Have you ever wondered what drove Romeo and Juliet to take their own lives after only knowing each other for a few short days? In the play, Romeo and Juliet, written by Shakespeare, two family enemies fall in love and are driven to kill themselves, because neither of them wanted to live without the other. Due to the love they felt towards each other, Romeo and Juliet were driven to commit suicide after thinking that the other as dead. After knowing each other for only a few days, Romeo and Juliet experienced love at first sight, and expressed passionate love towards each other.

Like Romeo, she applies to the category eros. Juliet displays physical attraction towards Romeo when she firsts meets him, and she falls completely in love with him without even knowing him. These traits are described by Lee as an eros. Juliet falls so in love with Romeo upon their first meeting, that she wants him to marry her the next day. Juliet also applies to the group of agape. After Romeo was banished, and Juliet was told she had to marry Paris, she and the Friar produced a plan to allow for Romeo and Juliet to be together, yet the plan was very dangerous. It involved Juliet risking her life by drinking a potion that would temporarily kill her. She proceeded with the plan, and risked her life to be with Romeo. As written by Shakespeare,” Take thou this vail, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off; A cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse Shall keep his native progress, but surcease:...”(Shakespeare Act v sc. i).
