Nationalism is a devotion and loyalty to one's own country. Its a belief, political ideology that involves an individual identifying with, or becoming attached to, one's nation. Nationalism involves national identity, by contrast with the related construct of patriotism, which involves the social conditioning and personal behaviors that support a state's decisions and actions.
The idea of nationalism is very large and cannot be understood without studying the way humans identify and relate to each other in society. It’s a desire by a large group of people (such as people who share the same culture, history, language, etc.) to form a separate and independent nation of their own

Here are a few examples of "nationalism", some serious, and some not so serious:
 ETHINIC NATIONALISM:
Where the nation is defined in terms of ethnicity and descent from previous generations. It also includes the idea of a culture shared between members of the group, and usually a shared language.
 CIVIC NATIONALISM:
It’s the state that derives political justice from the active participation of its public and from the degree to which it represents the "will of the people". In this type of nationalism everyone gets freedom, equality and justice. Individuals have their own identity; apart from this individuals are also granted liberty.
 EXPANTIONIST NATIONALISM:
It’s a nationalism with a belief in expansionism and a radical form of imperialism. It is most closely associated with the likes of Nazism (National-socialism) and American Manifest Destiny and also shares some commonalities with …show more content…

NATIONALISM IN ISLAM:
Nationalism is a idea alien to Islam because nationalism calls for unity based on family and tribal whereas Islam binds people together on the Aqeedah, that is belief in Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saww). Islam calls for the ideological bond. Not only does Islam forbid people from grouping on nationalistic ties, but it also prohibits the establishment of more than one state, whether these states are based on nationalism or otherwise. The only state that is allowed for the Muslims is the Islamic State, which is a state that is governed exclusively by Islam.
Quran says not to be divided, and several hadiths talk against the disease of nationalism. If we take a look at current problems of Ummah, among other problems, it is obvious that we're divided, and therefore
