This is my biome project I picked the Rainforest because I like the animals in the forest like lizards, birds, sloths and jaguars. Also I like the plants in the Rainforest because they are cool and colorful and here are some flowers that are in the Rainforests like the lilies, heliconia and the bromeliads.
The largest rainforests are in the Amazon River Basin South America, the Congo River Basin western Africa, and throughout much of southeast Asia. Smaller rainforests are located in Central America, Madagascar, Australia and nearby islands, India, and other locations in the tropics. This region was once entirely covered with rainforest, but large areas have been cleared for cattle ranching and for sugar cane plantations. Like other major rainforests, the jungles and mangrove swamps of Central America contain many plants and animals found nowhere else. Central America is famous for its large number of tropical birds, including many kinds of parrots.
The tropical rainforest is a forest type that captures huge attention from the public. It is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating interactions between climate, vegetation and organisms, and soil that exists in the world today. The rainforests which previously occupied up to 24 million square kilometres today occupy only some 10

million square kilometres on either side of the equator. The main areas of this immensely important rainforest are: the Amazon basin, Central Africa, mainly involving Zaire, and Southeast Asia. These are the ideal conditions for lush plant growth. If you would go to the rainforest you would see these types of animals a sloth, parrots, monkeys, jaguars and toucans. The plants that they have in a rainforest are banana trees, coffee trees, brazil nut trees, rubber trees and cacao trees.
Many animals are essential in the reproductive processes of forest plants. Bats are known to be pollinators of more than 300 plant species (many of which are economically important as timber, fuel, fiber, medicine, or dyes). In Southeast Asia, bats pollinate popular forest fruits such as durian, banana and mango (Payne, 1995). Nectar-feeding birds and insects such as beetles, bees, and wasps are even more important than bats in tropical
forests. Tropical Rainforest. One of the most fascinating biomes on planet Earth is the tropical rainforest. It is filled with tall trees, interesting plants, giant insects, and all sorts of animals. As you might have guessed from the name, rainforests are forests that get a lot of rain.Lower down are tree ferns and similar short trees, and next there is the forest floor - dark but far from lifeless. These are the organisms that produce the source of food for the community. Producers are usually green plants and are essential for the survival of the community. I learned that it has interesting stuff like the plants and animals. Also the rainforest has cool colors like purple, red and blue. Also the rainforest are all over the world. Also there are cool trees like banana trees and cacao trees and also brazil nut trees and coffee trees. Also i learned that rainforest only cover around 2 percent the total surface area of the Earth, but really about 50 percent of the plants and animals. This is the end of my essay i hoped you liked it.I enjoyed learning about the rainforest and all the cool things that are in the rainforest like flowers and animals. Also now I no interesting things about the rainforest that i didn’t no.
Tropical rainforests are an extremely unique and diverse ecosystem that are located around the earth’s equator. They once covered roughly 7% of the world, but due to human encroachment that has dwindled to just 2%. It is a highly moisture rich environment that typically receives anywhere between 60 and 400 inches of rainfall annually and average humidity ranges from 70 to 90%.
Central America: The Central American region was once entirely covered with rainforest, sadly now large areas have been cleared for cattle ranching and for sugar cane plantations. The jungles and mangrove swamps of Central America have many plants and animals found nowhere else. The forest in Central America is famous for it’s large number of tropical birds.
Farmers are a large problem for the tropical rain forests in South America. When farmers need more land, they start to chop trees down in the rain forest to make more space for farming. Rainforests once covered more than 14 percent of the earth. Sadly, rainforests now cover about 6 percent of the earth, which leads to the destruction of various animals’ habitats.
Tropical rainforests which is located between tropic of Capricorn and tropic of Cancer covered 12% of land surface few thousand years ago. However, today they o...
Rainforests once covered 14% of the worlds land surface, however now it only covers a mere 6%. It is estimated that all rainforests could be consumed in less than 40 years. Trees are becoming more needed and used everyday. We need them cut down for many reasons such as paper and timber, while also needing them ‘untouched’ for other reasons like oxygen, we have to ask ourselves, which is more important? At the current rate, most of the rainforests are being cut down for resources like paper and timber, but less importance is being placed on main resources like oxygen.
The rainforests are “home to over half of all living things [and]…cover less than 7 percent of the land surface of the globe” (Lewis, 1990, pg 14).

The Rainforest would have been wet and had warm climate. To help maintain the grassy areas, trees, and plants. Both the trees and plants play roles in the global climate and they support the water cycle. The bodies of water that flow all through the rainforest would be giant rivers, streams, basin, waterfalls, and lakes. The water’s would be a
The tropical rainforests have an abundance of plants and animals. Covering less than 6% of the earth's surface, tropical rainforests are only found near the equator.(1?) They can be located in central America, Africa and Indo-Malaysia.(1) The tropical rainforests are warm year round with temperatures averaging between 68 degrees and 93 degrees fahrenheit. (1) There is a large amount of rainfall
A mosaic of rivers, forests, savannas, swamps and flooded forests, the Congo Basin is teeming with life… There are approximately 10, 000 species of tropical plants in the Congo Basin and 30 percent are unique to the region. Endangered wildlife, including forest elephants, chimpanzees, Pan paniscus, and lowland and mountain gorillas inhabit the lush forests. 400 other species of mammals, 1,000 species of birds and 700 species of fish can also be found here.
During the past several decades, changes in the global climatic pattern has become evident and has attracted much attention from both the general public and the professional environmental organizations. Deforestation is one of the main reasons for these known changes. One of the reasons that cause the disappearing of the Amazon rainforest is industrial logging, which is the single largest problem. Other problems that also contribute to the disappearing of the Amazon forests include road construction, cattle ranching, and the production of wood products, all of which are important factors to be considered. The Amazon rainforest is the world's largest rain forest today, which has 54 percent of the total rainforests that are remaining on the planet. If Amazonia is a country, it would be the ninth largest country in the world. The Amazon is very important because it is a major contributor to the balance of global climatic patterns and because it provides places for variety of living organisms. A single pond in Brazil can contain more kinds of fish than are found in all of Europe's rivers. Twenty-five acre of rainforest in Borneo may contain over seven hundred species of trees, which is equal to the number of trees in the whole North America; one single rainforest in Peru has more bird species than the entire United States. One tree in Peru had forty-three different species of ants, which is the estimated to be equal to the number of ant species in the British Isles. The Amazon rainforest is truly amazing. You are standing in the middle of a hot and muggy tropical rainforest near the equator. As you feel rain hit your head you look up to see trees upon trees which are hundreds of feet tall. When you look at around the area surrounding you, you notice many types of life. Whether it be small plants like ferns or large animals such as jaguars and apes. The tropical rainforest is a very important piece of our earth. This is because they provide much life such as trees and plants. These trees and plants provide oxygen for us and our world. Which is why it is so important to treat it well. This paper will share information about the climate, the food chain, and the landscapes of the tropical rainforests.
Most of us know what rainforests are, and how they can benefit us. But, only few of us know what rainforest do, and how they are most important to Earth. There are two types of rainforests; tropical and temperate rainforest. Tropical rainforest are known mostly for its rich evergreen vegetation. Also, being a home for over 50 percent of the Earth’s living species. Even though, it holds about 7 percent of landmass on Earth. A Tropical Rainforest is a broad leaved evergreen forest, which has high rainfall. These are found around the Equator. Specifically, Central America, South America, Southern Asia, and Australia (which however, goes through a dry spell twice a year). The Amazon Rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest in the world; located in northern South America. It is three million square miles. Which is nearly the size of the United States. Tropical Rainforest have warm temperatures year around, and high rain fall. Temperate Rainforest, however, are smaller than Tropical Rain Forest. But they have mostly, coniferous vegetation and are known for its cooler climate. They are located in Norway, Chile, Tasmania, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and along the Pacific coast of Canada and the United States. In contrast to Tropical Rainforest. Temperate rainforest have cool temperatures here year round, but manages to have 5 to 16 feet of rain a year. This kind of climate produces plants like, Redwood trees and large conifers.
Rainforests in the Amazon River basin are home to millions of species of plants and animals. They are also home to indigenous tribes that have lived here for many thousands of years.
The rainforest fauna features over 40 different animal species. The Park is conservation area for many endangered animals such as forest elephants, Diana monkeys, bongo, yellow backed duicker, leopards, red river hog, many reptiles, over 500 butterfly species and others. Many of the trees in the forest contain ingredients used for medical purposes.
