wails.” (Diaz 10) This causes tension and she barely speaks to YUNIOR for the remainder of the time that she is at his apartment. Yunior receives a phone call that the student is in labor and rushes to the hospital. Upon his entry into the Delivery Room, the student shrieks, “I don’t want him in here. He’s not the father.” (Diaz 12) When Yunior realized that the child was not his he was
Throughout the whole story, both of the two denied that anything was wrong. The girl saw everything they could have. She did not want to think about it, however. The man simply does not want to deal with the baby. They chose to not look at the unavoidable challenge in front of them. They did not see the life and innocence of the baby. They chose to ignore the two choices, life or death. They chose to see neither the dry hills nor the lively hills on each side of the Ebro. They did not see the hills like white elephants.
...ogy by saying to her that she doesn't have to go through the operation if she doesn't want to, but convinces her to do so. Their lack of dialogue makes it easy for him to get his way all the time. He never approaches the real issue, like the emotional part of the abortion. Instead, he talks about how simple the operation really is. "I know you wouldn't mind it, Jig. It's really not anything. It's just to let the air in," he says. The man is not in love with her and only loves to please himself.
”The house smelled musty and damp, and a little sweet, as if it were haunted by the ghosts of long-dead cookies,” said Neil Gaiman, American Gods. This relates to Poe and Oates because in both of their stories there is a weird atmosphere and there is a ghost. Edgar Allan Poe was coeditor of Burton’s Gentlemen’s Magazine. It was in this magazine that he first published The Fall of the House of Usher (page 293). Joyce Carol Oates discovered the Gothic novels from many authors, one of them was Edgar Allan Poe. She states, “Horror is a fact of life!” Oates was born in a rural town (page 324). Setting and mood work together when it comes to The Fall of the House of Usher and Where is Here.
She has already lost a sense of security in her relationship. She doesn’t feel like he loves her anymore; unsure if he will again. Then, she will lose the life of a child. Heartbreakingly, she is hoping that this “simple” choice will renew the freedoms she had been enjoying. By Deciding to abort, she is “thereby rejecting the opportunity for a new, vital, and meaningful relationship. (Lanier 280)
These three girls described in this song relate to sociological characteristics of poverty, education, healthcare, marriage, and family. The biggest sociological aspect seen throughout all three girl’s stories, is poverty. Poverty is a big part of the song and shows some cases in which it is like to live in poverty. At the end of the song Ludacris is talking about how he has no idea what these girls have been through. He tells the girls to close their eyes and pretend that they are running away from their lives, when they open their eyes their problems will be gone and everything will be ok.
The author uses this line here " Son of a bitch! I'm so glad you're leaving! She began to cry. You can't even look me in the face, can you?" to show us the wife’s aggressive tone to drag the husband into a scuffle with her but the husband did not. However, she was in disbelief that her husband was leaving her, but she knew recent scuffles have aggravated their relationship and there is no point that he will return. In this line “I want the baby, he said.” Shows us the wife did not realize that her husband had already planned to take their baby from her. Therefore, the wife starts to scuffle with her husband to keep the baby with
This plays a large role in fictional short stories, so that the reader can relate to the characters within the text. Mankind usually live by a moral compass which is anything that serves to guide a person’s decisions based on morals or virtues. A moral compass is based strictly on the individual or the community in which they are a part of. Each and every person has their own set of morals in which they live by day to day. Having morals plays an even greater role in society, daily life, and personal decisions made by the person. These could mean honesty when talking to others, being loyal to oneself or a community, or even having the courage to speak one 's mind. Mankind as a whole have community moral compasses that are guided by many of the same morals and/or values. Honesty is a key moral all try to abide by, but lying to someone is one of the easiest morals to break because one is only telling someone what they want to hear. Which is why the man is using dishonesty in the form of lying as a tactic to convince Jig to do what he wants her to with her unborn child. In the story the man constantly reassures Jig that after the operation is completed the relationship that they have will go back to the way it was before she even conceived. He also explains how the operation is very simple and once it is over she will be okay. By him telling Jig these statements he is lying to her which is on the opposite end
The Indian Evidence Act does not define the term “confession”. In his book The Digest, Lord Stephen defined confession as- An admission by an accused from which an inference can be drawn that he has committed the crime. The Indian court relied on this definition for a long period of time which was later on modified by the Privy Council holding that only direct acknowledgment of guilt can be regarded as a confession.
