My name is Tyrion Lannister, I was born the second son of Tywin and Joanna Lannister of Casterly Rock. I have an older brother and an older sister named Jaime and Cersei, both of whom were destined for greatness as greatness was expected of them. Me? I was born a dwarf as well as a second son, nothing is expected of me. Many people have fond memories of family, I on the other hand do not. I do not ever remember my mother, not the brightness of her smile, or the way her hair flowed in a summer's breeze, or even a soft kiss upon my young cheek. The reason I don't know all of these things is because my mother died giving birth to me, a fact my father and my sister still to this very day curse with every breath in their spiteful bodies. My brother Jamie is a good sort, I often enjoyed his company, I always respected him, and he never lied to me. …show more content…
If my father had his way I would have been taken to the cold winter woods of the North and left to die in the frozen tundra or to be eaten by wolves, whichever happened to befall me first.
As I was born a Lannister I was to be raised like one. I learned very on that the mind is often the most dangerous weapon of all, stronger than any blade made of Valyrian Steel, more dangerous than any assassin's blade, and more often than not more powerful than the King on the Iron Throne. Being an Lannister meant I could not be a burden but a bright star that would bring honor to the family, though there was so little honor to be had with my father and sister running things. I had not the strength of my brother Jaime so I could not fight. I was not a beautiful maiden like my sister so I could not be expected to be married off to a powerful family. No, I was to use my intellect. The maesters got me any book I could get my tiny fingers on and I read them
all. I was too young to recall the events of King Robert's rise to power or my family's part in it except for my brother plunging his sword into the Mad King's back. Oh, what a tale that was to hear, speaking of tales I have one to share with you all today. There once was a dwarf, a very very sad dwarf, and he was walking along the road where he came across a woman. This woman had been hurt by some very bad men, and the dwarf wanted to heal the woman. After the dwarf's brave noble brother drove off the bad men the dwarf did just that. The woman and the dwarf fell in love and with the help of the dwarf's brother, and a septon they just happened to find, the dwarf and the woman were married. The couple were happy until an evil tyrant cloaked in red came and deemed the woman unfit for the dwarf. He had his men pay her a silver coin each time they wanted to use her as those evil men had done that day, and the tyrant made the dwarf watch. The woman left and the dwarf never saw her again, the end. The dwarf never did forgive the tyrant for what he did and to this day the dwarf wishes he could put an arrow into the black heart of that tyrant.

When you hear of historical figures that “conquered” a certain time period, you think of barbarians, spartans, or other gruesome, battle-tested men. While William I, the King of England and Duke of Normandy, was also nicknamed the “Conqueror”, he achieved success reigning over his time period in very different ways than that of Genghis Khan or Alexander the Great. Regardless of his path to success, William I played a huge part in the religious evolution of England. Using his advantageous leadership position, William I was able to be prosperous for many decades. His illustrious career is historical proof that a country does not need to be overtaken by brute force alone. William the Conqueror was a very commendable leader, and he used his knowledge, leadership, and military prowess to conquer multiple countries for almost the entirety of his life.
When I was a child I thought everybody’s family would be the same, just your average family like mine and yours. My life as a child was a carefree life, I didn’t care for much, except stuff like doctors or dentist, I’ve done pretty much what an average kid did, I thought we had a good life going. When I went to my classmate’s house or meet their family they seemed like they were average to me. I never thought about how us as a family would have any trouble in the world, I was wrong.

The use of social status' and roles and the difference between them in King Lear are endless. William Shakespeare's play, King Lear, provides an understanding on everything from illegitimate children, mental illness, the poor and the wealthy. The play seems to test and analyze some sixteenth century social structures but offers some profound solutions. It also takes a really hard look at England's social troubles but ultimately ends up supporting the existing conditions. Shakespeare's “social paradox" is described as the way we productively criticize and challenge the claim that social hierarchies are naturally harsh, while at the same time, increases and aid these very perceptions continuously. Although Shakespeare envisions a world where characters overturn the usual code and regulations of society, he also discusses the fundamentals of these laws for the prosperity of a strong social body. The social status of the characters dominates their every day life and even meddle with their world of sensibility, whether in higher or in lower class. By seeing how three different characters display Shakespeare's "social paradox", a reader today can comprehend the twist that Shakespeare offered his Elizabethan audience more thoroughly.
Stephen King has labeled himself as the ‘Big Mac of writing’, as he is the name of entire genre because of his dark stories. In the 70’s, horror was not the most popular genre in literature, but Stephen single-handedly changed this. His novels, short stories, and films have become award-winning horror classics that generated the genre. Rolling Stones asked Stephen in an interview about his choice to write horror novels and how he entered one of the least respected genres of fiction. King responded:
When you first hear that you are going to be king, I want you to show your bewilderment, as you ask the witches to “stay”, you must show surprise and fear, ignoring your companions. In your ‘aside’, you must reveal your deepest thoughts in a fast-speaking pace, when you state “the greatest is behind”, after you learn that you are to be promoted to the Thane of Cawdor. I want you to grip your sword tightly, to convey your hidden desire. You ignore Banquo’s warning, when he tells you: “to win us to our harm, / The instruments of Darkness tell us truths”. Banquo, I want you to adopt a worried expression and a warning tone, to alert Macbeth about the dangers ahead. Dramatic irony foregrounds what will happen to you, Macbeth and you should show that, at this point, you are not concerned with the
Shakespeare today, as a staple of British literature, is considered in terms of both textuality and materiality. His influential sonnets and plays are compiled into anthologies, discussed in scholarly articles, translated into modern, twenty-first century language, and incorporated into curriculums across the world. No longer is Shakespeare’s work immaterial; his writing can be held in two hands and flipped through frivolously, and the pages can be torn, bent, and written on in permanent ink without a second thought. This concept is particularly relevant in relation to Margreta De Grazia’s essay, “Shakespeare’s Entitlement: Literary Property and Discursive Enclosure” and Edmond Malone’s The Plays and Poems of William Shakespeare. The introduction
