True Love In Romeo And Juliet

True love is a controversial topic of interest. Many say true love exists, others say that true love is baloney. True love is presented as a love that triumphs over all else. However true love cannot be more powerful than the love of family.

Familial ties is a strong bond, it causes happiness but it can also cause grief, just like any other type of relationship, but familial bonds is stabler than ones created from true love. Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare is an excellent example, In “Romeo and Juliet” the Friar describes Romeo affection for Rosaline, his “True Love” as “Is Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear, So soon forsaken...And art thou changed? in Men”(Shakespeare 410). Romeo’s love for Rosaline waned the moment he saw a prettier woman, his idea of true love shows how brittle true love can be. Familial love, however, can extent till the end.
Other homo sapiens might argue that Romeo was young and rash, that most of the time true love is not this way. This argument can be easily dissuaded. You can simply look online and look at the number of divorced people in the United States, about 50% of adults are divorced. They could also argue that familial bonds aren’t strong, which can be shown by the number of orphans in the United States, This argument can be dissuaded when saying that these familial bonds are the minority.
Familial love is stable and resistant to time, true love is easily destroyed. True love is often just a fool’s notion that we all have another human that we are meant to be with. Familial love is something we cannot choose, but have to accept, which strengthens your familial bonds.
