The Invention of The Tractor The invention of the tractor has made massive changes in our world today. Many people use tractors and they are a necessity to some. Tractors have also revolutionized many different things such as construction. They also have evolved and become more efficient and useable in the twenty-first century. Even with the first tractors with steam engines, they have made a huge impact on farming. Then with the later invention of the gasoline engine, they became even more essential for farms because they provided advantages with collecting crops and plowing dirt. This gave farmers more time to do other things and make their farm better. They also make farming more profitable and a more industrial business. The farmers used to have to plant a lot of oats to feed their animals which made a large portion of the land not profitable. This made a lot more of their land available for a more profitable crop such as soybean and corn. Nowadays most things are transported by train, airplane, ships. But back in the day they had to transport stuff by horse and wagon, that’s what motivated them to create the railroad that made every day much easier.
Steam powered harvesters and tractors were introduced by the end of 19th century. It started to gradually replace horses. However in some regions they created new problems as well. Vehicles proved to be too heavy for soft soils and often stuck and even sunk. Experiments with various sizes of wheels didn't produce good results. Vehicles were looked at as a way of freedom and excitement. Soon after, every household in America had a car. The demand for vehicles sparked a whole new industry, creating jobs, more revenues and improving the American economy in every way. Without farmers, there would be no food for us to consume. Big business picked up on this right away and began to control the farmers profits and products. When farmers buy their land, they take out a loan in order to pay for their land and farm house and for the livestock, crops, and machinery that are involved in the farming process. Today, the loans are paid off through contracts with big business corporations. Since big business has such a hold over the farmers, they take advantage of this and capitalize on their crops, commodities, and profits.
Before the invention of the modern day engine, lifestyles were completely different. Letters were sent by horse drawn wagons, people traveled by horses and other such animals, often taking an entire day to go twenty miles. The first direct injection fuel engine was not invented until 1923.[1] It only took a year before this engine was put into automobiles, making the lives of the general public much easier. The invention of the engine not only made it possible to travel by road, but also by water and air. Mail was no longer delivered by horses and families were able to travel from one place to another in less than an entire day. However, the affects of the modern day engine can be seen all over the world. Take Los Angeles for example; the city is filled with smog which is from the overcrowding of all the freeways with automobiles. Technology has escalated to a level where engines are no longer made by the working man. Now, engines can be made simply machines and computer based tools. However, these thought of simple ways of creating engines are not as easy as the first seemed. There are many positive and negative aspects of using technology to design engines.
