He loved this craft so much he opened a shop in Cheyenne. His shop, White Cap Marine, is the place where all that passion and work is brought to light. He said that there was “more responsibility” to owning it. It was also a bit costly to Rogers. There were special tools the shop needed that he had to buy, which was expensive. There is also a different mindset that comes with being an owner says Rogers. He can’t even call in sick anymore! According to Linkedin, there are many changes to the psychology of someone going from an employee to an owner. “ When you were an employee, you had deadlines” is one of the things that were mentioned. As an owner you now have to create the deadlines and be more organized. Another quote said by Linkedin was “When you were an employee, you didn’t have to market.” The owner has to sell his products and organize the sales. “But marketing is the ultimate service. She knew him while Rogers was still in the restaurant field. Pridgeon recalls that Rogers has had a passion for boats ever since she met him. She says that he has always loved the outdoors and fishing had always been his passions. Pridgeon did not share Trent’s passion as heavily, but said her first time in a boat was with him while camping. It was a small boat and Trent’s knowledge of boats made her feel safer. Pridgeon was scared when Rogers first opened his business because of how much time and money you have to put into it. She also felt nervous and excited for Rogers. She sometimes thinks that Rogers is so busy between dealing with the books, answering the phones, making orders and finding time to work on the boats too. It was also exciting that someone she grew up with was able to start a successful business. Rogers has never worked on Pridgeon’s boats since she doesn’t own any, but every time she goes to Cheyenne he seems to be working on one. Pridgeon would and has recommended Rogers’ business to other people. Pridgeon would later say that Rogers is really good at what he does and she is proud of him. Trent currently owns two fishing boats. One of them is a Sylvan and the other is a Valco. On his boats he has never had to assist with a boat emergency on the water. On the subject of boats, Rogers has worked on many sports boats, but never a yacht. The biggest vessel he’s worked on was a 42-foot

The time of the Industrial Revolution allowed little room for smaller companies to make a name because the big businesses had monopolies over certain areas of industry. Therefore, for a person to make a name for himself, he had to do so with ambition, money, reputation, and inner strength. By reason of an owner not possessing these qualities, then by the rigors of business owning he would be mentally crushed by the amount of work that falls upon the owner's shoulders. In addition, even though labor came cheaply to t...

Landscape painting was extremely important during the middle of the nineteenth century. One of the leading practitioners of landscape painters in America was Thomas Cole. He visited many places seeking the “natural” world to which he might utilize his direct observations to convey the untainted nature by man to his audience. His works resolved to find goodness in American land and to help Americans take pride in their unique geological features created by God. The ranks of management have changed from primarily white male, to a more diverse mix of race and gender. Management tactics have also altered. Gone are the days of a manager yelling and throwing a chair against a wall during a meeting. This was the first image to dominate management thought about the nature of organizations. The Industrial Revolution brought with it the growth of large-scale organizations and the need to develop ways of managing them. Prior to this time, organizations were smaller, their owners typically managed them, and the relatively few employees could be supervised directly by the owner. The evolution of factory technologies coupled with the growth of efficient capital markets enabled small organizations to grow in the latter part of the 1800s. In the process, the number of owners often increased and most were passive shareholders with no active management role. At the same time, extensive immigration in the latter part of the 19th century provided firms with large pools of cheap labor to run the new machinery and the number of employees often grew rapidly. These changes led to increasing demand for "professional" managers capable of organizing and controlling the workforce for the mass production of rather simple goods to serve the interests of the absentee owners.
