Trucks and SUV’s – An Equity Mining Opportunity
There are two kinds of vehicle owners in this country, those that drive a truck (SUV’s included) and those that want a truck. In the latest 2018 May sales recap, Trucks commanded 62% of new vehicle sales. So complete is this paradigm change in the market that Ford will quit producing cars in 2020. This presents a tremendous opportunity for equity mining. Every “car” in the service lane presents an opportunity. It’s not that people just want Trucks they need trucks. The culture both young and old is increasingly focusing on wellness. Trucks and SUV’s are now crucial for hauling gear. Paddleboards, kayaks, biking, hiking you name it are all facilitated by owning a Truck. It used to be that those that owned a pickup truck had also had a car in the driveway. But now that second vehicle is an SUV.

Very rarely does anyone have to have a new vehicle. A truck or SUV is a very impulse purchase for very rationale reasons. “It’s so handy for chores around the house.” “It provides greater visibility and safety”. “It allows us to haul paddleboards and kayaks.” And so on. Place a SUV or Crossover equipped with a bike rack, paddle boards or kayak in the service drive next to the customer lounge entrance. Have artwork on the customer lounge walls featuring truck, SUV and crossovers in lifestyle settings. We have always said that two of the most influential factors in sales are social acceptability and a compelling reason to buy. Trucks and SUVs give you
Owning an automobile presents the opportunity to preserve personal independence. However, It is unclear how Mr. Bragg ends up with the conclusion that the SUV alone represents personal independence. The very reason for owning a care is for personal independence; therefore, the SUV is not the sole means to achieve this. Additionally, the paper goes on to state that the secondary purpose for the SUV is personal protection. Man...
AutoZone has responded to changes in its' macro environment by placing stores in regions "that have large number of vehicles seven years old and older because of these cars' need for repairs and maintenance" (Wikinvest.com, 2012). Nationally, sales of new automobiles were at a 30-year low in 2009, but they have since rebounded slightly. Customers are still reluctant to buy new vehicles due to concern over high prices and general jitters about the economy. To combat this, many manufacturers have been offering discounts to lure consumers to purchase. As a result, AutoZone is facing a boon in the marketplace- "the cars and trucks in America's driveways have reached a record old age" (USAToday, 2012). In addition, there are more vehicles registered in the U.S. than previously.

In the United States, modern car manufacturing has been historically dominated by the American companies including Ford Motor Co., Chrysler Group LLC, and General Motors Co. These three companies, known as the Detroit Three, controlled 95% of the market in the 1950’s and the dominance continued until the beginning of the 21st century. In the 1980’s Japanese auto manufacturers entered the United States, a decade later the Germans, and finally in 2000’s the Koreans. By the end of 2009, the Detroit Three only accounted for 45% of the total U.S. auto market. Another factor that had influence on this was constant fluctuations in gasoline prices and price sensitive consumers. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, gas prices hit record high averaging $3.07 per gallon in May 2007 and kept climbing up to $4.08 in July 2008. As gas prices kept increasing, consumer buying trends have been changing. In 2006 sales for SUVs, pickup trucks, and vans dropped 16%, while the market for compact cars rose by 3%. Unfortunately, the Detroit Three were not prepared for this since their...

The United States trucking industry is a very thriving industry and has continued to grow since the beginning of the 1900’s. The motor carrier act of 1935 allowed regulations to be set for the growing trucking industry. These standards made trucking safer for the driver and others as well. With the growing of mass production of products, transporting these goods was not efficient using trains or other types of shipping, so large trucks and trailers became the most popular method for shipping. This created a huge market for truck producers to supply trucks for the new form of freight transportation. Brother’s Jack and Augustus Mack saw the perfect opportunity to use their mechanical abilities.
Trucks of all varieties travel the roads, from flatbeds carrying large amounts across major highways to stylish glossy Peterbilts personal truck models from the middle of the 20th century. The truck has been engineered to meet its fullest potential in modern luxury SUV/pickup with touchscreen navigation, Sirius radio, and DVD players. Whether the bed of the truck is used for transporting things or not, the point of the need to carry goods connects every truck to a legacy that reaches even further back then the invention of the internal combustion engine. The modern history of the motorized truck parallels that of the car, and both are products of the twentieth century.

These are all things to keep eye on as some automotive companies will run their own surveys making their products seem overpowering against the competition. Some prove their products are safer then the competition where the competition has been proven time and time again to make that survey seem inaccurate.

When you hear the term “used car”, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Some may think of an old rusty Cadillac that belongs in a junkyard. Others may think of that nice Camaro at the used car dealership for sale. Over the years, used car sales have skyrocketed. In 2012, over 40.5 million used cars were purchased in the United States (Atiyeh, 2013). Used cars are in high demand in today’s economy because of the lower prices, slightly higher gas mileage, and that they can be more trustworthy against some of the newer models. With used car sales always climbing, how do buyers know what they are looking for in a vehicle? How do they come down to the final decision of where to purchase the vehicle? Most importantly, how can buyers make sure that they do not get scammed? This paper will take you through the process of purchasing a used vehicle, from deciding on a budget, all the way to the final purchase of your “new” car.
In addition to the car model and color choices were decisions on options packages. And having seen the "pimped out" SUVs on MTV Cribs, complete with two or three LCD screens (one in the dashboard for the driver, of course), DVD player, speakers costing more than my college education, GPS navigation systems similar to those used in the Space Shuttle, heated seats, and 20 inch chrome wheels, my eyes were wide with opportunity.
