The Yellow Wallpaper Tone
In The Yellow Wallpaper, a word that strikes me is the use of “creeping.” This describes the action of the woman and how she is feeling along with the narrator staring out the window. The passage chosen is broken up into a portion of support and enthusiasm. The other half is negative and shying away from any positive outlet. The tone word to describe this passage is isolated. A good example is when she uses I see. “ I see her on that long road under the trees, creeping along, and when a carriage comes she hides under the blackberry vines”(654) There is a part in here where she sides with the creeping woman. “ I don’t blame her a bit.
