Why exactly I don’t know but I do know that from that day on I was hooked on lifting. That day was the day that I started lifting weights seriously and it was one of my best decisions ever. Ever since then I have been almost obsessed with getting as strong as possible, and luckily for me I wasn’t the only one. Many other people have done plenty of research on what supplements, what workouts, and how much you should workout to get stronger and better. In my freshman year at Lewisville High School I joined the wrestling team. Originally my only reason for joining this discourse community was to lose the weight I gained over the previous summer, but that changed when I got to experience the joy of wrestling firsthand. Being a part of the wrestling team helped me understand the inner workings of the sport, the importance of team chemistry, and what perseverance can accomplish. Joining this discourse community was the best decision I made high school by far.
Growing up my parents ran a little lake on the outskirts of my hometown of Shelbina here in northeast Missouri. I was the "tough" one out of my family by the time I was in the ninth grade I could use two weed eaters at the same time and pick up the back end of a golf cart. At 5'3 and wearing size 16 I was big girl and was often made fun of by my peers. I wanted to be something other than the "fat girl" at school. So I became stronger than an ox and used that to my advantage. My high school coach seen me one day bench pressing a picnic table and begged me to join the weightlifting program. I excelled at the class and became known as "Pipes" I went from being the chunky girl to being the girl that was respected for my bench pressing and squats. My coach believed in me and that was all I needed to continue to do my best. That year I made a C average except for weightlifting where I got an A and earned the respect from my peers and my coach.

Strength training, one of the most important parts of exercise, is usually overlooked. People don’t understand that something as simple as jumping jacks is considered strength training. Most of the populations everywhere don’t understand the health benefits of it either. Some may try for a few days or weeks and expect drastic changes, but change doesn’t just happen so quickly. You can’t go to a cow and expect a cheeseburger. Change doesn’t occur that fast. Most people look to strength training for losing weight or even to gain muscle mass. These are the reasons why I starting strength training, but I later found out about all the other health benefits that came along with it.
I was able to gain knowledge about the different parts of the body which are important in the field of bodybuilding. I discover that there are main muscle groups and each of these muscle groups have different parts. For example, the main muscle groups would be the chest, back, arms, shoulders and legs. Now each of these main muscle groups have more that one part, your arms has biceps, triceps and a forearms. Each of these parts are made up or many more segments that can construct a list that can go on for a while. Gaining such a vast understanding of my body was thrilling. I was able to understand all the parts of my body. I am confident that I know almost every muscle group that is in the known human body. After learning about each individual muscle, I was then able to move on to the next step understanding how to train these individual muscle groups. I figured out that there are different routines that you have to follow in order to train each muscle. For example, your legs can be split into different muscles segments such as the quads, calves, and hamstrings. Once I isolated each muscle segment I was able to find workouts for each of them. For the quadriceps you would do workouts known as a barbell squat, lunges and reverse leg curls. Then after finding this out I had to

In my quest to create a well rounded and A+ worthy essay about Shakespeare's As You Like It, I came upon key elements of popular culture pertaining to feminism and the rhetoric used to describe it. Of course, “strong female character” is a term thrown around plenty now days, however, I never took a moment to contemplate what it meant. Unfortunately, my research dredged up a plethora of unsettling ideas about what traits strong females posses, and has led me to think films should no longer portray what is now classically called “strong” and instead produce more realistic female characters, thus redefining a more positive representation of women. Without this awareness, young adults will continue to believe that a strong woman falls into three categories; abnormally smart, irrevocably sexy, and unquestionably strong.
After reading this paper, there should be a better understanding of how the media incorrectly portrays these ideas. First, I’m going to focus on how the media destroys people motivation by displaying misleading photos in their advertisements. Most gyms, workout facilities, and athletic wear clothing get models that are very physically fit to advertise their company in their commercials, which is understandable because you do want the best to advertise your product. But when using people that look like they have been in the gym working out for over ten years, it can be very discouraging to the person that is just trying to start working out. And even more discouraging, most gyms will use models that use supplements that help improve their body size and strength.
Skill, Ability and Technique in Fitness Both skill and technique are learnt and developed, whereas ability is innate. Because skill and technique are learnt, they are dependent on practice to be able to progress. As ability is innate, you are born with specific abilities, which will help you to develop skills and techniques. For example, if you are of average height, have good coordination and have an abundance of fast-twitch fibres in your legs then you have the ability to become a sprinter.
When learning how to perform the skills catching a fly ball and running between You will go through all of these stages. To be good at the two skills displayed above involves the three learning phases Cognitive Stage, Associative Stage and the Autonomous Stage.

Then, I knew for sure I never wanted to stop. I was not addicted to lifting because of how it made me look or that I could eat a lot; those were just bonus’. I was addicted because it made me feel great, not just when I lifted, but afterwards when I was so exhausted, even the morning after when I was sore. Soreness meant I achieved my goal of tearing my muscle fibers. When I felt the pump, I was in heaven. After the lift, I would focus so much better and I would get to sleep much faster and sleep with much more quality. It is hard to explain, but I became mentally healthier. Before I lifted, if I got angry, I would hide in my room and eat junk food, or if I got frustrated I would cry. But since then, I would just bottle up my emotions and use them at the gym, use the negativity to achieve something positive. I was at my peak
