True friends are never apart, maybe in distance but never in heart. In my opinion, I believe the term “friendship” means a strong bond you have with someone who understands you and you understand back. A true friend cares for you, supports you during your rough times, and protects you. Elliot learns from his encounter with E.T. that true friendship is found in the heart. In the paragraphs below, I will state how E.T. teaches Elliot that a true friend is someone who cares for you; supports you during your rough times; protects you.
First off, I will explain how the movie demonstrated that a friend is someone who cares for you. When Elliot woke up to find E.T. missing in the forest, he knew he wasn’t in the condition to find him, so he went home and asked his brother to help find him. Both Elliot and E.T. were sick and dying, but Elliot stayed with E.T because he cared and worried for him. Although his mom didn’t allow him to stay with E.T., Elliot still wanted to stay with him. This just shows the friendship they made throughout the short period of time. Elliot wanted to stay with E.T. because they had made a strong bond with each other, and no matter how difficult the situation was, they would both be there for

When E.T. told them that he wanted to go home, they helped him gather materials to make a device to call home. Instead of going out to Trick or Treat, Elliot spent his evening by going to the forest to help send a message to E.T.’s people. This shows that a friend supports you in rough times because E.T. was looking for a way to go home and Elliot supported him. E.T. was stranded on Earth, so he was having a difficult time returning to his home. However, since E.T. was friends with Elliot, Elliot supported and helped E.T. so that he could go home. This shows that whenever someone is going through a rough time, a friend is always willing to support

In Rodman Philbrick's Freak the Mighty he illustrates the idea of friendship. Max and Kevin a.k.a. Freak the Mighty go through many difficulties in life. One has physical problems and the other mental problems. They help each other get through these problems by supporting one another. For example when they get stuck in the tenements (apartments), or when they would go on their “quests.” When Max got upset when they talked
Have you ever wondered where the conspiracy that if you pee in a pool the water will turn blue comes from? It comes from the movie Grown Ups, when Kevin James is sitting in the pool with his two kids and all of a sudden a cloud of blue swarms around their bodies. All men that have seen this movie are paranoid of this happening in real life, whether they admit it or not. The combination of an all-star cast, a genuine lesson learned at the end, and a humor that appeals to all age groups makes for one of the best comedies ever. The director of Grown Ups, Dennis Dugan, did a fantastic job of assembling a cast of comedy genius’. The five main roles are played by Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider.
By definition a friend is a person who provides assistance and support. We have different groups of friends for different purposes in our lives. Although there are many different categories of friends, Marion Winik author of “What are Friends For?” mentions that some of the more common groups consist of the faraway, work, family, and former friends (132). We keep our friends because we value their loyalty, communication, support, and dependability.
Even though there friendship started off with hatred after talking, they got to know each other. They shared their goals, dreams, their education and their families with each other freely. Mr. Malter, Reuven’s father, tells Reuven what a friend is defined as, and tells Reuven to give Danny a chance to get to know him better, because Danny needs him.
We see this with Owen Meany when John tells us that Owen “gave me more than he ever took from me” (A Prayer for Owen Meany 2.509-511). Even with the death of John’s mother at the hands of Owen these too prove to be the best of friends. A friend is someone who is “A positive influence on your life” (What is Friendship? Friendship.about.com), this friendship proves this theory by the boys helping John finding his identity and Owen’s destiny. Along with friendship in the novel we see the importance of family and the role that it plays throughout the novel.
Friendship means different things for everyone. It can mean happiness and trust. Friends are important to connect to, talk to, and to help in tough situations. Friends help teach life lessons. Most importantly, friends are there to love and to feel loved. The Simple Gift by Steven Herrick revolves around the friendship between the main characters, Old Bill, Billy, and Caitlin. Their friendship resulted in them learning valuable life lessons and experiencing the power of love.
Gender and the portrayal of gender roles in a film is an intriguing topic. It is interesting to uncover the way women have been idealized in our films, which mirrors the sentiments of the society of that period in time. Consequently, the thesis of this essay is a feminist approach that seeks to compare and contrast the gender roles of two films. The selected films are A few Good Men and Some Like it Hot.
From their first meeting, Mr. Elliot is "genuinely attracted" to Anne (Magill 29). He is not merely using her to get what he wants. Yes, he wants to "safeguard the title" (DaDundo 26), but not just for himself, yet for the title, or family name, itself. After all, it is vulnerable to "the plague of Mrs. Clay" (Austen 97), "whose 'freckles' not only indicate a flawed and 'spotted' moral interior but may indeed suggest remnants or traces of syphilis[!]" (Tanner 255). His attraction to Anne then is motivated by good on two counts. He is intereste...

The Pursuit of Happyness is a film, based on a true story, depicting the life of a black man who lives in the borderline of the middle class, before falling deeper into poverty while trying to support his motherless child. Chris Gardner and his son Christopher, portrayed by actor Will Smith and his own son Jayden, depict how the lower class lived in the 1980’s, and explored the hardships many Americans faced, such as homelessness, the job market, the breaking apart of a family, and supporting a family while living in poverty. The Pursuit of Happyness, a real life film directed by Gabriele Muccino, tells the story of a man and his family living in poverty, and how Chris Gardner climbed out of poverty through hard-work and determination, while showcasing issues that are still relevant even today.

As friends, we all make sacrifices for each other. Some friends risk their lives for a friend. An example of this true friendship can be found in the movie, American Pie. Todd had a championship football game, but on the same day there was an All-State choir going on. Todd and his girlfriend were both into choir. He couldn’t be in two places at once, so he gave up his football game so that he could be with his girlfriend. Everyone on the football game looked up to him because he made a sacrifice to be with his girlfriend. When his girlfriend asked why. He responded, I did it for you. This shows friendship through a humble heart.
Growing up in school you have your friends in 1st, then in Jr. High, and then when you get to high school you might not even know or see your friends from 1st grade anymore. For the few people who’s had a friend from 1st grade till college I think that someone they need to hold on to because if they stuck with you through all them year I know they’re there for the right reason and there not just there for a season. As Elizabeth Dunphy says, “It’s the little things that matter, that add up in the end, with the priceless thrilling magic found only in a friend.”
