The characters in Two Way Street were two past lovers who were once totally in love. Their names are Jordan and Courtney. This book gives to sides to their relationship, the chapters go back and forth to their point of views. Generally people tend to only listen to one side of the relationship when it is much more than that, this book goes into great detail to show you that there are always two sides and you should always have open ears. Here is how it goes, Jordan and Courtney arranged and prepared their future together, which probably was not the most optimal idea. They broke up because of a girl who he supposedly met online, well that's what Jordan told Courtney. However, it is much more complicated than that. There is a tremendous secret behind it. When Jordan and Courtney were dating they planned to go to the same college. Therefore they both applied to the exact same college and got in. With that said, they also did not get a plane ticket because Jordan and Courtney assumed it would be fun and a way to get closer if they drove on a road trip together. The main setting of Two way street is on the road. …show more content…
The first day of the road trip Jordan comes to pick up Courtney late.
Courtney then gets furious at Jordan and does not want to talk to him. It is much more complicated than just being wrathful due to Jordan picking her up late, there are so many reasons she is furious. There are two sides of this breakup, hence the title “Two way street”. Let me remind you, as I am giving you a glimpse of this story Courtney and Jordan still love each other but do not want admit their feelings that remain for one another, they are not on talking terms. Courtney and Jordan are constantly fighting over ignorant things. Courtney is jealous of his “internet girlfriend”, therefore she is trying to act like she is not bothered by it, however submerged down her aching heart it is burning of major jealousy. The secret is yet to be to be revealed, not by me of
course. On Jordan and Courtney's way to college, Courtney repeatedly likes to remind Jordan that she is talking to someone else in an intimate way, but truly has no feelings for this guy, his name is Bj. The only stop they were suppose to make along with bathroom breaks was to see Jordan’s brother and Courtney’s “boyfriend”. Even though Jordan wants to see his brother so badly at the college he has been away at, he does not want to leave Courtney alone with Bj. When they got there things were not so great between Jordan and his brother neither with Courtney and Bj. Therefore, Jordan just left courtney at Bj’s dorm and left to go check in at a motel for the night. Jordan was tired of keeping the secret from Courtney, he was done lying to her. He then called Courtney’s dad and said that he is not going to lie to Courtney anymore he's going to come clean about the secret. As soon as he hung up he went to go look for Courtney. He was finally gonna tell her the truth, the honest truth, the secret was about to be revealed. As soon as Courtney's dad heard that he was going to come clean about it, he obliviously got intimidated and called Courtney. The secret was finally out. Courtney now knows the truth and is learning how to cope with it. I strongly suggest you read the book as well, so you get to find out the secret for yourself and learn a lesson from this book. This book is for a mature level pre-teen or to anyone who can simply connect to it. I won't give away the part if she forgave Jordan or her father. One quote that stood out to me in this book was "it makes me feel better, but only for a second because, let's face it-no matter how much you tell yourself you're over someone your heart knows the truth". I connected to this quote because I constantly tell myself I am over something someone said to me or something someone did to me, or what is going on with my life that I need to stop and give myself a reality check. This quote does not necessarily need to only apply to relationships. It could apply to something that means so much to you and its gone or irreplaceable. That is where this quote could come into play.
Relationships have the ability to change a persons life. The relationships people have with others are the reason they became who they are as a person. In the novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, by Jamie Ford, the main character Henry faces many relationships which greatly impact his life. Henry's relationships with his father, his son, and Keiko has changed his life and made him become the person he is today.
Wes Moore, the author, ended up finishing military school and went onto college and the other Wes Moore would spend the rest of his life in jail. It shows how our decisions we make in life can define the rest of our lives. When the author Wes Moore would be skipping school, his mother knew the best decision was to send him off to military school and with that decision made it changed Wes’s life forever. Going to military school got him back on track and that led him to go to college and become really successful. As for the other Wes Moore with the decision he made to even start getting into drug dealing, that’s where it all went wrong.
...he class barriers that exist in society and the differences between these different groups. She comes to see the differences and the similarities between her life and that of the two boys.
"Love in L.A.," written by Dagoberto Gilb, is a story full of irony and multiple themes. The story is set in Hollywood during the summer time. Written in third person objective, "Love in L.A." guides the reader along through the story as opposed to an omniscient point of view.

As Filthy sits at the lunch table waiting for JB, he soon sees him, “strut into the cafeteria with Miss Sweet
Development: The narrative follows part of these students' lives during a year at college, they are in each other's lives whether they know it or not. There are parallels drawn between them as the narrative progresses: Peace V War, Aggression V Pacifism, sides are taken and the racial lines are clear- stick to your own group like glue. How they fit in with the rest of the college population, Malik does this better than Remy and Kristen- he heads straight for the black population.
On one side, there is Kathy Nicolo and Sheriff Lester Burdon who want the house from which Kathy was evicted. It previously belonged to Kathy’s father and she is reluctant to relinquish possession of it. Then there is the Behranis, a Persian family who was forced to flee to America in fear of their lives. They want the house because it symbolizes their rise from poverty (they had to leave everything behind and were quite poor when they arrived in the United States) back to affluence which, to this family, will help to restore their family’s dignity, lost when thrust into poverty. The story centers on gaining possession of the house. Unknowingly, all of these characters are doomed to tragedy by their inability to understand each other, hurtling down an explosive collision course.
Love is a beautiful thing, it always works out in the end. Everyone is always happy and no problems occur. West Side Story, a musical by Leonard Bornstein based on Shakespeare 's Romeo and Juliet parallels a love story of two star-crossed lovers. The play takes place in 1961 in New York City. This musical displays importance because it shows that nothing can overcome the power of love. This play is based on a love story between the main characters of Maria and Tony. Theses two are from different gangs that trouble to get along. They are from different gangs that do not get along at all. Roughly two hundred blocks make up Manhattan’s West Side, which stretches from Central Park West to the Hudson River. For the most part, the street youths
“For never was a story of more woe/Than this of Juliet and her Romeo” (V.III.309-310). Love and hate has a major part in the play Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, as the Montagues and Capulets hate for each other makes Romeo and Juliet’s love only stronger while causing the families to lose loved ones over nothing. For example, Romeo falling out of love then back into love with Juliet changes the two families’ relationship into one unlike any other. While Tybalt seeing Romeo at the Capulet Ball creates a violent uproar leading to two deaths; as he has to hold in his anger because Capulet does not want his Ball ruined. Just as important is how when the two families’ hate starts getting stronger, Romeo and Juliet only become more and more inseparable and are willing to do whatever is necessary so they can be together forever.
Colin’s best, and only friend, was Hassan Harbish. Hassan is funny, lazy, and obsessed with Judge Judy. She lies, cheats, and somehow gets away with it all, perpetuating her sense of entitlement. The incident that helps Nick to see who she really is, as stated in the book, is as follows: “[Jordan] left a borrowed car out in the rain with the top down, and… lied about it-and suddenly I remembered… At her first big golf tournament… she had moved the ball from a bad lie in the semi-final round” (58). While these two coinciding events introduce her questionable morals, Nick fails to see this until later in the book. Nick overlooks this trait of hers, and goes to show how even when presented with direct evidence of wrongdoing, she can get away with whatever she wants. She believes that she deserves to get her way no matter what the expense may be, even if it may put others in danger. A dangerous situation the Jordan gets herself into because of this sense of entitlement through deception is when she is taking a drive with Nick. In the novel, Jordan states, “‘[other drivers] will keep out of my way… It takes two to make an accident’... ‘I hate careless people. That’s why I like you”
Grace Pulpit once said “A friend is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out.” True friends will always be present and have your back regardless of the circumstances. Amir and Hassan share a unique relationship; they are friends, brothers, and enemies. Growing up together, Hassan always had Amir’s back, but Amir did not always have Hassan’s. This developed a friendship that was one-sided, but the boys still had a close bond regardless. Amir says “…we were kids who had learned to crawl together, and no history, ethnicity, society, or religion was going to change that…(25).” The relationship between the two boys is one that is difficult to fully comprehend. The bond they share is one that not many people get to experience. The boys are separated from each other after the Russian invasion, but it is Amir’s decisions later in life that show what Hassan truly meant to him. They share a relationship that had varying definitions, but in the end they both loved each other. Amir and Hassan share this diverse friendship because of Amir’s selfishness, jealousy, and cowardly actions.
Did you know that the best kinds of lovers are the people that start out as your friend? This is shown in the lyrics of the R&B song "Lovers and Friends", sung by Usher, Ludacris, and Lil Jon. This song is about two people who have been friends for a long time and now are ready to take the step into being lovers. In "Lovers and Friends" the writers use sensory description and figurative language to show the theme that friends make the best lovers.
Hate, a passionate dislike for something or someone, has taken part of every war in the world, whether it is a political or civil one. Macklemore, the rapper of the song “Same Love”, uses powerful lyrics and imagery in many of his songs. It is in “Same Love” that he raps about a social issue that the world has been dealing with since, some could argue, the beginning of time. In the song “Same Love” he uses his rap to speak to everyone who can make a change in this world. “Same Love” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis bring awareness to the unjust issue of homophobia by giving people the information they need to obtain a voice and stand up for humans who have had their rights stolen.
In Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe’s Faust (Part One) as well as in Gotthold Ephraim Lessing’s Nathan the Wise, love plays a vital role. Love is the reason that an individual strays from the path to enlightenment and begins to act in strange, unpredictable ways. It decreases an individual’s ability to reason and takes away any incentive he might have to seek enlightenment. Since love is based on faith, it goes against the ideals of enlightenment which stress individual thinking. Love brings about a sense of fulfillment, which also works against the ideals of enlightenment which advocate a constant struggle within the individual to find truth or reach a higher plain of thought. In the Age of Enlightenment, love is a temptation man must overcome to reach enlightenment.
