HOW TO DO LAUNDRY
To be an independent person it is a must to know how to care for your own laundry. These instructions will help those who have never done laundry or have little knowledge of how to do it. Knowing the basics of laundry care is a vital life skill. Prep work is indeed a must to know so you don’t ruin your clothes. In order to complete these instructions one will need to have access to a washing machine, clothes dryer, dirty clothing, and laundry detergent. Keep this is a time consuming task that could take 2-4 hours depending on how many loads of laundry one has.

5. Turn knob to the appropriate cycle setting. Select the correct wash cycle.
• Normal/Regular cycle: Used for whites, towels, underwear, socks, and heavily soiled items.
• Permanent Press: Used for Jeans, polyesters, non-cotton fabrics, and items that tend to wrinkle easy.
• Delicate cycle: Used for anything relatively delicate. Such as bras, dry-fit wear, silk, or if the tag says gentle wash.
6. Add laundry detergent. The load size of the laundry will determine how much detergent to use. Generally, the detergent lids will have marked off amounts for easy use.
• Small load- fill 1/3 of the detergent lid up.
• Medium load- fill 2/3 of the detergent lid up.
• Large load- fill the detergent lid all the way up.
7. Add bleach to the laundry. All fabric bleach is intended for tough stains and safe for colored cloths. Bleach containing chlorine is for getting whites brighter.
8. Unload the washer. Remove clothing from the machine once finished to prevent mildew and wrinkles from occurring.
9. Load the dryer. Turn the dryer knob to the correct dryer setting.

Production of cloth by hand is rarely engaged in today’s Westernized societies. Not many people are thinking about how the fibers are actually constructed to make their clothes. However, in other cultures across the world the tradition of weaving still exists. By comparing three cultures that continue weaving as a part of their tradition we can see similarities and the differences between them. The reasons that each culture still weaves vary, as do the methods and materials. The desired characteristics of the cloth also vary around the world as each culture values different aesthetics.
First of all, the fibres can classified as natural or man-made fibres. Natural fibres are those obtained from the natural resources on the environment, whereas the man-made fibres could be synthetic or regenerated fibres. Synthetic fibres are completely made from chemicals while regenerated fibres are those originally from natural resources unsuitable to be used as fibres directly, processed chemically to be changed into textile fibres. In this assignment, we will study on the general textile manufacturing processes as listed below.
