Earlier this year I had to go to the doctor and I found out that this area of Texas has very few ultrasound technicians and that they even had to call someone from Arizona to come help. In an area like this where sports is a major part of the culture. Choosing a career like this, in the medical field is a sound decision. The best job for me would have to be an ultrasound technician because the dress code is casual, it requires action, and the pay is good. Scrubs come in a variety of fun patterns and colors, a cool way of expressing interests and having fun with a small wardrobe. Supporting detail: I like to express myself in my clothes, which is important to me. Having fun with a wardrobe like scrubs would be something I could do easily. There are plenty of colors and styles to choose from. Having a suit or something like that to work is not something I could do. I’m not comfortable in stuffy or dress clothes. They make me feel claustrophobic and part of just a boring machine. Comfort is another huge thing with this. If I’m comfortable I can concentrate on the tasks ahead of me. Scrubs are loose and not constricting. …show more content…
Keeping my individuality is a great reason for wanting to choose this job. It makes me feel more confident in my decision. I can become anxious easily and being an ultrasound tech requires action.
Supporting detail: Sitting at a desk to work is not appealing. I’m an anxious person and I need to move, more often than not, to keep myself calm. Supporting detail: The job requires a lot of time walking, which means a lot of time on your feet. I could be needed across the hospital or I could stay in the area where patients have ultrasounds done. Stamina will be needed. Supporting detail: Other than walking and building up the stamina for walking so much during a day, being an ultrasound tech also requires upper body strength for helping patients reposition or transferring patients from bed or from a wheelchair (Burton). Conclusion and transition: Overall action is important to me. Being able to walk often helped me with my decision along with my other
points. Growing up living paycheck to paycheck has made me want to be able to earn good money so I can, in the future, support my family. Entry level annual salary for an ultrasound tech is around $50,500 in Texas and with more experience the annual salary can be more (Burton). In the future if I decide to have a family, working with this job I could make a good living and make sure my future family is happy and healthy as well as being able to pay bills on time. The amount of school that you need is at least an associate’s degree. With a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree the salary can be even more. Which is a good amount of money with the amount of schooling that you need. Having a good paycheck is important to me, just like individuality and action. I took dress code, how much action I would be doing, and the pay into consideration when I was making my decision. It took a lot of consideration but I’m sure that this is the best job for me. I did a lot of work to figure out what I wanted to do for my future and I’m finally happy with my results.
