In “Underground Dads,” Will Haygood talks about the men in his life that influenced him since his dad was never around. He talks about his moms off and on boyfriend Jerry, who taught him to be honest, follow through on promises and trust. His grandfather Jimmy taught him good work ethics, perfection and independence. Lastly his uncle Henry taught him how important family is and patience. Haygood is showing that many different people besides your parents can influence you. There have been a few people besides my parents who have influenced me in my life. The first person that has influenced me in my life is my older brother Wala. He has taught me to not care what people think of me and how to stand up for myself. Growing up, I have always been closer to him than my other brothers. Like most siblings we are always joking around and fighting. He always picks on and makes fun of me like calling me ugly or stupid and I would always get mad and start hitting and yelling at him. When I was younger, I used to take it very seriously but as I got older I started standing up for myself and stopped getting mad the way that it used. My brother also has an ‘I don’t care’ personality and I think being around him it has influenced me to …show more content…
We are eight years apart so we have never been very close. He has always been very good in school and went to a U.C right after high school and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Engineer. He taught me that patience and hard work really pays off. After graduating, it was very hard for him to find a job but he still stayed patience. When he found a job it was a few hours away from us and didn't pay well but he still stuck to it for a little over a year for the experience. He then decided to quiet the job and move back home to study for his Masters. But recently he got offered a job at a good company. This has taught me that good thing comes with patience and hard
My brother and I have always been at each other’s throats all the way back to our forced meeting on the day of his birth. Do not get me wrong I love him and if he needed an organ I would be first in line with the promise to bug him about it until one of our deaths. As siblings we always have something sarcastic to say to each other, when the opportunity arises it never fails. Getting physical and pushing each other around is not a foreign concept to us.I mean if you can not wrestle with a sibling, are you really siblings? Are you really family? For as long as we have been forced to be siblings, physical situations have never gone too far, until 2008. In that year I was the victim of what many people would label criminal behavior.
Lastly I’ll tell you about my oldest step-brother Ty. Ty and I may not be related by blood, but we have similar personalities at times. Ty is a junior in college, and he loves fishing, hunting, football, and just about any other “guy” activity. He is so in love with football that he’s going to school to be a teacher just so he can coach football. He has always been protective of me when it comes to boys, but I like knowing that he cares. I can always count on Ty to put a smile on my face, but then again, it’s more likely he’ll be picking on me instead.
The one who influenced me to keep striving and to have determination is my father. Although, my father and mother are not together

... always perfect with us growing up. As a result, however, we both became two great kids and are constantly turning into even better adults. It is true that my brother is still the younger sibling and even at the age of 17 he is still receiving all the perks of being the baby. However, my parents are beginning to buckle down again, and crack down on his bad behavior around the home. As a result I see him getting in more trouble now then he did as a kid. Of course I do wonder if the trouble he is getting into now even impacts him because he has grown out of his formative years. I guess only time will tell.
Brothers and sisters often do this because they share so much in common. Our relationship is sometimes good and sometimes bad, but it is always solid. It could stand to be a little more positive on both sides at some point. We share an intellectual and emotional intimacy that most siblings have. The commonality between the two of us facilitates this.
One influence on my life is people. Miss Haferman is a person who has had a very great influence on my life. She was my first grade teacher.
Brother pushes him to his limits and because of that, he is the reason
As I read the article “Underground Dads” by Will Haygood I seen that everyone doesn’t have it like I did. I grew up with both of my parents and I got everything I wanted. I really look up to two people in my life those people would be my mother and my sister. The reason being is that they both showed me how to be an independent women. I am so thankful for having them in my life and by them teaching me the way life goes help me become they person I am today.
Generally, sibling rivalry can be quite simple in relationships. It’s easy to generate within a family, especially one with two or more siblings, because
Although I have had those two great influences, I have had some bad ones as well. Although this may sound like a bad thing, it is not. Being from the inner city of Cleveland, I was able to see a lot of things that others would not be able to see. By looking at these people as examples, I was able to depict what it really meant to do what was good and what what was bad, based on societal norms. Other factors such as my foster parents, and siblings have contributed in teaching me what w...
My family experiences has shaped who I am today and has given me the base for my strengths and has also shaped what I would say are my weaknesses. Being raised in a low-income working class family we had many struggles to face as I was growing up. There were
A lot of different things can impact a person’s life in such a way that it is unforgettable. For example, it could be the time you took a hike up a towering mountain and ended up getting peaceful view of the urban cityscape, or even the time you went to your first dreadful sleepover and were trembling with fear. It could even be person or multiple people such as friends, siblings, teachers, and even mentors. Personally, my family has been the people that have ultimately had the most influence on me as an individual. Family can vary from person to person, but for me it is the absolute most important thing I have. The people that have had a profound impact on me is my family; the way that different personalities all come together as one, the way they handle hard situations, and the closeness I have with the, is very inspiring to me.
