English Oral Hello, I'm Lucinda. How amazing would it be if you found out you had a long lost twin sister! Well, that's what happened to Sam and Anais. The stars of Twinsters. It follows the story of two sisters and their unlikely chance of meeting each other. It documents their journey of traveling, meeting new people and doing 25 years' worth of getting to know each other. I believe that twinsters would be a great documentary to study in junior English because of the way the director, Sam Futerman utilises techniques, such as interviews, camera shots and angles graphics, music choices and animation. These are all effectively used to create meaning. It invites the viewers into the twin's world. Despite how different these girls are portrayed, …show more content…
they still have an unbreakable sister bond, making this documentary more lovable and interesting. In the beginning of Twinsters, it shows Sam's parents being interviewed.
This technique is used to give an insight into her life It invites the audience to meet Sam's family and suggests her bubbly and positive personality through the interview. Camera angles and shots are an important part of documentaries. They are used to show emotion and portray a subject or location characteristics in a certain way. In twinsters, for example, this shot of the Thames. It's a long shot of London city. It shows the stereotype of gloomy England. This shot, as you can see includes both sided of the Thames, the tall buildings loom over the river. By using this shot, it invites the audience to see the different worlds that Sam and Anais have come from. EXPAND. This next camera angle is a close up straight angle. It is used for the audience to see Sam in this raw moment of emotion. The fear and anxiety documented in this scene are important as it invites the audience to feel empathy for Sam and share her nervous energy. This Part of the documentary builds up to Anais and Sam meeting in real life for the first time. The tension waiting for their meeting and anticipation can be seen on her face. Interviews and camera shots are important, but they aren't the only technique used to give insight into the twinsters life. Techniques added in post-production can often be the most powerful, that give more mood to the
documentary. Title screens like this one, are used to introduce key characters. They take up a screen and use a simplistic design which is similar to the documentaries mood. By using title screens it invites viewers to know the names of friends and family, bringing them closer to the twins. An important factor which can change the mood of a documentary completely is a soundtrack. In the twinsters documentary, a consistent array of light-hearted, quirky songs. These invited the audience to feel uplifted and positive. A song that stood out to me was Kishi Bashi's, Philosophize it, Chemicalize it. (Play 10-second clip) This song is used to build up excitement when sam, one of the twins, is leaving Los Angles to London, in order to visit Anais. The journey of packing, leaving and catching the plane is captured by this song of anticipation. It's upbeat rhythm and catchy melody invites the viewers to get excited and prepare for the Twinsters meet up. In this documentary, it has two notable animated scenes, the first being a cartoon. This is used to describe a dream that Sam had. It's used to keep the audience entertained. It uses a unique, simplistic design, reflecting the director's style. Sam's observant and artistic personality can be seen in this animation, which encourages the audience to pay more attention to her story and feel more emotion for Sam. The second animation added in post-production is these graphs. They serve the purpose of informing the viewer of how similar the twins are, despite never knowing of one's existence a few months prior. By using this animation it makes the audience shocked, to show how similar their results are. By considering these techniques, and the way they have been incorporated into the documentary you can see how it can be used to study in junior English. As you can see, the Twinsters documentary has used an array of techniques like interviews, camera angles, shots and choices of music and animation. Because of these, The director has correctly shown the audience into Sam and Anais's world and follows around their life using techniques to feel emotion for them. That's why I believe that the well-made documentary of twinsters should be studied for junior English, thank you.
The results help to shape the meaning of this film. Multiple eye-level shots between characters’ conversations, signifies equality between both individuals. The scene when the Richmond High principal and Coach Carter are arguing is a classic example of this. High angle camera shots are also used throughout the film to show characters in a state of vulnerability. When Damien is speaking to Coach Carter about playing for Richmond and not St Francis, a high camera angle portrays Damien in a position of authority, looking down upon vulnerable Coach Carter.
Like in Edwards Scissorhands when Edward is sitting at the dinner table looking at the family, this was a point-of-view shot. To me, I think Edward was examining his new family that he would be living with and wondering what they would be like. Or when they did a close up on Edward when he was holding the hands, he looked frightful and weak, vulnerable but still powerful. In my point of view, Edward was lost and he didn’t know right from wrong because of being isolated for so many years. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Tim Burton utilizes a high angle shot to show the 5 golden ticket winners standing with their parents outside to show how small and powerless the people are compared to Wonka’s factory. These camera angles and shots brought mood and tone of these scenes because it shows where the scene is and what the background is or how scenes are close-ups so you can see the details in

The choice of camera angles is very important in communicating ideas about the central character. The initial shot to open the film is of Shane pausing on the hill. We can see the beautiful environment which was the setting for the film (Jackson Hole, Wyoming), with the Grand Tetons as its backdrop. This is an important mo... ... middle of paper ... ...
Each camera angle has an explanation to how it wanted to make the viewer feel in each shot. The camera angles create a dramatic illusion that makes the audience feel they are in the movie. The beach scene is the most intense scene where different potent camera angles are shown. In
ATTENTION GETTER: In a recent report, The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) uncovered an alarming statistic: more than a half million students in the 8th and 10th grade are currently using some form of anabolic steroids. ( www.steroidabuse.org)
A few of the camera angles used are long shot, medium shot, high angle and bird’s eye view. A long shot to show the link between characters/subjects and their environment and draws the audience’s attention to a particular aspect of the surroundings. It can also indicate the atmosphere of the film. A medium shot shows a characters facial expression and body language, and for us to get to know the characters and how they relate to each other more closely. A high angle shot makes the person or object look weaker, inferior, under pressure or vulnerable. Lastly, a bird’s eye view gives the audience an overview of where the character or subject is positioned and enables the audience to see what is going on away from the characters immediate
Well have you ever wonder what Multiple Sclerosis? Today i'm going to explain to what MS(Multiple Sclerosis) is so I hope that you enjoy.
It was a bone-chilling winter morning in Bavaria. My alarm clock rang, and I slapped it to snooze. Oh no, I was not getting up that day. I had just finished the worst school week of my life. If we zoom back to that time two years ago, I was a 14 year old foreign exchange student in southern Germany. Bullying from the kids in school had made my homesickness unbearable. But that’s not all. I eventually became so anxious throughout my exchange that I chewed all the skin around my nails, gained 15 pounds, and finally, had to book my flight back home January 1st.

...successful collaboration of sound, colour, camera positioning and lighting are instrumental in portraying these themes. The techniques used heighten the suspense, drama and mood of each scene and enhance the film in order to convey to the spectator the intended messages.
Many of the first film elements that can be found in this movie work as an introduction to the two main characters of the story. These elements are meant to force the spectator- even one who had never heard speak of, or seen the two Hollywood stars shown on screen- to focus their attention on them.
Camera angles are used as a film technique to keep the scene interesting and also shows off the directors’ skill and abilities. There is a wide variety in which different camera angles were used during this scene, for an example of a camera angle is a low angle shot, this exact technique was used quite a lot at different points in this scene. The effect of this camera angle shows dominance; dominance to the personal where the camera is facing up on them from the ground. The opposite of this would be a high angle shot and this normally shows a victim’s weakness as it makes then look small and helpless. An example of when a low shot was used in this scene would be when V comes out of the flames at Larkhill in Finch’s flashback. This shows V’s power and how he survived through the fire and symbolises his dominance. An example of using a high angle shot would be of Chancellor Sutler talking to Creedy. Chancellor Sutler is on a big screen facing down on Creedy yelling orders at him, this shows who the boss in this scene is as Creedy is getting verbally abused by Chancellor Sutler and this makes him look weak. Another camera angle that is used would be a tilt this is used when V first flicks the dominos then the camera tilts up to show the dominos as they spread the effect this has is showing how easy they spread in relation to the chaos. It all starts with one would be the

The close-up shot is one of the more obvious filming methods used in this clip, however it is extremely influential on the audience’s perception and understanding of the scene. A close-up shot is very close to objects and events while emphasizing
