Things are finally looking exciting for “True Detective” Season 2 after a catastrophic episode 4 titled “Vinci Massacre” with a sex party and imminent death waiting to greet fans near the end of the series.
True Detective’s second season is nearing its end and for the past two months, the episodes have been quite dragging. But it looks like things are finally picking up as Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams ) takes on an undercover mission at a sex party and Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn) may face death in his confrontation with Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell), according to the Venture Capital Post.
In episode 4, a bloody shootout left murder suspect Ben Caspere dead, but it would seem that the case is not yet closed. The next episode, “Other Lives,”
takes viewers two months ahead when Ray has resigned from the force and is now working for Frank, who is back in the crime business. Meanwhile, Ani is undergoing counseling for sexual harassment but will later go undercover in a “colossal orgy sequence” in her quest for answers and evidence, Los Angeles Times relays. Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch), on the other hand, is pursuing his wedding plans but is being sidetracked by insurance fraud investigations. Ray, Ani, and Woodrugh are given a chance to redeem themselves when State Attorney Katherine Davis (Michael Hyatt) invites them to join a special unit to investigate the gruesome murder of Vinci City Manager Ben Caspere. Episode 5 ends with Ray’s trip to Frank’s house and a standoff brewing between the two. Carter Matt revealed that Ray thinks Frank put him in his present situation and they will become involved in a violent confrontation. True Detective is expected to heat up during its Episode 6 “Church Ruins,” in which Ray, Ani, and Paul are a step closer to the real killer. But their situations are complicated by their struggle to hide and deal with their own messy individual lives.
Once in town, he headed directly to the Sheriff?s Office. When he got there he told the sheriff what happened, then they both, Ben and Madec went to the doctor. When they were in the doctor?s office, the doctor examined them both. When Ben went back to the sheriff?s, Madec went to the hospital, the sheriff arrested Ben. Ben told the truth about what happened, but they couldn?t understand what Madec did. They believed what Madec had said. When the trial came along, things were looking badly for Ben. Until the doctor stepped out. The doctor had found Ben?s slingshot, and said that he examined the dead guy, and found that the .358 bullet killed him. Ben was no longer arrested. They took him back to the sheriff?s office, where Ben didn?t report a crime of murder or aggravated assault, he reported an accident.
Yet, the detectives did not get a call, “for days more, Mayberry, Joefox, and the Ghost are on the bubble. Amazing! Still no murders on 3-to-11” (358). However, I think he made this choice to illustrate the different perceptions readers have of detectives. Throughout the article the details seen are towards case by case information, apart from the experiences that V.I. has lived through. Yet, near the end of the article, the detectives have an “old fashioned, mom-and-pop murder” that allows a different perspective of V.I. perspective of this case as he describes it as, “You don’t get many like this anymore” (268). Overall, I think Harrington allows the opening scene to contribute a more humane approach to the detectives, as there is a difference in homicide cases from drug murders to ‘old fashioned’ cases. True Detective was enjoyable to read because of the development of V.I. and how the much is done from a 3 to 11
My initial inspiration for this piece was Trifles, which funnily enough only shares the characteristic of detectives being involved within the plot. As per suggestion on my proposal, I developed my idea of detectives solving a case further by including dialogue and inter-personnel relationships similar to those found in Glengarry Glen Ross. Taking the idea of different members of the real-estate office discussing work and plotting in Glengarry Glen Ross, and applying them to a trio of detectives on a case was interesting to say the least.

Detective fiction always ends with a successful resolution because law and order is restored. Once moral and social order is restored this impacts the reader as they are still trying to figure out how it happened and how did Holmes solve the crime. The reader also feels relieved when a crime is solved especially if it was Victorian readers.
With a record of an average 119 television channels available to each household, television dominates American life (MediaBuyerPlanner). This wide assortment of television gives viewers many different realities to imitate, like a small child following and obeying its parent. One of the leading television shows in our society is the CSI franchise, with three different extensions. CSI, and shows similar to it, portray the criminal justice system in a negative light, which causes confusion between reality and fiction. Television is a means of entertainment, yet its influence on today’s generation is powerful and enchanting. Television shows centered on criminal justice are implausible portrayals of reality that create unrealistic expectations of evidence in the courtroom, as well as creating superfluous fear of murder for the viewers.

In a world filled with criminal shows on television, it is difficult to get an accurate idea of what it truly means to be a police officer or a detective. It seems easier to absorb the analysis they present and simultaneously solve the case; however, is that truly how it works? Criminal Minds is one of the most popular shows on television today. This is due to the way it portrays the FBI in their endless search for villains unfound and rampant. Law and Order portrays the entire process of find, justifying, and incriminating offenders. Another show similar to Law and order is 24. 24 goes through an entire day in one, twenty-four episode, season. It does this in great detail to show the audience how they arrived at conclusion of who was guilty.
Something happened my sophomore year of high school that little did I know would change my perspective, not only of myself, but life in general. I was looking for something new and exciting to enhance my high school existence and decided to give the Criminal Justice Club a try. I was familiar with the advisor of the club, but knew that the club had astigmatism for attracting those students who were just looking for something easy to do. I knew about the criminal justice system, but only what they show on Law and Order. However, I immediately fell in love, not only with the club but the entire prospect of Criminal Justice. I stepped into the club as if it were a place I belonged and easily became a leader. I was able to learn things the TV shows
Between all of the criminal shows on television these days, it is hard to get an accurate idea of what it truly means to be a police officer or a detective. Sure, it is simple to listen to all of their analysis and listen to the way they find the bad guys, but is that truly how it works? Criminal Minds is one of the most popular shows on television today because of the way it portrays the FBI in their endless search of new bad guys and the way it shows the criminals’ plot and true evil. Law and Order carefully portrays the entire process behind putting the criminals away. 24 goes through the entire day in one, twenty-four, episode season just to show the viewer every moment of a story. Shows like Psych make fun of the police officers and the
Report writing is a form of writing that gives it reader information a type of writing that explain what is taking place or what has taking it a recounting of events . Most newspapers use this type of descriptive recreation of events within their report writing they explain the circumstances of case, court proceeding, type of crime that occurred, etc. (Police reports and there purpose (n.d). Having the ability to write reports is of extreme importance in police and correctional work daily. Police reports are read by supervisors, police chiefs, fellow officers as well as other criminal justice professionals. Furthermore these documents are written to display the result of an investigation, crimes scene, incidents, and more so it is imperative that there is no grammar errors or misspellings with in the document. Police report writers paint the picture of the events that took place from the time they were called until, the time of their arrival to a crime scene or incident. It’s important that all reports submitted by correctional workers and police officer be well-written with factual information giving step by step details of everything that transpired in chronological order also being very specific about every detail. The reason this is of high important is because this report can assist prosecutor in obtaining a valid conviction of the proper suspect accused (Police reports and there purpose (n.d). Whereas if the police report is poorly written the defense can argue against the finding and may use the discrepancies against the prosecuting state. When poorly written reports are enter into evident for juries to deliberate on it a huge possibility that the report may cause jurors to call into to question whether the officer who wrote it is as careless in other aspects of their police work. as noted by (Police reports and there purpose (n.d). Use of violence in hard-boiled detective fiction is hardly remarkable—as Lewis D. Moore writes, “the genre never relinquishes [it] as a theme for the exploration of modern American culture” (49). What is remarkable, however, is the skill with which hard-boiled writers since the formation of the genre have layered violence in their narratives: while the plot contains the most obvious, overt instances of brutality, they also infuse their texts with non-plot devices like characters, language, and setting, achieving an intensity of violence that cannot be constructed by plot
This is somewhat realistic in that detectives can be switched on and off of cases at any given time if there is a reason to. It
Detective fiction is read and has been read for going on 200 years, simply because the stories are entertaining. The authors are truly what help to draw people back to the genre. This appeal of reading for fun is one that would strike any literate person as intriguing, and that’s exactly what detective fiction does. Because there are no serious moral or social values to be derived from reading these mysteries, people keep coming back! I have enjoyed reading detective fiction for eight years now, and it’s the simple escape from the “required” or educational readings that keep me coming back, and that’s the most likely reason that detective fiction has managed to stay around and so popular for such a long time.
