This theory paper will show the application of Maslow’s theory. This hierarchy suggests that people are motivated to fulfill basic needs before moving on to other, more advanced needs. Perry had a difficult childhood, His father was a Carpenter and his mother was a schoolteacher. Perry grew up in poverty and did not complete high school, although he did later earn his General Education Development (GED) degree. Trying to find his way professionally, he held a series of unfulfilling jobs before discovering his true passion. As a young adult he drifted from job to job for several years, and after using up all of his savings, he became homeless, on and off for a period of 6 years, living in his car, or as he as he told Oprah, living in a “pay-by-the-week hotel. (www.oprah.com) In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, the most basic needs that is vital to survival, such as the need for water, air, food, and sleep. Maslow believed that these needs are the most basic and instinctive needs in the hierarchy because all needs become secondary until these physiological needs are met. Tyler's life wasn't always so fortunate. Suffering years of abuse at the hands of his carpenter father. He once described his father as a man "whose answer to everything was to beat it out of you, "For years, he says he suffered brutal physical abuse at the hands of his father and severe sexual abuse at the hands of several adults. Inside or outside the home, Tyler says he never felt safe. At one point, Perry even attempted to kill himself, slashing his wrists in an action that he has called, a cry for attention. "I was pretty young and totally frustrated. At 16, he changed his first name to Tyler to separate himself from his father. Tyler says his mother, Maxine, was also beaten and threatened by his father, and she even tried to leave him when Tyler was very young. One day, Maxine packed up the children into a Cadillac and drove to California to escape. Tyler's father reported the car stolen, and his mother was arrested. They were driven back to Louisiana by Tyler's uncle, and Tyler says his father beat his mother the whole ride home. In addition to the brutal physical abuse, Tyler says he also suffered severe sexual abuse at the hand of four different adults. Tyler says he was 5 or 6 years old, the first time he was molested while building a birdhouse with an adult male neighbor. "Tyler says he later endured sexual molestation at the hands of a male nurse and a man he knew from church."[The man from church] used God and the Bible against me to justify a lot of the things that were going on. It was so horrible," Tyler says. "And that was my first sexual experience, with this man performing oral sex on me as a boy." The second level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is the needs for safety and security. Security needs are important for survival, but they are not as demanding as the physiological needs. Examples of security needs include physical safety, a safe place to live, and staying healthy are all concerns that might come into play at this stage. A desire for steady employment, health care, safe neighborhoods, and shelter from the environment. If this these needs are fulfilled people will go to the 3rd level of needs. Tyler Perry is living with his longtime girlfriend Gelila Bekele.
Gelila is also a humanitarian and social activist. The couples have a son together, Aman Tyler Perry. www.Thefamouspeople.com. Perry said he forgives his father but he will not have a relationship with his him, and will not put himself through the fear and emotions that surface whenever he's around. But he still sends him a check every month, and have him living in a beautiful mansion in Louisiana. He said still provide for him, “Because I forgave him.”(www.oprah.com) Tyler Perry is not only a media mogul – he is also a charitable giver who often donates to various charity organizations. He may be best known for the creation and delivery of the Medea movies or the television sitcom House of Payne. Despite what he is remembered for, his media efforts have grossed over $400 million dollars. With his successes, Tyler Perry has already started to give back to the community.(www.microgiving.com)
The 3rd level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, is the needs for belonging, love, and affection. Maslow described these needs as less basic than physiological and security needs. Relationships such as friendships, romantic attachments, and families help fulfill this need for companionship and acceptance, involvement in social, community, or religious groups.

Helping those with individual needs. A person centred approach, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is very important when looking at children’s personal need as it helps analyse their psychological needs for example their self-esteem and there self-actualisation
Some says that his movies are somewhat different, but in each one of his films there is relationship situation between a male and female. When it comes to Tyler Perry you fall into 1 of 2 categories: you love him or you hate him. He also released a movie called Single Mom’s Club. Some say they did not attempt to go see this movie of his because everything is the same with the way he makes movies. “I just wish this guy had a few more creative bones in his body in order to compose different story lines” (Yoba n.pg). His four very best films, Daddy's Little Girls, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, Why Did I Get Married?, and The Family That Preys, all have typical Tyler Perry problems but manage to overcome them to offer moments of real value. The moral Tyler Perry wants to sell to his mostly female audience is very specific and straight forward. He lets his fans know that every marriage is different and have their own sort of
Perry’s early family life was difficult, and he was just 7 years old when his parents split up. Perry has always described his father’s departure as having the single biggest impact on him throughout his life. (Jones, 2006)
Maslow suggested that there are five levels of need. Level one needs are basic needs such as food and shelter which need to be meet before moving to the next level of need. Each level should be meet in turn up to level five, self-actualisation. An example of this in current practice is providing children with snack and water during the school day fulfilling basic needs and providing opportunities to develop friendships and feel safe at school to express their feelings can fulfil needs in levels 2 and 3 of Maslowâ€TMs hierarchy of
Matthew C. Perry was born in Newport, Rhode Island on April 10, 1794, the younger brother of another United States naval officer, Oliver Hazard Perry. Perry was an American naval officer who had seen action in the War of 1812 aboard the USS President, flagship of Stephen Decatur. He later helped found the country of Liberia in West Africa as a haven for free black Americans, and was given the task of "opening" Japan to diplomatic and commercial relations with the United States with the hope that U.S. sailors could receive better treatment in the process.
Furthermore, the American television house wife would quickly evolve into a whole new individual. The working woman would arrive on the scene in the late sixties. Mary Tyler Moore, an award winning actress from “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” would introduce a new show called “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” The new show would air on prime time television. Moore would go from playing the typical housewife on “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” to playing an unmarried working woman on” The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” This shows biggest liberation of women was that it dealt with the independence of woman and the struggles they would have to endure. Therefore, the majority of people would view this character as a down to earth and realistic person, because it would

According to Maslow men and women have individual needs such as Biological, safety, attachment, esteem, cognitive, aesthetic, self-actualization and Transcendence . Each need must be met before moving to the next level of need. Maslow's hierarchical theory of needs is often represented as a pyramid (see attached)
Steven Spielberg was born on December 18, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio. His parents were Arnold Spielberg and Leah Spielberg, who soon influenced the movies he would make. Surprisingly enough, Steven Spielberg was poor at school. Though, when it came to filmmaking, he was extremely talented. He would often become interested in new filmmaking techniques, just like his father, who would study techniques to get ahead in the field. Steven was Jewish growing up, which would soon help him make one of his best works. Many things, as he grew up, influenced his movies greatly, such as his fears or monsters he knew. His imagination was magnificent; he had many thought-provoking ideas. Steven’s beginning films were home movies that he would film with his $20, 8 mm camera. He would experiment with the camera, such as different lighting, different angles, and other techniques. It was like he was born to film! He soon had an obsession for making movies, especially movies that had the World War 2 theme to it. He even spent most of his free time and his allowance to satisfy his obsession for movies.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs are the things stages in life by which you develop from a primitive creature, to a more human being. These stages include physiological needs, safety and security, belongingness, esteem, and finally self-actualization. I subconsciously work toward each one of these levels every single day. Although it seems basic, the hierarchy is much more in depth than one might think.
Tyler Perry comes from a not so good background. He had issues in his home and had a hard childhood. He suffered many years of abuse. He was one of four kids and his father was a carpenter. Perry thinks of his dad as a man to beat everything out of you for no reason and to feel as if beating was the only answer. During one point in his teenage life, he tried to commit suicide, but he changed his first name to Tyler since he had the same first name as his father at first. Perry completed elementary and middle school, but he soon dropped out high school. He received his general equivalency diploma later. In trying to find his way in professions he took part in many irrelevant jobs before his found the true passion he had. While watching an episode of Oprah Winfrey's talk show, Perry was influenced by a response on the program dealing with how writing about hard times could evolve to personal out comings. He began a series of letters to his own self,...
Historically, theories about human nature and personality development did not reflect women’s visions, needs and opinions (Wellesley Centers for Women, 2011: Westkott 1989). However, Karen Horney, a psychoanalyst in the first half of the twentieth century began to question the concept of human nature being only associated with man and not woman (Eckardt, 2005). Through this questioning, Horney began to reinterpret Freud’s psychoanalytic theory on feminine psychology development, accumulating in fourteen papers written between 1922 and 1937 on feminine psychology (Smith, 2007). Published posthumously as Feminine Psychology (1967) these papers had a significant impact on feminist theory and have been cited as the ‘political and theoretical origins’
Abraham Maslow wrote the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. This theory was based on fulfilling five basic needs: physiological, safety, social, esteem and self-actualization. Maslow believed that these needs could create internal pressures that could influence the behavior of a person. (Robbins, p.204)
Abraham Maslow did studies of the basic needs of human beings. He put these needs into a hierarchical order. This means that until the need before it has been satisfied, the following need can not be met (Encyclopedia, 2000). For example, if someone is hungry they are not thinking too much about socializing. In the order from lowest to highest the needs are psychological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization. The first three are classified as lower order needs and the last two are higher order (Hierarchy, 2000). Without meeting these needs workers are not going to be as productive as they could otherwise. The first three are considered to be essential to all humans at all times. The last two have been argued but are mostly considered to be very important as well.
