Standing Up for Transgender Rights: A Street Encounter

Sometimes, people stand up for transgenders as if they were friend. Last year, my brother and me were walking down the street when we saw a man yelling at a woman. The man was shouting at her, calling her a tranny. The woman had her head down but when she looked up, her face was like a man who put on a wig, and who knows, it could have been. The woman said something, but I didn’t hear it, but the man seemed like he grew angrier. The woman looked like she was going to cry. Then a guy in a suit and what seemed like his date walked in and noticed the argument. The couple walked towards the situation and they joined the argument but against the man. They started to defend the woman, that’s when I heard that the woman was really a transgender

woman.

The man continued his argument and started to talk about how he had walked into the men's restroom to find a women peeing in a stall. He exclaimed that, why didn’t she just go into the woman’s restroom, but then noticed that she was a transgender. He made a face when he said it, and proceeded to say really horrible things, but the couple stopped him and said that she is as equal as everyone. They created their counter argument rather quickly. This went on for a couple minutes and they calmed the man down. He said okay then, I don’t really care anymore, she could go to any restroom she wants like you two said. He then walked away leaving his unfinished food behind. The woman thanked the couple and looked as if she had been crying. The couple told her no problem and the woman decided to leave the restaurant to avoid trouble. Although having transgenders using public restrooms can cause, problems. They can be solved in a few

years.

Sometimes, we run into someone who looks like a man, but isn’t one. One day, I was walking to the public restroom. I was 13 and we were just done eating when a man got up and went into a woman’s restroom. The manager had noticed and told the man to get out of the restroom. The man then said he was using the toilet. The manager then said, why aren’t you using the men’s restroom then. The man right away got angry and told him to go away. Frustrated, the manager then shouted again, why aren’t you using the men’s restroom. The man then said he was a woman. The manager’s face was of disgust. The manager couldn’t tell if he was lying or telling the truth. Either way, just by his body language, you could notice how angry but disgusted he was by the comment. The argument went on when another woman went inside. My guess is she saw the transgender man inside the woman’s restroom and screamed. The manager called the police. When they arrived, they checked the man/she’s profile and was discovered that he/she was a transgender. The manager still looked horrified and staring at the transgender as if it came down for space and looking at him like if he was a thing scraped off the ground. If there were three separate restrooms we wouldn’t have any problems.

Sometimes, situations involving the use of public restrooms for transgenders, can occur at public schools. Transgenders are disrespected and are bullied in public restrooms. So of course in public schools, they would be bullied as well.
