One main idea of this book was that with the right mindset anything is possible. This is proven in the book when Louie is in the concentration camp and has to hold up a large piece of wood while having the Japanese guards stare at him. This shows that he had the mindset that he could outlast the guards and that he could overcome any obstacles in life.
During times of war, man is exposed to the most gruesome aspects of life such as death, starvation, and imprisonment. In some cases, the aftermath is even more disastrous, causing posttraumatic stress disorder, constant guilt, as well as physical and mental scarring, but these struggles are not the only things that humans can take away from the experience. War can bring out the appreciation of the little things in life, such as the safety people take for granted, the beauty of nature, and the kindness of others. These universal consequences of fighting all contribute to what war is really capable of doing, sometimes bringing out the best and worst in people, and constantly shaping society. In The Things They Carried, Tim O’Brien goes through this himself when he writes about setting up base camp in the Vietnamese pagoda, the return to site of Kiowa’s death, the story about the old poppa-san guide, and Mitchell Sanders’ “moment of peace”. When O’Brien includes these stories, it is not to insert joy into a tragedy, but rather to create a more wholesome and authentic feel into a tough, realistic war story. O’Brien’s’ “sweet” stories are there to show the hope he had during war, and also serve as a universal example that even in the darkest tunnels, it is always possible to find rays of light.
Basketball was created and has been played since December 1891 (Griffiths, 2010), it is a game of skill and talent that is enjoyed by fans all over the world. There are numerous leagues, but the two main leagues are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA). The NCAA is considered amateur where the players are not paid, and the NBA is considered professional where players make millions of dollars. In order for the NBA to get their players they draft from the NCAA, but the rules have changed several times over the years that have permitted players to enter the NBA. The current rule states that NBA players must be one year removed from high school or 19 years of age (Article X, 2008), this rule is considered by many needing the most change.

The African serval has a very keen sense of hearing, which plays a crucial part in hunting for prey. As stated earlier, the serval has well developed ear bullae which are approximately 22 percent of the length of its head. This allows the serval to hunt its prey in tall grasses by listening to vibrations of rodents moving around. They are even able to hear rodents underground and will dig them up. Another feature of the African serval is its long slim legs that aid the cat in navigating through high grass and reed beds. Also, they have unusually large metacarpals that aid in its ability to leap 2 – 3 m in the air to catch, or pounce on prey.

William Caslon, also known as William Caslon the Elder, was born in Cradley, Worcestershire England, The exact date is unknown but it is speculated to be in the years 1692 or 1693. Ten years after that Caslon opened up his own engraving shop in 1716 in London and he began to create tools for bookbinders and silver objects. During this time Caslon’s work took the attention of the printer John Watts and many other presses in London. Imagination has become important to the revolution of society and nature. John Tyndall, an Irish natural philosopher of the nineteenth century, believed that our mind and spirit must work together. Tyndall published his essay called “Scientific Use of the Imagination,” where it seems that it was written to validate his position on the scientific use of imagination and to persuade other scholars as science was expanding into universities. John Tyndall belief was that we need imagination to uncover the unseen things of nature. Tyndall’s idea is credible as he was a physicist, draftsman, and mathematician who integrates each one in his writing to demonstrate that we need freedom of thought to progress. He is effective by using deductive reasoning
