Abortion is a controversial topic and has been for over 50 years, but there are many things most Americans don’t know about the topic and the debate. The debate is split into two sides; one sides argument called the Prolife side, says that abortion is murder, another being that babies are humans with a right to life, and finally that if a male and female do have relations, and were to become pregnant, they need to accept their responsibly and can’t use abortions as a form of contraception. While the other side of argument is called Prochoice and say that by having abortions, it gives women a sense of power over their bodies, another argument is what about the victims of rape who become pregnant, and what happens if the parents and or parent cannot provide for the baby both financially and …show more content…

These are all valid arguments, with all sorts of different angles about the topic of abortion. I chose this controversial topic for many reasons, one being that I am a female and this is a major topic that plays a role in the women’s rights debates. I also never understood the whole issue of abortion, and the factors that come up for debate until I started research on the topic until this essay came about. There were many things that I needed to be educated on by both sides. One thing that comes to mind is I didn’t know abortion had any limitations on it, and I felt like it needed to be explained. An Abortion is the medical procedure to terminate a pregnancy, normally done in the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion is also currently legal in all states, but same state can have stricter rules than others. Recently the government made it illegal to have a abortion passed the 24 week mark. Which I think is more than okay because 24 weeks is about five and a half months pregnant, so the fetus is about the size of a ear of corn and is about a foot long. I
