Usain Bolt will go down in history as the fastest man alive unless someone can break his newest record, which seems to be unlikely. On May 31, 2008 he broke the world record in the 100 meter sprint, with a wind-legal (+1.7m/s) 9.72 seconds. After Usain broke that record no one thought he could break it again but I sure knew the fastest man could break it again, on August 16, 2008 Usain set a new 100 meters world record of 9.69 seconds at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. I believe that Usain is the best of the time and will most likely stay credited as the fastest man for eternity. I believe Usain is an outstanding sprinter because, in the 2008 Summer Olympics he won three gold medals. He became the first man in Olympic history to win both
Sanders continues adding to his extraordinary numbers on the field. He has run for 1,300 yards and now stands seventh among the NFL’s all-time rushers with 11,472, having surpassed Ottis Anderson, O.J. Simpson and John Riggins. He’s 128 yards behind Kansas City’s Marcus Allen, Sanders’ boyhoodhero when he was growing up in Wichita, Kan., and Allen was a Los Angeles Raider. Next year, providing he keeps up this trend of 1,000-yard seasons, Sanders will pass Franco Harris (12,120), Jim Brown (12,312) and Tony Dorsett(12,739) and slide into third place behind Eric Dickerson (13,259) and Walter Payton (16,726). Sanders is the first player in league history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in eight straight seasons, and Thursday he was named to his eighth straight Pro Bowl. “Anytime he touches the ball, it’s a highlight reel,” says Allen, now in his 15th NFL season.
and bad breaks. All in all it was a good season, but not exactly what
Detroit's sporting hero, the best Lions player ever, one of the greatest running backs in NFL history; Barry Sanders is a great running back, but don’t take my word for ...
... have been re-entered into Olympic record books and he is now widely acknowledged as one of the greatest athletes of all time(About.com). But throughout his shorter and memorable life. One thing people just look over completely is the problems he had with racism and segregation especially in the earlier part of his life but he overcame all obstacles and was on top for a very long time.
Ever since we were young we have been fascinated by the dinosaurs. We have played with dinosaurs as children, watched documentaries as adults with interest, and watching movies with enjoyment. No dinosaur from the past strikes more fear in the present day to the average person then that of Tyrannosaurus Rex. For decades children have played with dinosaurs and had T-Rex dominating other dinosaurs by chasing them down and destroying them. We have seen it time and time again in movies. In Jurassic Park we saw T-Rex terrorize humans, cars, and other dinosaurs. We have even dreamt about it, but if a recent study is correct we are false in our fears.
In the many years since this incident, no one has come close to Ben Johnson's time. The next fastest that has ever been ran was a 9.84 by fellow Canadian Donovan Bailey in the 1996 Summer Olympics. Steroids definitely enabled Ben Johnson to reach a new level that others haven't.
The story of Roger Bannister becoming the first to break the 4-minute mile barrier in 1954 is proof of positive thinking. He also used textbook application of goal setting and self-leadership to overcome this barrier. With the race being a long-term goal, Roger begin setting short-term goals to help him accomplish his goal. He starts with a workout consists of ten 440-yard sprints with 2-minute rest intervals in between. For each 440, he and his training partners set for 60 seconds. Over months of hard training, they were able to get close to 60 seconds with the average time of 61. By the end of April, they were able to beat the time by averaging 58.9 seconds over ten 440s. After this, Roger knew he was ready to break all odds. Roger also
When you really lay out all of his attributes both on and off the field you really start to see the bigger picture. Not only is this guy one of the best in the NFL now but he could be one of the best wide receivers in the history of the league. He will not be remembered solely as an amazing talent however, he will also be remembered for his of the field activities. Such as helping out the paralyzed kid in need of a friend in tough times, or helping kids in need of a role model. For everything that he has shown me to this point, even after he is old and done with football he will be a great man to others in his society in the future. His story goes to show all people adults, and kids alike that if you keep a good head on your shoulders, and never quit you can achieve your biggest and wildest dreams.
In some people’s eyes Muhammed Ali is the greatest boxer ever. He was even classified as the greatest athlete in the 20th century by Sports Illustrated. He was the first to win the heavyweight title three times. He was a worldwide entertainer, and millions of people enjoyed watching his style. He was also very controversial because of his religious beliefs, his name change from Cassius Clay to Muhammed Ali and his refusal to fight in the Vietnam War.
It is evident that Jesse Owens proved to the world what no one at the time believed could be achieved. At a time when Blacks were not equal, there was no appreciation possible in the eyes of the Americans until the civil rights movement following after the cold war. Jesse Owens dealt with much more than any African American could ever imagine. Regardless of his immense achievements, Owens did not receive recognition for such important winnings until several years after the 1936 Olympics. Despite the hate that Owens received, he was able to surpass such negativity by being involved in other organizations and through this, Owens was victorious not only on the track but also as normal human being.
has to be mentioned. He was a man that fought intelligently, for the rights of African Americans,
Jim Thorpe was the greatest athlete of all time during 1912. Jim Thorpe had a tough childhood but he turned it around when he got the name “the greatest athlete in the world”. Even though he wasn't treated the same way as everyone else he still showed that he belonged and got through his tough times with the help of sports
Being a running back is the hardest position to play in football. In order to be the best running back like Walton Peyton, the athlete needs to study the playbook, perform speed drills, and practice hard.
The story all began in 1986. A baby was born. This baby was an ordinary baby with a future ahead of him. His name was Usain Bolt. Usain was a heck of a baby who was very bright. As he started going to school, not many people liked him because he was bright but shy and eventually wasn’t as bright. Usain kept his problem of not being wanted, away from his parents and because of that, the problem kept getting worse and worse every year. As time passed, Usain was now in grade 3 and got use to the bullying and unwantedness and lived in his own world. Usain had his own imaginary friends which he knew nobody can see, but that didn’t bother him.
In 2007 he broke the world 200-meter record held for over 30 years by Donald Quarrie and won two silver medals at the World Championship in Osaka, Japan. These medals encouraged Bolt's desire to run, and he took a serious stance toward his career.
