Introduction
People always said knowledge can change their life. For many reasons, people keep learning new things, then the skills of study turns to be more important. Nowadays, thanks for the internet; the world is full of different information. It is difficult to let people study all of them, how to study and what to study becomes a problem. Therefore, we have different study skills to help us study them; Cognitive Learning Styles; Info processing model chart; Time management and goal setting; Twelve Principles of Memory; Brain Dominance Theory and the note taking are part of them. Many people keep asking the best study skill, but in my opinion, I think what they are looking for is the suitable way to study.
Cognitive Learning Styles
Cognitive Learning Styles have separate people to three types.
The Visual Learners, they will highlight important information in textbooks, pictures, and good at charts, graphs, or small sections of printed information. For example, my best friend Helen Ng needs to highlight the main point in different colors, and study it one by one, she said this kind of methods can let her keep in focus.
The Auditory Learners, read load and recite frequently can help their study easier. The example of auditory learners is Kangxi Emperor, the king of Qing Dynasty, he recite each books 50 times to make sure he won’t forgot. Chung-Hsuan Cheng (2011).
And Kinesthetic Learners, they usually use handle objects, tools, or machinery to study they may also use a computer to type information and use muscle memory. Thomas Alva studies a lot of books, and improves the typewriter for studies and inventions. ZHOU ZUO DUN,ZHU YI YUAN (2002).

Finally, I am sure I can do better in the following university life, and different kinds of study skills are really helpful for me to improve my study and career, I will use these kinds of skill in next few years.
This is the example of my time table, we can still find a lot of times able to do our other things. Such as reading, playing games, or talk with friends, we can use it to study more or have some working experiences, so we can make our times more effective.

The visual learners prefer to use pictures, images, maps, colors, and spatial intelligence, which assist them to arrange their information, interact with others and give them a great sense of direction. They are great at accumulating information, curious and inquisitive due to the fact that without adequate information, the portrait of what they are learning will be imperfect. They are also enthusiastic about theory and facts; system diagram helps them to visualize the connection between parts of a system; story method assists them to learn by heart the content that cannot be seen easily. Such as 5 x 5=25, and lifting five pounds five time is a total of twenty-five pounds. You see this comparison makes the student learn it better because he/she can use it in more ways than one. This technique has helped me the most when I was learning about percentages in math. I could not quiet get the hang of it, so the teacher applied it to how much money would one save if a $50.00 shirt was 20% off. This gave me the motivation to learn it. Second, you should be selective in what you learn. You only want to learn the main ideas and leave the supporting material alone. Learning styles is one of the ways schools have changed over the past couple of years in regards to diversity. The varieties of learning styles of students have become more aware to educators. There are three main learning styles; visual learning, kinesthetic learning, and auditory learning. Visual learners take up about half of student learners using textbooks, charts, course outlines, and graphs are useful instructional aides (Sadker, p. 47). Kinesthetic learning is also known as tactile learning. These students learn by hands on learning. Planning for student to have movement in class will help these learners. Our last learning style is the less of the three called auditory learning. These students learn best by hearing; they can remember the details of conversations and lectures and many have strong language skills (Sadker, p. 47). By providing a time for these students to recite the lesson themselves can support this form of learning. To be an effective teacher for all the learning style diversities means being able to be flexible and incorporate a variety of teaching techniques.
Two of the most important study skills are setting goals and taking notes. A student may set a time goal, such as studying a few hours a week; set a general goal, such as trying to study hard and stay on schedule; set a specific performance goal, such as getting at least 80% of the homework problems correct. Another important study skill is taking notes. Students generally make two kinds of mistakes in taking notes. One is to try to write down everything the instructor says, which leads to confusing notes. The other is to copy concepts that they do not understand but hope to learn by memorization. Good notes are compromised of the following: 1) written information summarized in your own words; 2) outline the important concepts; 3) try to associate the lecture notes with the material text; 4) asking yourself questions and making up questions from the notes.
In this essay I will be describing various types of learning styles and stating the advantages and disadvantages of these learning styles. I will also inform you of the most commonly used method of finding out your own learning style, and I will inform you of the man who made this method. Finally, I will write about my own preferred learning styles and the strengths and weaknesses of the different learning styles.
There are three types of learning styles. They are: auditory, visual and kinesthetic. An auditory learner processes information by hearing and discussing the information. Visual learners process information through visuals such as charts, pictures, and other types of printed information. Kinesthetic learners process information by muscle movements and experiences that are hands-on. Through the assessment I have discovered that my strongest learning style is a visual style with a score of 13, followed by kinesthetic, 8, and lastly auditory with a score of 4. Based upon this, my strength is using a visual learning style. The things I do now in studying that are within the guidelines include: read the book chapters and highlight while reading, pay special attention to charts and diagrams shown in the book or in class. By reading and highlighting I have found I can quickly go back through the information and reread the important facts, helping me remember them better. The more times I go over the information, the more effective I am come test day. I have found it very easy to read charts and diagrams in textbooks. Generally, by being able to read certain charts, it is much easier and faster to comprehend the information than if I was to read the paragraphs about it. The best thing to do when it comes to time management is to set a strategy, become organized and do your best to avoid procrastination. When you manage your time make sure you include the following; studying, sleeping, eating, relaxing and other necessary things. No matter what our circumstances are, we can all use some time management skills in our lives.
Personal learning styles are highly complex and unique to specific individuals. It is often difficult to pinpoint an exact learning style. Though there are different categories, we often fine tune them to our own abilities. By examining our traits and tendencies we create a clearer understanding of how we process and learn information. With careful review, I have developed a specific analysis of my learning characteristics, including an evaluation of skill levels. Based on what I have recently learned and know from experience, I have also devised a structured plan for improvement of time management and study skills.
The limitation of this essay is that no survey has been conducted, and so further research could be done regarding significant issues in time management.
