WAVERLY (WENY) - Fire officials in Tioga County are calling the Waverly Department of Public Works building a complete loss after Monday night's fire. Melted fosade and charred equipment is all that left of the Department of Public Works building in the Village of Waverly. This after the building caught fire, which caused an explosion and sent the building up in flames are 10:30 Monday night. "The explosion we believe was a smoke explosion from the toxic gases. We believe it was a small smoldering fire in the office area that then built to the size that it had enough toxins in the air which caused the explosion and compromised the building and pushed out the walls," explains Tioga County Fire Investogator, David Churchman.
