Turner believed black men should have rights because, he thought that it was unfair to be judged upon something you were born with and have no ability to change. He believed that blacks were just as equal to whites, as they were equal to blacks. In his speech “I Shall Not Beg for My Rights”, he explains why blacks should not be judged by their race. He uses many negative words such as, arraigned, charged, offense, crimes, misendeavours, and “the bad” to create a pessimistic look. In paragraph b, he says “Never has man been arraigned before a body clothed with legislative, judicial, or executive functions, charged with the offense if being of a darker hue than his fellow men charged with an offense committed by the God of heaven himself.” In
