Both of them started working together in the early 90s, Biggie and Tupac started to show their love for music and they both grew up in the same type of rough neighborhoods in New York and L.A. When Biggie came into rap he ended up taking over the East Coast rap and took it to the next level and made it more popular than it was before and with Biggie showing off his freestyle abilities he became a legend overnight. Tupac might have had the better lyric ability, but Biggie had the better technical skills for all of his tracks that he dropped. Tupac isn't just an icon in the rapping industry, he is also an icon for the people that like his culture of music.. Tupac was at a Mike Tyson fight against Bruce Seldon at the MGM Grand Hotel, in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 7, 1996. After it was over, Tupac was in the car with Suge Knight when a white, four-door, Cadillac pulled up and two gunmen got out. They shot thirteen times; three of the shots hit Tupac and one hit Knight. Tupac died of internal bleeding six days later in critical care at the University Medical Centre. Six months later on March 9, 1997, Biggie was sitting in a Chevy Suburban outside after the Soul Train Music Awards when he was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, California. He died about an hour
He also suggests that Marion "Suge Knight" Hugh, former head of Death Row Records, was responsible for planning both shootings for his own reasons. During the interview with Suge Knight, Broomfield was not able to get any information about Tupac's murder from him. Instead, Suge Knight is seen wanting to spread a positive message to the younger generation about learning from the mistakes of the
Tupac Amaru Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 in New York City to Afeni Shakur, a Black Panther member since 1968. She gave birth to him 2 months after she was released from Women’s House of Detentions in Grenwich Village. She was charged with conspiracy to bomb several New York public locations and just had her bail revoked. In court she represented herself and won against the state of New York in a surprising turn out. In Incan dialect, his name Tupac Amaru means “shining serpent” and Shakur is Arabic for “thankful to God.” For most of his childhood his crack addicted mother shuffled Tupac between the ghettos of Harlem and the Bronx. Young Tupac began his performance career with the 127th Street Ensemble and then enrolled Baltimore School for the Arts where he was educated in ballet and acting. Tupac was forced to drop out of the school because he had to move to California with his mother, where his criminal career began. He left his house at the age of 17 because of the continuous fights with his mother he then began selling/doing drugs, and was homeless for about 2 years. His life was spiraling down wards at a rapid rate. Till one day he got his big break. Tupac always dreamt about being famous someday, now his dream was becoming a reality. He struck a recording deal with Interscope records. He was on his way to super stardom, but as we all know with fame comes problems. He was involved in the shooting of two off duty police officers, although the chargers were later dropped. He was also convicted of rape, and sentenced to 5 years in Clinton Correctional Facilities.
He even wrote a song called Dear Mama to his mom and thanked her for how she tried her best at raising him. His public career started when he joined the seminal Bay Area rap ensemble (u.a., "original area," n.p.). He started as a tour dancer but then started rapping live (u.a., "original area," n.p.). From there he released a couple albums and then was offered to be in some movies. He became friends with a couple of popular rap artists like Snoop Doggy
Tupac Shakur is one of the most influential artists of all time, regardless of genre. Tupac only lived for 25 years, as he was killed in a drive by shooting outside of a Las Vegas casino, which was allegedly the result of a feud between two rap groups. Tupac’s music has always cast a long shadow across the hip hop music industry, because his lyrics discussed deep and meaningful issues that his community was dealing with during his life time. The songs that I have selected to break down, in the ways they relate to and portray women during this time, are “Brenda’s got a baby,” “Dear Mama,” and “keep ya head up.” The lyrics, and stories that are discussed in these songs are extremely relatable and are example of why Tupac was able to rise to prominence,
Biggie’s father left him and his mother behind when Christopher was only two years old. Like Tupac’s childhood, Biggie’s mother, Voletta, struggled with funds and worked two jobs to pay for Christopher’s private education. To help his mother with finances, Biggie transferred to a public school. Parallel to Tupac, Biggie dropped out of high school and began distributing drugs in his neighborhood. Like Tupac, Biggie Smalls excelled in English while he was in school and that would contribute to his rapping legacy later on. While Tupac was starting his acting career, Biggie began writing music. His music would reach out to his fans and he rapped words of justness. Biggie signed with Bad Boy Records, a record label that claimed to represent the East Coast and rival to Deathrow Records. Biggie and Tupac’s friendship before the dispute included drinking, eating, and smoking together. The two record labels, Bad Boy and Deathrow Records, had bad blood before Tupac and Biggie arrived. Provoking the shooting before Tupac’s death, Biggie released a song named “Who Shot Ya”. The two rappers began composing “diss” tracks towards one another, heightening the quarrel. Six months after Tupac Shakur’s death, Biggie was shot and killed by an unknown killer. His place of death was in Los Angeles, California. Biggie’s mother and his fans believe that Tupac’s record label, Deathrow
Throughout America’s history there have been countless influential leaders that have proudly been American. Those have held positions of politicians, soldiers, and . Kanye Omari West has opened the eyes of today's generation and still continues to shape American history. His musical influence has transformed the lives of countless people. Inspiring many to stand up and fight for what they believe in is something Kanye West continues to do even today.. Tupac Shakur Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in the East Harlem section of Manhattan in New York City. His birth name was Lesane Parish Crooks, June 16, 1971. Both of his parents were members of the Black Panther Party. Tupac Shakur was a vocal participant during the East Coast and West Coast hip hop rivalry. He went to high schools in California and Maryland.
Shakur’s post celebrity run-ins with the law were almost as frequents as when he was growing up. In 1992 he was arrested when a stray bullet killed a six-year old child during a scuffle between Shakur and two others. The charges were later dropped. In 1993 Tupac was arrested for allegedly shooting two off duty Butts County Atlanta police officers who were harassing a black motorist, but the charges were again dropped. Ironically one of the officers was shot in the...
Immediately after Tupac Shakur’s murder the night of September 7, 1996, possible suspects were targeted and investigated. Among the earliest accused was Suge Knight, the creator of Death Row Records (Scott 183). Shakur’s contract with Death Row was a profit vacuum for Knight because of Shakur’s immense talent and popularity. And, allegedly, a four-million dollar insurance policy was enacted on Tupac after signing with Death Row Records, giving Death Row the benefit rather than his family (Scott 183). This policy reinforced the idea that Tupac was the driving money force for Death Row; therefore, he was extremely valuable for the success of the company. As Knight once said, "Tupac IS Death Row." (Johnson and McQuillar 173). However, tension came when Tupac supposedly was ready to depart from Death Row Records once the contract expired, which would negatively affect the success of Death Row (Scott 184). The devastation of Shakur’s departure would cause a major change in Death Row's success, and potentially causing another company to be more successful than Knight’s. T...
Tupac Amaru Shakur was an African-American rapper, poet, and record producer during the 1990’s. In his adolescent years, he attended the Baltimore School for the Arts where he took acting and dance classes, like ballet. He was taught radical politics by his mother, which helped him develop ideas about topics he would later use in his many works. At an early age, Tupac had seen the injustices of the real world. His mother was a former Black Panther activist who turned to substance abuse during Tupac’s childhood. Aside from that, he and his mother also moved many times while they lived together in New York City. While Tupac was in Baltimore, he discovered rap; not long after, he and his mother moved to the West Coast where he joined the rap group
Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in the East Harlem section of Manhattan in New York City, New York. He was named after Túpac Amaru II, an Incan revolutionary who led an indigenous uprising against Spain and received capital punishment. His mother, Afeni Shakur, was an active member of the Black Panther Party in New York in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Shakur was born just one month after her acquittal on more than 100 charges of "conspiracy against the United States government and New York landmarks" in the New York Panther 21 court case. Although officially unconfirmed by the Shakur family, several sources list his birth name as either "Parish Lesane Crooks" or "Lesane Parish Crooks". Afeni feared her enemies would attack her son, and disguised their relation using a different last name, only to change it three months or a year later, following her marriage to Mutulu Shakur.
Throughout all of this Tupac had made rivals with many people. He was beginning to be hated by just about everyone. He had his talent by his side though and he began filming movies.

It is so hard to become a rapper. But it is harder to become a Great Rapper. I believe Tupac is a great rapper. Not only a great rapper, but the greatest rapper. Like Snoop Dogg had said, “Tupac was many different things at once. Hardheaded and intellectual, courageous and afraid, revolutionary and….oh yeah, don’t get it f***ed up, gangsta.” To be a great rapper, you must have impact, commercial success, be good at song writing, a lot of performances and live shows and lastly, hella good rapping. The first song I heard from tupac was “ambitions az a ridah and all eyes on me” and it was real original so I went and listened to ‘Brenda got a baby’ which made me think “dammmmm he good, he good as hell”
