The great Nicholas A. Ferroni once stated that, “Students who are loved at home, come to school to learn, and students who aren’t, come to school to be loved” (We Are Teachers). Tracy Thomas has always had a strong passion to help and counsel the world’s young people. She realized at a very young age that she wanted to have a career that involved her using her counseling skills to work with the youth by helping them prepare and better themselves for the world.
Tracy Thomas was born January 3, 1968, in Nashville, Tennessee. She has always had a calling for counseling. Her love for children began when she was only a child herself. Thomas graduated from high school. Tracy Thomas then attended Kentucky State University, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology. After graduating in 1992, she began her first job as a case worker in Tennessee because of her strong passion for children. After being a case manager for a few years, she resigned from the job because of the traumatizing loss of one of her clients. She then began looking for a new job.
In the early ‘90s, Ms. Thomas began working as a parent liaison at the Metro Social Services in Tennessee. By 1997, Tracy Thomas moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue modeling. From 1997 to 1999, she attended Bauder College, majoring in Fashion Merchandising. In 1999, she graduated Bauder with her associates degree.
After graduating, she began working at the Shoe Makers Warehouse as an office manager. By 2000, she was promoted to store manager and accessory buyer for the multi-million dollar warehouse company. In 2004, the original owner of the warehouse sold the company, and the business of the store decreased. A year later, Ms. Thomas was laid off from her job, and the store closed. She is also involved with an organization called Youth V.I.B.E. (Vision, Industry, Business, and Empowerment) which is a free academic enrichment program in the Atlanta area. Ms. Thomas is a mentor in the Youth V.I.B.E. program.
The love Tracy Thomas has for helping and counseling children has encouraged her to begin her own youth group entitled Y.F.A.I.T.H (Youth Fixing Attitudes Impacting Things Happening). The group focuses on children who do not have the best attitude to better themselves and their attitudes. The youth group is targeted more towards young ladies who are at risks for steering their lives in the wrong direction, but she also likes to help and encourage young men to better themselves as well. Right now she is working on being able to give the young people of Y.F.A.I.T.H. grants and scholarships to attend college.
Over the years, Ms. Tracy Thomas’s passion for counseling and working with children has increased. She has dedicated all of her spare time to youth of different ages and races in her community. Her ultimate goal is to help motivate and inspire children, between the ages of ten and eighteen, to make better decisions to live a better life, and be prepared for adulthood and the real
