The rule of law is one of our chief defenses against terrorism. Our shared values of freedom and democracy are shielded when like-minded nations work together to promote justice” (Peter MacKay). The movie entitled United 93 is a suspense-drama movie directed by Paul Greengrass. This movie is about the United Airlines Flight 93 that was hijacked during the 9/11 terrorism attacks. The movie claims to be a true to life story reenacted by the actors. The claim of this film to be a true story had a great impact on my perception of the film. The passengers of the United Airlines Flight 93 were combinations of a former pilot, a doctor and other experienced people which made me hope that they would survive the situation. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to and the tragedy became more immense with the fact that no one survived. On the other hand, if I found out that this movie is not real, I would probably be less affected. I think I wouldn’t take the scenarios too seriously. In a nutshell, the “true story” statement created a big impact on how I or even most of the people reacted on the film; made anyone cringe as soon as they read it. Another good factor of the film is that the effects made me feel like I am also part of the movie. The scene where the plane was going down and shaking, the cameras were also moving in the same way the people in the plane moved which made me feel like I am part of that situation and I am one of the people in the plane.
