Violeta Barrios was born in a small city near the Nicaraguan border with Costa Rica. Many would expect that coming from a Spanish-speaking country she would mostly enjoy Spanish records. However, because of her parents desire to master English she was sent abroad to study in San Antonio Texas, and then transferred to Blackstone College for Girls in Virginia. Violeta had seen her father play vinyl records in their house when she was little, but had no contact with it because she wasn’t interested. The first real experience she recalls is with her roommate in San Antonio. “Sarah,” she told me “had this fascination for vinyl records and possessed a large collection of them.” She was amazed at how her roommate had this ritual of pulling a record out of a sleeve and putting it on while focusing her attention on the act of listening for a side at a time, she really enjoyed the experience. My country is Honduras. Some people don't even know this country. Some people ask me where is Honduras, but the things I say is that "Honduras is wonderful places, even though they're bad people, or there no justice."I know that place could be wonderful if there is justice. In my life, I have lived in Honduras for 7 years, but I still remember a lot of things. Like in Honduras has wonderful beaches and landmarks. One of the wonderful things is the food. In Honduras, there is baleadas, tajadas, sopa de pescado, etc. One of the foods I like is the tajadas, they come from the platano macho. My mom is an expert in making tajadas. Whenever she told me "Hija quieres comer tajadas en la tarde (Daughter do you want to eat tajadas for dinner)",
The city that I want to focus is Concepcion Quezaltepeque, Chalatenango El Salvador, which is the city I lived for many years in my life. This is one of the cities that is located in one of the smallest countries of Central America. Many years ago this city was in very bad shape, its infrastructures were weaker and the economy was too, but then a lot of people decided to travel to the United States in order to help their families to have a better life and to improve their houses, some of them even made new homes for their love ones.
