Last year, as a result of a crowdfunding project in which I was involved, an actress was brought to my attention whose career has been steadily on the ascent. While this gifted lady may not be a household name as of yet, I believe it is only a matter of time before that changes. I am talking about none other than Nicole G. Leier (pronounced LEE-er). Shortly after her recent relocation to L.A., I had a chance to chat with her about life, the acting profession, and of course, her upcoming works.
What can you tell us about your recently released Lifetime film “Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart”?
Because I have features and a skin tone very similar to Toni Braxton’s, I am often called upon to be her photo double. So when this film came about, her manager and producer decided I should play a part in the film. I was quite happy to do so, and they agreed to put me in one scene. I played a reporter on the red carpet, and I got to interview her in the film {almost like you are doing with me now}.
You also appeared in “The Bridge Part 2” which will premiere on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries this March. There was plenty of fan uproar about part two being postponed until Christmas 2016. Now that the date has been moved up, what is your take on the entire situation?
When we were filming “The Bridge,” none of us, not even the director, knew that Parts 1 and 2 were going to air a year apart. I heard about the anger of the fans, but it was also a surprise when the decision was made to move the date up.There is even talk of this film becoming a television series--the fans sure want it. I think it would make a great series, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

The book was very inspiring and I think it covered a lot of great information. Something that Joanne Crutchfield managed to do very well was paint vivid pictures with her words. Everything was so detailed and descriptive, I was really drawn in by that. The use of imagery made the topics more relatable in a sense. I also liked how the book touched on the topic of mental health. Mental health issues affect everyone however, in the black community those health issues go unnoticed or unattended to. The Author shared her story of depression and how she dealt with it. I thought that aspect of the memoir was great, I think that it was wonderful that she shed a light on mental health. On the other hand the book was a little difficult to follow with the way the chapters were set up. Other than that I thought the book was good and I really
Winifred "Winnie" Foster from Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt is a sheltered but curious pre-teen who wants to explore the world outside the gates of her home, but is never allowed to because of her helicopter parents. At the beginning, all she wants to do is run away and make a difference in the world and have an adventure of sorts. But what Winnie doesn't know is that particular summer will be one she will never forget. That summer will change her from a sheltered, shy, and obedient little girl in to a selfless, witty, and fearless hero. She will also have to make one of the hardest decisions of her life; whether or not she will join the Tuck's everlasting lives by drinking from the spring. Specifically, her crucial decisions throughout the novel are what make her character so gallant. Although it appears that Winnie Foster is a shy introvert who only wants to be left alone, she is actually an adventurous character who's personality transforms in to a heroic protagonist at the end of the narrative.
She gets to the point and proves that in our current world we tend to say more than we should, when just a couple of words can do the same. In her writing, it is evident that the little sentences and words are what make the poem overall that perfect dream she wishes she were part of.
Straying away from life as a whole only to be alone, some may say is the strong way to heal themselves when dealing with extreme grief or a major crisis . In the book Wild, twenty-two year old Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost it all. Dealing with the loss of her mother, her family torn to pieces, and her very own marriage was being destroyed right before her very eyes. Living life with nothing more to lose, lifeless, she made the most life changing decision of her life. Strayed never seems remorseful on her decisions to up and leave everything behind while deciding to flee from it all. This being her way of dealing with life, it shows her as being strong; a woman of great strength and character. She shows personal strength, which is more than just a physical word. It is a word of very high value and can only be defined by searching deep within your very own soul.

This is How You Lose Her is a book written by Junot Diaz consisting of short stories, told by the protagonist, Yunior. Yunior’s character is described as the Dominican guy who struggles with infidelity and unable to love others full-heartedly. Diaz also shows how in Dominican culture; men carry the reputation of being womanizers and usually is pass from one generation to the next. Loretta Young, a breathtakingly lovely statuesque blond, always took pride in being remembered for her role as Berengaria. One asks, “Why should plain petite brunette Berengaria not have the privilege of being remembered as being like Loretta Young?”
I had been eagerly contemplating this trip to Hollywood for quite some time. Picturing the gritty world famous Roxy on Sunset complete with Hollywood decadence and history had been an ongoing fascination for me ever since New York rock and roll celebrity Bebe Buell had invited me out to the west coast to cover her debut at the room. A sort of East Coast Rocker goes west if you will. The “UN- Shoreworld.” Funny that this would be her first show at The Roxy as she pretty much ruled the Sunset strip back in the 70s, but so be it. If there’s one thing I always enjoy, it’s the adrenalin of performer that has something to prove to a whole lotta people. It always means a cutting edge show is in the works and the June 22nd performance was proof positive that Bebe Buell really never left Hollywood, she just got busy elsewhere.
Ever since Christopher Columbus vacated the director's seat, the film adaptations have been getting progressively sharper and more fascinating. The latest even features Jarvis Cocker and members of Radiohead vamping it up as the Weird Sisters at a school ball.
I went to an event to support the She’s The First club which is an organization that supports international women’s rights. The movie I watched is “He Named Me Malala,” a documentary that summarizes Malala Yousafzai’s life and highlights her efforts to support women’s rights for education.
The strigoi are back! FX Network's horror drama, The Strain, returned Sunday night for its much anticipated second season premiere. I was extremely impressed with the overall quality and direction the show is taking. Season One of The Strain was a lot of fun to watch with only a few low points throughout, but I have a feeling (after viewing a few episodes) that Season Two will be a much better story to continue this amazing and interesting epic.
