Innovative technology, while costly, is imperative to total quality approach within healthcare facilities. Total quality encompasses a quality driven strategic plan to increase competitiveness. This type of strategy can occur costs through new innovation and processes. It requires an ongoing approach to continually improve your staff and processes (Goetsch & Davis, 2014). As a leader in a small not-for-profit hospital, it is key to understand the challenges associated with these costs while creating quality within your community.

A total quality approach helps facilities achieve sustainability through improved technology and leadership. In the scenario presented, there are a few challenges that can present during the purchase of new technology in a hospital environment. If I were a leader in this type of facility, I think my top challenge would be the costs of new technology. Other challenges include creating a plan that involves staff from relevant departments and the perception of the new technology. For this new lab technology to be effective, each of these aspects must be considered. The top challenges facing a leader of a not-for-profit organization during new technology implementation are financial issues, staff involvement, and attitudes.
