Before I go about fixing the world, I must first try a little self-improvement. Many people walk through life without really considering who they are and fewer still ask themselves if that is who they want to be. In my experience this is because most folks can't see how to go about changing themselves and some even think that this is somehow a betrayal of their essence.
To reinvent yourself you need three things. A vision of who you want to be. You need to know how to make a change in yourself and finally you need to have the courage to do it.
Your vision can be reached through many paths. Look at those things that you take pride in about yourself and contrast them with those things that embarrass you. This should start to indicate where your soul is trying to head. Next flesh out the ultimate form that you would take if you followed this path. And now you have your vision. But don't think this will remain constant throughout your life. As you change, grow and learn you will want to alter your vision. This is a good and normal thing, so fear not.
The method that I have found to change myself is simplicity itself. Become an actor. Take one part of yourself at a time and start acting as if you had already achieved that modification. It will feel awkward and false at first but the more you practice it, including the feelings behind the actions, the more it will become natural to you. Eventually you will be acting correctly without even thinking about it and your motivation will become a part of who you are. Then you are ready to tackle the next part of yourself that needs improvement.
You will need courage to do this. Remember, all of your friends and family are expecting you to stay the same. Whether you know it or not you are partly who you are because of a desire to meet these expectations. It is therefore natural for you to fear the confusion and perhaps rejection of those nearest and dearest to you.
First, Before the monster is created Victor says that he hopes this creation would bless him as his creator, and that the creature would be excellent nature and would be beautiful. After the creature is created Shelley creates sympathy for him by Victor’s description of him in a unique yet horrific way, “he’s ‘gigantic,” “deformed,” “yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath” this makes the creature abhorrent to typical humans. When thinking of the descriptions together, Shelley has created a vivid, unnatural image of the monster in the mind’s eyes. The language Shelley uses is powerful and emotive “shall I create another like yourself, whose joints wickedness

How do we know when or how to change ourselves as people? Sometimes, we all need a shove from something or someone to help us better ourselves. The most dominant factors are kindness, fear, and regret. These three things can make us willing to go through the hassle and hard work of breaking out of a habit, whether it be putting your feet on the couch, or your attitude.
The seven deadly sins are older than dirt in a sense, and it’s no wonder they can be found in almost every book. However, these books clearly show the deadly sins of pride, greed, lust, and wrath. To Kill A Mockingbird expresses pride through it’s memorable characters. Julius Caesar finds pride in the characters of Antony, Caesar, and Brutus. The Great Gatsby puts lust to shame through Gatsby and the consequences he experiences for having a deadly sin. Night shows how a deadly sin can be in an entire population, not just one single soul. Even though the seven deadly sins are mostly bad, these books also show that even the most innocent of characters can, and probably does consist of at least one deadly sin. Some can have more, and very rarely can a person posses
The argument comes because of an existing psychological argument, nature vs. nurture. This is an argument on whether people are the way they are because of the way they were raised or the way they were born. Many psychologists today believe that people are the way they are because of a combination of nature and nurture. I believe that the argument in this book can be solved with this belief.
She desperately wanted a voice and independence. Edna’s realization of her situation occurred progressively. It was a journey in which she slowly discovered what she was lacking emotionally. Edna’s first major disappointment in the novel was after her husband, Leonce Pontellier, lashed out at her and criticized her as a mother after she insisted her child was not sick. This sparked a realization in Edna that made here realize she was unhappy with her marriage. This was a triggering event in her self discovery. This event sparked a change in her behavior. She began disobeying her husband and she began interacting inappropriately with for a married woman. Edna increasingly flirted with Robert LeBrun and almost instantly became attracted to him. These feelings only grew with each interaction. Moreover, when it was revealed to Edna that Robert would be leaving for Mexico she was deeply hurt not only because he didn’t tell her, but she was also losing his company. Although Edna’s and Robert’s relationship may have only appeared as friendship to others, they both secretly desired a romantic relationship. Edna was not sure why she was feeling the way she was “She could only realize that she herself-her present self-was in some way different from the other self. That she was seeing with different eyes and making the acquaintance of new conditions in herself that colored
Andy Stanley begins with the origin of a vision. Stanley (1999) contends, “Visions are born in the soul of a man or woman who is consumed with the tension between what is and what could be” (p. 17). According to Stanley, a vision is the ability to see what is possible in light of the present reality. A leader will not a have a vision for an organization if he is content with the status quo. Conversely, it is out of discontent that a vision is birth within a leader’s heart.
"To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often" (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/topics/topic_change.html), this quote by Winston Churchill is something I can connect with as I often feel the need to improve myself which can only be done with change. It also relates to the protagonist, Sanger Rainsford, of the short story, "The Most Dangerous Game," by Richard Connell. Sanger Rainsford changes his views on some matters after being trapped on an island with a madman with no method of escape. He undergoes a major change in his character due to an awful experience in isolation with the psychopath, General
She is 28 years old, living comfortably and married to an older man connected to his life of business located in New Orleans. Because of this, Edna never settled into the altruistic motherly cast that belonged to people like the other women that vacationed at Grand Isle to get away from the sickness and hotness from the city. She instigated a trip towards self-discovery that led to multiple awakenings: to her isolated self as a “solitary soul,” to the happiness of “swimming far out” into the sensually appealing sea, to her fervor shown in music, to her own longing to be an artist, to a romantic fondness towards a young man, to being on her own, to
In Sophocles' Oedipus as well as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the main character embarks on a journey to self-discovery, ultimately gaining the knowledge of his own flaws. Yet the differences in their failings cause the two characters to have very different endings. After Oedipus learns of his true identity, he realizes that he has cursed himself with his arrogance and pride, and the play ends tragically. Sir Gawain, on the other hand, has good reason for his mistakes as he simply fears for his own life and his story ends on a lighter note. While self-discovery can humble a character, the nature of his flaws ultimately determine his end.

world from the perspective of others. Although this is not an easy process, we are much better
If you have the desire to make this world a better place, stop complaining, hating, and being a miserable being in it. Start being positive and doing positive things for yourself, other people, and the world around you. That 's what will make a positive difference. Hate can 't be drowned out by hate! It only creates more hate. Negativity can 't be drowned out by negativity! It only creates more negativity. Love, kindness and compassion are the only things that can make this world better, and they are all positive traits.
The whole reason of self-improvement is to improve upon what you are. Some of things are not working for you, because the necessary behavior is absent.
Create a positive environment – It is not possible to control the world. But, we can certainly control our own world. We should try to create an environment that will attract positivity into our life. Limiting interactions with negative people, like the worrywarts, the whiners, the haters, and so would be helpful. We can grow more as a person if we hang-out with people who are mature and positive
