Singing, dancing, tabla playing to acting; just an introduction of the many things Mumbai born Tina Sugandh can do. Having been raised by her artistic family in New Jersey, Tina always had a musical bone in her. “My mom used to sing Beatles songs on the radio in India. And she taught my dad how to sing and play, they taught us how music could bring a family together and spread love, joy and happiness. How it could make people smile and then bring a tear to their eye.” Explain the Indian American musician with killer abs.
Sugandh popularly known as The Tabla Girl (also the name of her debut album released in 2009) was first discovered at the age of 15 by Sean Harris, a screenwriter and creative mentor. Harris convinced Sugandh that she should pursue music as a career. While in Rutgers University studying biology, Tina worked on writing her music with Harris and performed on the weekends with her family. During this time, Tina got signed as a singer with Hollywood Records, and worked for Warner/Chappell Music as a songwriter, which brought her great experience and boosted her career manifolds. She incorporated her past with present and did an amalgam of Bolly-Holly music, fusing Indian beats with hip-hop moves, traditional instruments with English lyrics, and adding the touch of bindis, bangles and embellished silk scarves with denim to create the perfect fusion
