Sam ran deeper into the forest frantically searching for his friends. He yelled for his friends, but he never got an answer in return. He looked around to see if he was being followed, but he didn’t hear anything in the empty forest. He got startled as he heard the sound of a gunshot behind him. “Tripp? Is that you? James? Are you there?” He waited for a minute, hoping to hear something. “Sam? Is that you?” Sam turned into the direction of Tripp’s voice. “Tripp, lets just get out of this forest.” There was a long pause in the forest, then Sam heard and saw a bush move, but he didn’t know if it was a person or the breeze. You can’t just kill him.” “It’s either kill him, or let him turn into one of those things. Trust me, this is the right choice.” Sam stared at Tripp in disbelief. “Tripp, you can’t kill me! Maybe I’ll live! Maybe I’ll survive this bite.” “We can’t take that chance. I’m sorry. James, turn away.” Tripp looked at Sam and held up his gun at Sam’s head. He hesitated before he started to count down to three. Sam closed his eyes and waited for it to all end. “One. Two. Three.” Sam heard the clip of the pistol as Tripp pulled the trigger, but there was no loud bang as he expected. He opened his eyes. “Out of ammo?” asked James. “Perhaps I should have checked the clip before deciding to shoot Sam.” He put his pistol into his gun holster and looked up at James. “Can I use your gun?” James took his gun out of his holster and checked the clip. “Sorry, I’m
