In countries outside of the United States, Americanization is the influence American culture and business has on other countries, such as their media, cuisine, business practices, popular culture, technology, or political techniques. The term has been used since at least 1907. While not necessarily a hostile term, it is most often used by critics in the target country who are against the influences.
Americanization has become more prevalent since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989-91, and especially since the advent of widespread high speed Internet use starting in the mid-2000s. In Europe, in recent years there is growing concern about Americanization through Google, Facebook, Twitter, Apple Inc. and Uber, among many other Internet-oriented corporations based in the U.S. European governments have increasingly expressed concern regarding privacy issues, as well as antitrust and taxation issues regarding the new American

However, during the occupation of former Axis enemies countries after World War II, the government played a major role in restructuring the media in those countries to eliminate totalitarianism and promote democracy, against communism. For example, In Germany, the American occupation headquarters, Office of Military Government, United States in 1945 began its own newspaper based in Munich. Die Neue Zeitung was edited by German and Jewish émigrés who fled to the United States before the war. Its mission was to destroy Nazi cultural remnants, and encourage democracy by exposing Germans to how American culture operated. There was great detail on sports, politics, business, Hollywood, and fashions, as well as international affairs. Americanization would continue to spread out over the Iron Curtain even before the fall of the Soviet Union and periodically

I believe having American culture means that you embrace freedom, celebrate the national holidays, vote, and many other things. Since I do live in the United States of America I believe that American Culture tends to valued more than all the other subcultures within the nation. This can be seen if you look into the media. It’s not uncommon that media outlets will portray certain sub cultures as not wanting to assimilate or that they are somehow causing trouble somehow. You can also see that people who come from cultures that aren’t American tend to have harder times finding jobs. I would have to say that my culture gives me many rights and

Ideas from the Enlightenment in Britain and the lasting effects of Anglicization in the American colonies ultimately caused American culture to be founded on British beliefs, yet westward expansion and the Great Awakening provided additional American ideals as well, which made American culture indistinct from Britain.
America has always been looked at as “The New World” where people from all over come to fulfil their dreams. Their dreams may not have been exceptional, but only to have enough to survive, have a house where their children could be raised and feel free and protected. Now, according to Webster’s online dictionary Americanism is defined as a custom, trait, belief, etc., peculiar to the United States of America or its citizens, but to me it means so much more.
• On coming to power, the Nazi regime closed down all socialist and communist newspapers. All newspaper...

The United States was only a country for about 15 years before the basic way of life for people in the country changed drastically. We developed politically and economically, expanded westward and divided along sectional borders. However, these are not the only characteristics that define this time. 1790-1860 was a period of rapid industrialization, market revolution and changing social order. This was largely due to advanced methods of transportation, mechanization and the changes in women’s roles.
During the early 1900’s and late 1800’s precipitated the first true form of American media. The daily newspapers have been a part of the United States for some time, but during 1880’s and 1890’s reports such as Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst began to transform the newspaper in order for it to become the first major stepping stone in mass media. These publishers, especially Hearst, took advantage of the American involvement in foreign affairs. Hearst convinced his audience that sinking of a U.S ship during the Spanish-American War obliged a military response. Although Hearst was not the initial cause of the war, there was proof that he had the power to distort information, images and options. By World War 1, the media involvement increase by a tremendous amount.
The definition of an American, is someone who is a citizen of the United States. Many African Americans, and immigrants struggled to become actual Americans in their lifetimes, because others didn 't see them as actual people; and based it on the color of someone. In today 's world people who live in America consider themselves as Americans, but to me there is certain qualities that make a person an American. To me being a true American is not based off of what Country they were born in, or what race their parents are, or even if they were immigrated to the United States. People from all over the world would say that maybe people could base this off of someone 's family heritage, or where they were before they came to America. If you were asked what makes an American an American what would you base it off of? To me there are four specific characteristics that make a person a true American; those three things would be, freedom, individuality, belief in the country, and happiness.
Culture sometimes divides us but sometimes it brings us together. With this said we can all agree or connect with one another based on that fact that we are all human. And with being human comes how we view things differently or have a different sets of morals/values. This is because every person's perspective on what is morally good or what they are taught to value is influenced by their cultural identity and everyday lives. Not to mention the fact we all have diverse cultures and lead different lives.
According to the Cambridge dictionary, the fact of the culture of a large and powerful country, organization, etc. having a great influence on another less powerful country, etc is known as cultural imperialism. There are many ways in which a stronger country can have power over a weaker one like through military force. However, in the 21st century, the expansion of one’s culture, beliefs and ideologies is the most effective and easily applicable one which the U.S has been following. Spreading one’s own influence over others surely does take time. The U.S. has had a very powerful influence on many countries of North America, Europe and Asia, including Nepal since
America is having such an influence on other countries to which countries are adopting our culture and becoming more and more American. Globalization is looked upon to having a tragic side. It can be said to have a negative effect on rich countries by the act of corporations taking jobs to other countries. Other than this principle, globalization is said to have a negative effect due to America pushing its label all over the country. Many different groups and religions such as Islam and China are not happy with this idea of Americanization. These groups are trying to push their brand or even simply keep their traditions and the threat of Americanization is fueling a fire. Samuel Huntington says that “The most dangerous clashes of the future are likely to arise from the interaction of Western arrogance, Islamic intolerance, and sinic assertiveness.”. (258) As America interacts with other cultures, this is sought to create clashes of religion, and economies across the world. People look at this and say that we as a nation are making the world a uniformed place because everyone is obtaining a part of our culture. On the other side people like Pells say “Americas cultural exports are not as important, or as alluring, as they once were.”. (235) The thought behind this is that globalization has enhanced all the different cultures around the world
Americans describe America by our love of liberty, our efforts to reach out with the hands of democracy, and our extensive freedoms of religion, speech, and just about everything else. This is the view that our country wants to promote and the view that our country want all other countries to aspire to be. Our television shows are better, our food is better, our music is better, our lives are better, our pop culture is better, our country is better. Unfortunately, when the pushing of our popular media and culture comes to the shoving of American ideas down the throats of foreign countries that is when American pop culture starts being seen in a more negative light. Most of the world scoffs at the words, “American Culture” simply because the
