Truth and lies are always in a constant battle; the battle of choosing the truth or giving in and telling a lie. This theme is prevalent in The Pigman by Paul Zindel. The book takes place in Staten Island, New York. It follows a set of events told by two narrators, John and Lorraine. The two narrators are typing the story on a borrowed typewriter in the library. John and Lorraine are writing about what happened to them when they met Mr. Pignati, and what followed. In their story John and Lorraine meet him by a telephone prank, and they go over to his house to pick up money for an illegitimate fund. When they go to his house the man gives them the money and he tries to keep them over for longer than they want. In the next turn of events they end up spending almost every day after school with the Pigman; which he was nicknamed for his pig collection. The kids do many various activities with the Pigman, including; going to the zoo to see bobo, an ugly baboon, Beekman’s Department store, and also just watching television at his house. The three become very good friends, but one day they were playing tag while roller skating and Mr. Pignati has a heart attack. While Mr. Pignati is in the hospital John wants to have a party at the Pigman’s house. The party is a disaster and the forty guests trash the house and they are very obnoxious. Mr. Pignati ends up returning home and finding the mess, he is devastated. John and Lorraine are the only ones that are not able to escape the police, so they are taken home. Lorraine’s mom is extremely perturbed with her, and John’s father says he needs to see a psychologist. Later on John and Loraine meet Mr. Pignati at the zoo, and when he finds out bobo is dead he collapses and dies too. Throughout The...

One of the themes in The Pigman is honesty and lying, in the story it shows that people lie to protect themselves and also to protect others, but honesty is the only way to create a true friendship with anyone. One of the examples of a character lying to protect himself is John, when he lies to Dennis and Norton to protect himself and his opportunity to make ten dollars. Another example is when John’s father lies to him about becoming individualistic and following his own dreams, only wanting John to believe his father wants the best for him. But honesty is needed in a friendship to create a trust between the people. John, Lorraine, and the Pigman became better friends after they quit hiding things from eachother. The theme of truth and lies is constant throughout the book, but it does show that there is need for honesty in a truly successful relationship.
There is a lot of symbolism in the Pigman writing by Paul Zindel. The three monks symbolism means Lorraine, John, and Mr. Pignati friendship. One example of the friendship of Lorraine, John and Mr.pignati is when he has a heart attack Lorraine and John skips school to go see him. The three monkeys symbolism you can find it in the Pigman. My conclusion is that the three monkey symbolism is in the Pigman.
To begin with, according to Lucius Annaeus Seneca, “One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood”. Even this quote explains that true friendship is when an individual stands for another individual. In the novel Of Mice and Men, author John Steinbeck examine the idea of friendship between two migrant ranch worker even when there was difficulties. Through the character of Slim and George, author Steinbeck illustrates friendship and reveals that friendships stand up for each other even when is difficult time.
When she says There was something about his voice that made me feel sorry for him, I began to wish I never bothered him that is the very beginning of a friendship or a strong bond between Lorraine, John, and Mr.Pignati. Throughout the story, the bond between and the trustworthiness Between Mr.Pignati to Lorraine and John gets strong because when Mr.Pignati has to go to the hospital and Lorraine and John go and give Mr.Pignati his keys to his house but he says that they could keep them. That shows how much he trusts them, he has been alone for a while and now he finally has someone to talk to and have fun with.He told Lorraine and John that his wife was on a vacation in California, but he hasn’t accepted his wife's death and Lorraine and John later find out that she is dead and that Mr.Pignati lied to them but they know why. When Mr.Pignati took them to the zoo, he introduced them to
Richard Gunderman asks the question, "Isn 't there something inherently wrong with lying, and “in his article” Is Lying Bad for Us?" Similarly, Stephanie Ericsson states, "Sure I lie, but it doesn 't hurt anything. Or does it?" in her essay, "The Ways We Lie.” Both Gunderman and Ericsson hold strong opinions in regards to lying and they appeal to their audience by incorporating personal experiences as well as references to answer the questions that so many long to confirm.
I believe everyone has that one person they can count on whether it’s your best friend from school, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, ect. But there’s just this one thing holding back the character Crooks from Steinbecks book Of Mice and Men. That is making and desiring a friendship someone he can talk to and not be whipped or discriminated on. Crooks is the African American, hunchback man who lives in the horse stables. Steinbeck shows many examples of how Crooks desires a friendship.

Anti-Semitism is the hatred and discrimination of those with a Jewish heritage. It is generally connected to the Holocaust, but the book by Helmut Walser Smith, The Butcher’s Tale shows the rise of anti-Semitism from a grassroots effect. Smith uses newspapers, court orders, and written accounts to write the history and growth of anti-Semitism in a small German town. Ever since we’ve had the ability to learn, we have been taught to be kind and considerate, to always smile and live in hope of tomorrow. Fairytales and storybooks have happy endings, where the ones who live humbly always win at the end. But is that the truth? Through The Pigman, Paul Zindel is able to show us the reality of life and how necessities like love are nothing more than a mere lie.
Piggy had an appetite to be needed and accepted as a person in the boys' society. Jack had to kill a pig; he saw no other way.
The topic I chose to write about is lonely. Many characters in The Pigman are lonely. Some of the characters in the story that are lonely are John, Loraine, Mr.Pignati, and Bobo. My definition of lonely is to be by ones self. Another definition of lonely is being forgotten, left alone. An example of lonely is “The boy was left alone in the park.”
In the great work, Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck makes clear that George is faced with many struggles. Steinbeck writes of a character that has many internal and external conflicts. Yet, through those conflicts, the reader learns the purpose of the novel; what the true meaning of friendship

Throughout the story, the animals begin the trust the pigs more and more, allowing themselves to be told what to do and be taken in with blind devotion. The pigs act on their newly gained trust and by the end of the story are able to lie back on their laurels and run the farm from the comfort of Mr. Jones’ armchair.
The Three Little Pigs has been an iconic story for many, many years. Many stories has been produced with different narrators each time. How can the same story have so many different versions? Many people think it is easy to target the audience and change it up a bit. In each version the language will switch around, the narrator usually will transition, and the audience has different targets. When the language is different the whole story changes also.
